I´ve been toying with an idea for how to make metal armour for my fallout theme.
1. Metal chestplate from WH imperial faction. 2. Cadian arms 3. Catachan legs 4. Assorted gubbins from here and there.
How does that sound?

I´ve ordered these. I´ve decided to take som artistic liberties with NCR army. First of all I decided that my vision on falloutverse is that the technology for making weapons for an whole army would rather be bolt action rifles. The semi-, full auto would be more for the elite troops. I am going to use Khaki for pants and "army" green with camouflage for jacket, with NCR tag on the right shoulder. The rest I´ll decide while painting. I am also going to kitbash some more hightech stuff on them to make them more falloutish.

Nice. And I agree, I dislike the idea of the NCR having Vertibirds. I think they seem much more Enclave tech as they weren't that wide spread I think during the war. plus in fallout: NV those at fort hope only have shotguns and small rifles so not totally out of place

The NCR only got Vertibirds after the joint BoS-NCR raid on Navarro. And besides that, New Vegas takes pace almost 100 years after Fallout 2. As for weaponry, you have to take into account what was left after the Great War. The factorie for guns that were situated away from large cities would also be largely untouched. I'm sorry if this post reads as arrogance.

That s a point, but the majority of the army probably wouldn´t be distributed with ventibirds. Heck my guess is that most armies today aren´t inserted with helicopters. So it is most viable to conclude that only elite squads and VIPs to use ventibirds.
That would mean that the factories have been in use for too long and most likely are more or less producing at very low rate, considering attrition of metal and plastics. So I still think that the most cost effective things that NCR can produce at a large scale would be bolt action rifles.

Also raiders, scavengers will most likely have stripped most of the items from factories. there are the gun runners but they seem expensive for a post war military... Also I know they got them from Navarro, but I'd expect them to have taken damage and I doubt the NCR has that much skill in repair and reproduction of parts. Plus it's likely to take a lot of skill to fly one. I know there's only 2 in NV and ones the presidents. but some players have modded it so they have an air force lol.
Also MG Kelly is this before or after NV?

Around NV, it is not like I´ve put a lot of thought into it. We´ll see .
As an update on where I stand in the building parts. I´ve built two small houses to use as combat playground. One of them is still waiting for the glue to harden. It small three rooms with kitchen. Totally unpainted but I was more into making the building. I am going to make one wrecked house based on these two.

Simple and effective. I love it! (Then again, I've played almost every single thing that is Fallout. I -AM- the Vault Dweller!)

So time for some Updates. First of my NCR squad. The first two pics are the Sketch up painting. It is not really visible but the one the left has brown "camo" on his jacket. This meant that I found it better to keep all straps in Khaki just as the pants. These can be adjusted in colour depth when highlighting and stuff. The one on the right "sarge" has a plain jacket. This left the brown open for the leather. So any opinions are great and will be taken into consideration. (After reading most of my answers I get a feeling that it comes out as if I dismiss every ones ideas. this is not true, but I like to discuss all opinions). These three are just ordinary grunts. To make them more Fallout they´ve got some handgrenades attached and one of them got a LAW. I might add some more stuff later on, but as of now I haven´t gotten any clue as what. Now for some gunslingers. The first one just got a SM scout Boltpistol scope attached to his hunting rifle. This one got his revolver exchanged for a Desert Eagle. He also got a GS metal shoulder pad and some GS technological gizmos on his back. The last gunslinger is just started on. He got a muttonstache because he is a manly man. I also attached a "what is supposed to be" a hockey elbow pad on his left arm. I really need to put some more love into him, but I haven´t really cracked him yet. And a fallen Brotherhood of steel objective. He will need some repositoning of limbs, and a lot of rust.

Thanks for the replies. now for some updates. This is the latest addition to the gang. Meet Constanze Lovejoy from Vault 69. No one in the gang has ever seen her outside her suit. When they ask she just replies that she can only think of one good reason for getting out of the suit. And the reason she left the vault is beacuse she is on vacation. Usually at that time Doc Vacation mutters....I would love for you to be on vacation. the car in the background is going to transformed into her shack, but I am going to keep the inspirational painting on it. This is a hireling from The followers. She is a medic and armed with a shotgun. And the dead BOS objective has been painted up. The left arm has been kept in that position because it is perfect for attaching some kind of rifle in it. Making him a clear objective to plunder.

Hello. Time for some new pics. This is my take on a NCR squad. They are supposed to be regulars. The painting isn´t my best since they are not meant to be evolvable player characters. So I hide some mediocre painting behind wash and highlight. I am goint back to them later to work on the hair since they all now got that beatiful blond hair you get when primer white gets a dose of flesh wash. I also need to figure out how to make them more NCR and less American civil war. The red star and some kind of bagde ought to do it. ...... So the first pic is of course with their sgt in front. I am considering using the NCR red star on his metal shoulder pad. It will also get some more weathering to point out it is metal. Also I´m goint to use some yellow stripes on the grenade since they have yellow stripes in Fallout. This is the squads "problem solver" He has to lumber round on the squads only heavy weapon. A LAW to take out fortifications and the occasional vehicle that is out there. The LAW will be getting some yellow striping to pick it out more. This poor sod is on latrine duty. I added a shovel to make them more "grunt". ........... I´ve got three more unpainted for some chop-job. One of them is going to get an assault rifle. A cheap way to add some firepower to a squad. I also plan to make one a signalist. It might come in handy later. The last one volounteered for experimentation duty.

Thank you teku18. Now for three more gunslingers that is in the first state of painting. This one is for hire and comes loaded with an M60. He is next in line for being completed since I need him for a small test game I am considering this weekend. I plan to make a small battlereport for my own fun and to show off scenery, models and rules in action. The gang are going to need to hire this model to handle the scenario I am planning. Although this on got a SMG she somehow cries out techie to me. I can´t figure out why, but she does. This girl is just to damn cool so I just had to paint her up with no modifications needed at all. She just is Fallout NV for me. Or perhaps a regulator?

Been a while since I last checked this thread. Glad to see progress is being made on your figures. I had a look through that entire range from your link above and I must say that there are some really nice minis in there as far as a Fallout theme is considered. The Crow Dogs could make nice raiders or tribals. I especially like this guy www.westwindproductions.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=126_208_212&products_id=1418. Not sure how much more NCR guys you plan on painting up but he'd make for a great veteran NCR Ranger hero or something along those lines. Interesting and creative as always, keep it up. cogride
