Major downer, you could try getting an aegis, but seeing as I invented it, you may not find many knocking about Took me a hell of a long time to get working, parts of the hull are actually plasticard, but hopefully you cannot actually tell which bits. It also cost an absolute fortune to buy, because there is obviously a normal leman russ, a forge world mars alpha hull extension, and an armageddon pattern medusa kit all involved, all told nearly £100. I love the destroyers personally, I have two of them. Using IA1 rules and the slick loader skill they are pretty good too. I know what you mean about the radio pack, I have actually started to dislike it myself too, funnily enough, but they are magnetised on all my tanks, so can simply be left off. What have I got next? I have all the stuff arriving that I mentioned above, I also plan to rebuild a few of my old variants using new plastic kits, particularly an inferno cannon armed russ, and a calliope armed russ. I also plan to scratch build an ork stompa at some point, one that doesn't look like an angry flower pot. A friend of mine wants me to make him a land raider ares for apocalypse games too. Oh and I want to build myself a couple of atlas recovery tanks too, to keep my company rolling. I have a couple of spare unbuilt russes sat around I can use. They are the old style russes, but seeing as I wouldn't be using the turrets, it doesn't matter so much. I also have ideas about building some super heavy knights to support my blood angels army, none of the existing imperial super heavies really go well with space marines in my opinion, they are really all guard super heavies. So I think the knights are ideal, both in terms of the way I can make them look, and the battlefield roll they serve. yeah I should be kinda busy... thanks very much infantryman and trooper, glad you like them.

eggmoe, thanks very much, I like to think so. Vice-Shogun, thanks, glad you like it.
Emptyhat, it is 190 points, has a demolisher base so armour 14/13/11, and BS3. It has a heavy stubber hull sponson, and may not take side sponsons. The medusa cannon is obviously the same as the chimera version, with the same 5pt upgrade for the bunker busting shells. Finally it has defensive frag launchers, which inflict D3 S3 AP- hits on any unit attacking it in close combat, distributed as shooting attacks before the charging units makes its' attacks. I may post the proper sheet at some point with all the fluff

Wow...the demolisher just got ousted in shooty power But yeah I used the line in mccaptins signature
Particuarly loving the destroyer <3
Also I'm gathering up the nerve to order in my first FW models (hydra), is it pretty much click, checkout, enter address, pay, wait x amount of time done?

well the medusa cannon is better than the demolisher cannon sure, but that is one of the reasons why I said no side sponsons, so it is more susceptible to weapon destroyed results.
The order process is very simple yeah, though personally I wouldn't bother buying a hydra from them. I got one for my birthday one year and it was a bit of a pain because the resin top plate for the chimera hull didn't fit in any way, also there are enough plastic auto cannons about to make your own, but it is up to you, the resin turret is pretty cool. Not too hard to duplicate though, a defiler turret is a similar size and shape with a bit of work, you could use a sentinel cockpit too. The side pieces of a dreadnought sarcophagus would provide good mounting points and shape. Hmm.....
Damn it now I am going to have to build one. This is your fault Beav.

D:> *grabs stick to hit anyone who attempts/tells me to change my face*
*scoots back to the underhive*
Well I don't have any spare auto cannons lying around, I gave them away to other people who wanted RAHFELMAN DWEDZZZZZ, I don't plant on buying a defiler and...they look cool (the hydra)
Also about the aegis and weapon destoryed n whatnot, even if it had sponsons, they opposing player still picks what to blow off
Buuut, i'm lazy so at 10:10 on tuesday night I am ordering this peice of resin.
What did you mean by it doesn't fit in any way?

what I mean is, if you destroy a demolisher cannon, it still has three nasty sponson weapons to kick ass with. If you destroy the aegis medusa cannon, it only has a solitary stubber to fall back on, that is intentional. It gives you a reason to still pick a demolisher, keep points down, and also I imagine that the increased hull size means that sponsons would simply be too much additional weight (fluff reason).
The kit obviously comes with a plastic chimera, it has a resin top plate for the chimera hull, then the turret which sits on that. When I got mine, the resin top plate for the chimera was shorter and narrower than the space on top of the chimera that it was supposed to fill, so it simply didn't work.

I don't actually take sponsons on my demolisher. It keeps the points down and the threat level of the tank equal or even slightly lower than the rest of the units in my army. This seems to keep it alive longer, not to mention the extra support I get by having better units from the pts I save from not taking sponsons.

I never take sponsons on my russes for the simple reason that I prefer the profile of the tank without them, it is a purely aesthetic decision

I love the punisher, awesome looking gun, and does scare people, but it is easily 20 points overcosted in my opinion, how cruddace thought it ought to be so much more expensive than the demolisher I will never know, I think it was to try and soften the blow of inventing a heavy 20 gun and the inevitable knee-jerk reaction of 'omg overpowered'

I find that Punishers are great fun, if unreliable. They've been good in the past for me with chewing through monsterous creatures, or overkilling infantry squads (I usually have two together in a squad)
Ive also enjoyed the whole exchange about 'increased hull size' and the aethetics of sponsons; its reminded why I love this forum ;D

the punisher cannon is just fun all round. My vulture gunship arrived today with twin linked punisher cannons, can't wait to assemble it, going to look sooooo sweet.

I've got one of those in progress, and the TL Punishers do look awesome. The resin-plastic hybrid Vulture is the sweetest FW model I've had the pleasure to build to date. It is an awesome kit. Could you post some more pics of your Vanquisher, please? I'd like to see how big the barrel is on it (having been accused of converting an excessive length barrel on my Vanquisher). Thanks!

sure I will take them now, the barrel length is enormous. My plastic russes are actually utilising the vanquisher length barrel as a standard battle cannon because they just look cool, always thought the ordinary battle cannon was a little too short. There is no possibility of mistaking them for vanquishers beside my forge world one.

So that's a stock FW Vanquisher barrel? You didn't do any modifications to the muzzle brake? I don't remember seeing a muzzle brake like that one when I've gone through FW's Vanquisher offerings...
