Thank you to everyone who voted, quality competition this time around. Keeping my promise of giving in to the pestering, the sword was a little bit more work than people were expecting I think. empirespy was spot on with the handle being a Tau bonding knife, but the blade itself took some work. I cut in half a Space Marine power sword and filed the edges to make it look a bit sharper. Then i shaped it with a hobby knife to get the narrow base of the blade and the broader end. Then I filed out the fuller (technical term for the recess down the length of the blade) with an edge of a square file. The curled pommel was done with a hobby knife by curling a bit of sprue. Then it was all glued together and painted. Would be hard to get a uniform look with all the shaping involved but if you could find bits that look more or less the same a squad of sword-toting Tau could look quite good.

Congratulations Cogride! I really liked all the models that were posted, but I do think yours was definitely the best painted ;D Have you got your banner yet? And 3ff3ct, any chance we could please get a rundown on who did which models? I've got a pretty good idea, I think, but I really want to see how accurate I was  |
