In "a good thing could never happen to us/SoB" way? No, more in a "seem made up" sort of way. I think that sisters are getting a release this year but these seem a bit off. Either they are made up or very early in the production cycle.

EXPANDING AMMUNITION DECREASES THE ARMOUR PIERCING CAPABILITIES OF A WEAPON!!! *Cries softly in the corner for the death of all pretense of rational 40K ruleswriting.* Weep not RT! In Dark Heresy, Dum Dum rounds actually do suffer quite nasty penalties against armour. As to why their Pen 6, I think it would have to be AP rounds like Manstoppers or something. Reds Manstopper rounds get higher strength tho' not AP.

I agree with Trickstick though, it seems far too early to be seeing leaked pages. Reds

Ah. Well you'd be the expert so I'll defer my judgement to you.
Wait. Crap... now I need another excuse for why SM scouts shotguns are S4...

I'd think Arbites shotguns are similar to Scout ones, and a little angrier than most common models. Reds

What if they expand inside the target? BULLET'S AREN'T CONSCIOUS. THEY CAN'T TELL WHAT'S THEIR INTENDED TARGET. *Slaps Walrus for being silly.* As to why their Pen 6, I think it would have to be AP rounds like Manstoppers or something. Reds AP rounds have poorer performance against soft, fleshy targets (well, that is to say, they tend to go straight through. A good, clean shot will cause significantly less tissue damage than a standard bullet). Why does 40K insist on modelling these farcical things when it's clearly at far too large a scale. Do the writers just think "HURR, this is da kewlz from dat rockin' new movie, let's ouse it!".... Wait... I have the horrible feeling that's exactly what they do... Ah. Well you'd be the expert so I'll defer my judgement to you. Wait. Crap... now I need another excuse for why SM scouts shotguns are S4... Because they're awesome, or a larger gauge or something. Reds Because they're MAGICAL INQUISITIN GUNZ LOL. - To summarise the logic behind 40K rules development.

Or the penetration causes chemicals to combine and expand?

No, but they can be programed to know how far to go before exploding. Why not just have them explode on impact? Because intestines offer less resistance than ceramite.

Why not just have them explode on impact? Because intestines offer less resistance than ceramite. Also, an explosion inside a material is far more damaging than one on the surface.

Why not just have them explode on impact? Because intestines offer less resistance than ceramite. A boltgun round isn't going to go through ceramite...

Because intestines offer less resistance than ceramite. A boltgun round isn't going to go through ceramite... Before I get dragged into an argument about fictional ammunition, I'd like to point out that both the intestines part and the ceremite part were just examples. Now that that's out of the way, there are boltgun rounds that pierce ceremite! Nerd rage! Disclaimer: Anyone who doesn't get that my post here is satirical in every way needs to stop using the internet for the rest of the day.
