++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Transmission Starts at April 6th 15:00 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I am going to keep a log of this, so that if I don't make it, you all at least know what happened. Hello, my name is Syphon. Some of you will know me by name. Perhaps some of few have found the time to pity me for my shoddy painting. But that's all inconsequential. I am going to start a new project for WH40K, which will combine all disciplines of the game: Fluff, Gaming, Converting, Modelling, Painting and Terrainmaking. I recently acquired Dawn of War: Soulstorm, which had the Sisters of Battle as one of two new playable races. When I saw the Witch Hunters codex in my stack of codices and White Dwarfs (Dwarves?) I was suddenly reminded of a specific passage from it, going a little like this: "Reasons for Sisters of Battle to fight Imperial Guard: While many regiments' use of Abhumans is frowned on but tolerated, this regiment is recruiting from the local indentured mutant work force" That got me thinking. What if I model various mutants of said work force, but instead of making them Guardsmen, they'll just be inhabitants of some horrible hab block, all mutated and ugly. This lead me to going to the attic to find some nice bits to create said mutants. I eventually gathered up some non-skeletal WHFB zombie bits, WHFB Skaven bits, Daemonette and Bloodletters bits as well as some WHFB Beastmen bits. These will be combined with standard WH40K Imperial Guard bits to create something that will look like the dregs of a planet. Coupled with this will be the construction of horrible little hovels, like the ones you might find in the deepest reaches of the Underhive. Perhaps there will also be some Tau who have gone solo or gotten out of reach of the Greater Good. Who knows what else lurks there? I will be writing fluff to justify creating an army of them to game with, while building terrain and converting and painting miniatures to depict these ugly louts. I hope to start later today, as well as post some pictures, maybe even a plan of attack for the Underhive buildings. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Transmission Ends April 6th 15:21 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Great stuff, Syphon.
Having assembled (and lost) about 40 mutants all I can do is give you mutant ideas:
- beastman head, catachan body & arms
- beastman body, catachan/ empire head
- catachan body, mutant arm (chaos sprue)
- cadian body, zombie head
- catachan body - two heads and greenstuff
- beastman body : 4 arms
I'll try to think of more - it's better if they all look different, but having said that don't go overboard on mutated bitz - try to make them look more human than alien. Spawn bitz are great and you can use spawn as counts as ogryns..

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Transmission Starts at April 10th 21:20 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ It's been a while. The dregs have been unruly. And if I said they are ugly, I'd be the master of understatement. However, I have hit a snag. I don't have enough alien/strange parts to create more dregs.... Ideas for a single dreg building have been playing around in my head like a bad dream. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Transmission Ends at April 10th 21:26 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Catachan or to a lesser extent Cadian Legs can be mated onto ork bodies provided the "ball" at the bottom of the ork body (where it would normally meet the cup of the ork legs). Provides for some freakishly proportioned beasties. With the aid f a gobbet of filler the ork legs can be reused with some other body. Don't overlook Skaven nightrunners too. The separate tails make excellent tentacles and as they look too simian to be rats anyway just skip the heads and you're well away.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Transmission Starts at April 10th 17:42 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I managed to catch two dregs on pictcaster before they ran off into the darkness again. They're really ugly. The Omnissiah has seen fit to grant me visions of what the dregs live in. Here's what it looks like: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Transmission Ends at April 10th 17:50 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Transmission Starts at April 11th 16:33 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Today I had a contact harvest some parts to create new dregs with. In return, I sent him weapons. Being a Radical Inquisitor isn't easy.
Dregs have not been sighted today. I have noticed some of them seem to have taken a liking to the blueprints the Omnissiah gave me in my sleep. I think I will have to build them a few for my little zoo.

GK list might suit your needs better than guard list; only you'll have to use Coteaz as a 'counts as' radical inquisitor.
Impressive little beauts, aren't they? Really can't wait to see a full platoon.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Transmission Starts on April 20th 16:5 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ My contact delivered. Finally, I have more parts to continue my vision. By the Emperor, it is a magnificent sight. I fear I might have gone too far in my calling, but I am too far along to stop now. Imagine the sight of xenos, heretics and traitor scum fighting others of their kind! If my army wins, the Imperium will have struck a blow against its enemies. If it loses, the Emperor is rid of a few traitors and other assorted affronts to His glory. I hope to snap a few more pictcasts of the dregs soon. Perhaps some form of classification is even possible. The Emperor Protects. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Transmission Ends on April 20th 16:10 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Transmission Starts at April 21st 21:55 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ It's been a long day. By the Emperor, I can't wait to get off this blasted planet. It's far too hot. Do I look like a Marine from the Salamanders Chapter? I know I'm supposed to be one of the Emperor's Holy Inquisition, but they don't give us all those fancy implants and organs, you know. Toiling away in these labs is even worse. And if only ... No, Emperor protect me, those thoughts invite laxity. Or worse. I went into the underhive today. I finally managed to get a hold of a few more dregs with my pictcaster. But as far as I can tell, these ones are still fairly low in the hierarchy. Nothing resembling any sort of armour yet. And their weapons are fairly rudimentary. Almost all of them carry mutations. Still, I feel that I've not even begun to uncover what my creations have been up to... Some sort of goatman mutant. This seems a fairly serious example of the mutations rife in the underhive population. This seems to resemble the goatman mutant I spotted earlier, except even farther along. I wonder if this is an actual Tyranid related creature. If it is, all my work will have been for nothing. I will keep my superiors posted. One of the same creatures I spotted before. The other. It's still as ugly as I remember. The dregs seem to be gathering in front of this house. It seems sturdy. I fear my combat servitors might not be enough to dislodge them. Though, of course, krak missiles usually do wonders. This is all the images my servitor sent me before it had to make itself scarce. I am intrigued by these mutations. I am, however, worried that I might have to cancel the project if these mutations get out of hand. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Transmission Starts Ends April 21st 22:26 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Transmission Starts at April 26th 15:26 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Some new mutants have surfaced. I fear they might be an alltogether new class. And far more dangerous. Other than George. I have nicknamed the diminutive carrier of the defiled icon of Saint Marika George. I will have to save the icon and have my priest restore it. Three mutants in flak armour. I do not believe these are traitors, just mutants who are in a different class than the previous dregs. I just saw them briefly, and they were moving as well, but I fear they might be more dangerous too. I wouldn't put it beyond them to have firearms to go along with the flak armour. Lastly, there is the most dangerous dreg spotted so far. From what I gathered, it used to be a simple ogryn of the lowest intelligence, fitted out with a light to find its way in the darkness. Every night it would be shackled in order to prevent it from hurting itself or others. Apparently, once the mutation took hold, it must've broken free with daemonic strength. However, it still has those shackles around its limbs as far as I can tell. Perhaps a kill sweep would not be such a bad idea... This is all I have to report so far. Inquisitor out. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Transmission Ends at April 26th 15:35 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

It wears a spotlight like a belt?
Good to see its coming along. Your conversions are awesome.
Are you planning on using normal lasrifles or something else?

Hi Walrus,
yes. The ogryn was outfitted with a spotlight in the same way you see miners with a lamp on their helmets. The fluff is that it helps to see what is right infront of the ogryn, the practical explanation is that it helps avoiding the annoying gap for the gutplate.
Thank you for the kind compliments. Too bad once I start painting all goes wrong.
As for the weaponry, I am currently eyeing some lasguns for conversion work, but some non-standard weapons would be fun too. I've been hoping to get my hands on some of the Necromunda weapons, but no luck so far. The flak armoured guys will most have either bolters or lasguns.

Forge world do some renegade autoguns if you want variation.
You could include things like crossbows as well to add variety.

I just bought a few items on Ebay. All Necromunda weapons. Shame the American one was so expensive. But oh well. I've got some cash to spend right now.

Oh man, all you people posting here are making me nervous. I'm going to disappoint you all so hard once I get past basecoating these guys...
Addition: I will probably just use the IG list for these guys, making the "me" character, Inquisitor Griswold, simply the commanding officer. Sounds easiest without having to reach for the stars.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Transmission Starts at May 5th 18:15 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The dregs are unruly, as ever. Some of them now have firearms. I'm worried for the threat they might pose, but thankfully my manipulation directs their anger into training. If I would lose control, the entire hive might...No, I will stay the course. By the Emperor, some of these dregs have mutated something fierce. Still, they do not seem to harbour anything more than hatred towards Chaos. Any dregs that do will be shot. At least they're not shooting at my servoskull anymore. This allows for far better picts to be taken. First off, one of the dregs I recruited for my personal guard. He seems to be ex-Guard, or at least ex-PDF. His skills will serve me well. This one is a prospective recruit of my entourage. I have some qualms about his (her?) ability to properly use the lasgun, but the crab-like claw will certainly be harmful in close quarters combat. This one has definitely been kicked out of the local PDF, judging by the colour of his/her fatigues and flak armour. The next dreg my servoskull caught on pict was raging for no apparent reason. He won't be put in my retinue, that much is certain. His thorough mutations ensure a more unstable personality, which I speculate is the reason for his rampage. I was about to recall my servoskull when the once-ogryn showed up. It destroyed one hab unit and ate three lesser dregs before sauntering off again. I maintain my sceptic attitude of earlier, fearing it might be above even my ability to handle it. But if I could unleash it upon the enemies of the Emperor...It would be a magnificent sight indeed! This concludes my findings. The Emperor protects. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Transmission Ends at May 5th 18: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
