If you've looked at my ogryn thread, you'll know that I enjoy converting and customization. In this case, my conversion is less an issue of cost however, and more personal aesthetic taste. I've never liked the official psyker models, for the lack of variety as well as the pose that makes them look bent double with a migrane. I do find their artwork rather striking though, so I decided to use my extra bits to convert some custom ones. My first one will shooting lightnind from his hand, because thats just awesome. The components so far are a torso and legs from a chimerra, an officer's head with the hair and headset mike shaved off, a straight right arm from a heavy weapons sprue and a grenade holding hand, a grenade launcher left arm with the fingers from a cupped heavy weapon team hand, and a greenstuff bottom of his cloak. The staf is made from an antenna, a shovel handle, an imperial eagle from a chimerra, and an extra skull reimmed from an ogre's beard. Now that that's all out of the way, a couple pics to show you where all this is going

You should totally do one using the pointing finger arm from the HW team. "Poke of Death!" Anyway, it looks like your first guy is off to a good start!

Thanks for sharing this - it looks very innovative. Maybe you could make his head physically bigger with gs ; rather like the 2nd edition psyker models, who had massive heads.. If you're up to sculpting it..

If I had to be picky id say that the cloak should be thinner. Other than that minor personal judgement, this is awesome and I am very interested how the others will turn out!

Awesome! The painting of the eyes is the wrong way round, which is why it doesnt 'glow'. Have a look for object based lighting tutorials, that should tell you what you need to know im extremely eager to see the rest of the squad now!

I think you should paint the lightning effect an ice blue with a dry brush and highlight of white to give it that high voltage energy stream look. Thats just me though. Over all it looks great!

I would give the cloak more motion, like the air is twisting and lashing around your psyker from the energy your psyker is using. It just looks a little too solid at the moment...

Probably thin the GS out a little bit as well. It looks a little thick as is.

So I've "collected" guardsmen since '07 or '08, but I've only recently started to play against my brother a bit (When I was younger, I just wanted to collect them like my big brother, but thanks to podcasts like the Independent Characters and the 11th Company I'm actually trying to get into playing.) Now with 6th on the way, I'll be starting with a bit less of a knowledge gap compared to other player, since I'll be in on the playing side from day one, and I'm hoping to play on a much more regular spirit. In fact, I'm trying to finish up my guard for a 1000 point tournament at my local game store in late July, so here's the new progress on my psykers. Since I last posted I've bumped my total to 4 finished or almost finished Psykers On their own, the new guys look like this This guy will have lightning in his open palm. This is their overseer. I decided to change his close combat weapon from the standatd chainsword-ish version. And finally, I have a couple more in the greenstuff stages To wrap this post up, a group shot of the whole squad as it stands. More will join the ranks soon.

Wow, that's pretty damn awesome. I've been wanting to do something similar, but haven't really had any inspiration until now. Thanks, you've given me something to do while I get over this flu.
