Greetings! I wanted to share how I created my ghillie cloaks for my Ratlings-count-as, also known as the Scout/Sniper Cadre, using Cadian and Catachan sniper models.
Materials
- Medical Gauze, available at Target or similar stores
- PVA glue (Elmer's in my case)
- a plastic palette, for dipping or mixing water and glue
- some water
- old brush
- scissors
- tweezers (not necessary, but could be useful)
- Sculpting tool (also not necessary, but useful)

And that's it! Simple, but effective. Good luck!

GHILLIE CLOAK TUTORIAL
- Cut the cloak to fit the model general shape. You may want to go 'just' slightly bigger to help with making folds or the draping effect.
- If you are adding a hood, use a oblong half circle shape
- You can either a) 'paint' the glue/water mixture onto the cloak while its on the model, using plenty of watered down glue
- or, b) mix the glue and water into a shallow palette and dip the cloak pieces into it. This method really soaks the gauze, but you will have to manipulate the piece back into its general shape
- If the model already has a metal or plastic cloak, just plaster the gauze onto that shape. You may have use small pieces to also cover the inside, if visible
- If there is no cloak, drape the cloak you are 'sculpting' over the model, how you like it
- Cut long thin strips to cammo the stock and barrel of the sniper model.
- Don't be afraid to go "outside" the model, i.e. covering part of the plastic base. I think it enhances the effect
- Let dry overnight, when you think its ready, prime your model (or re-prime)
- You will have to go back and paint spots you missed with whatever color you used to prime with, usually in the folds of the cloak, or some parts of the model
- Paint to whatever cammo scheme you wish. I also added static grass to my model, but that's up to you.
And that's it! Simple, but effective. Good luck!
