what should I use to strip >primer< off plastics? I got a bad batch a long time ago and have a land speeder typhoon that's utter crap due to catching a bad coat of primer and would really like to recondition the kit. thanks

I've heard that soaking your plastics in Simple Green for a few days does the trick. According to what I've heard, if you soak your minis for a few days (2-4), you should be able to wipe off the old paint. I'd say Google it to double check; I've only heard of this recently. I hope this helps!

Although definitely environmentally friendly, Simple Green is not all it is cracked up to be as far as an all-purpose paint stripping formula (your mileage may vary.)
On the whole, Castrol Super Clean or brake fluid seem to work best for me for stripping plastics, though results always seem to depend a lot more on the paint itself than a, "one-solvent-strips-all" solution.

Huh. Someone told me brake fluid was harmful on plastics. I'll have to remember that!

Huh. Someone told me brake fluid was harmful on plastics. I'll have to remember that! I use brake fluid and had no bad effects with it. I once left some mini's in a bowl of brake fluid for over a year and they came out OK.

For one conversion some GW staff member even placed a zombie in a tank with brake fluid (some Chaos Cybot if I remember correctly).

Have heard good things about brake fluid but not tried it. I always used nail varnish remover myself, works pretty well, and doesn't damage plastic.

Doesn't white spirit work? Never tried it, but I imagine it would work, it might damage the plastic a little and so diluting it a bit may be advisable.....
