Yes it's at the lower back. I'll try that out a bit later on. In the meantime sleeping on my back seems to have sorted it out a little bit.

I'm not going to pretend iv read everything here. I read your initial post rook, and that's about it!
I'm also not going to pretend that I am über fit and eat good. I'm slim, but drive for a living so sandwiches, mcds, and other junk food is what I mainly eat. Fitness is a game of 5 a side football on a Sunday, but even then that's Bly 2 / 3 times a month.
What I will say is that in another life I was in the RAF, and had to keep fit. Gym three times a week, and then 5 a side every weekend I was home. So that said, I'm not totally ignorant when it comes to keeping fit. I'll also add I won't pay for gym membership, or buy weights or anything - I'm not tight, they just wouldn't get used!
Diets annoy the crap out of me. Eat what you want, but in moderation. Smaller portions etc etc blah blah. Try and eat fruit and veg and all that.
Fitness is the easy part. Running is one of the best and its free to do. On grass is better for your knees and ankles. Go at a comfortable pace and if you get tired just slow down. Stopping is the worst thing to do and it hurts more to start again. So slow down and speed up when your comfortable. If your on grass, run a set distance (say 100 yards), and them do 10 press ups. Best position I found is hands under shoulders, down till your arms are at a 90o angle, then up straight. If your finding this hard, drop to your knees, but keep your knees as far from your body as possible, your not getting the benefit if our knees are tucked up to your stomach. Feeling adventurous? Then marine press ups are for you. Only do this once you have a good technique with normal press ups. So same as before, ands under shoulders, but as you go down, bring one leg up as far as you can (almost till your knee touches your elbow), without touching the floor. Then repeat with other leg. That's one marine press up! I think we used to call them BAS TARDS, because they hurt and make you shout it at the fitness instructor ;-)
So, switch between press ups and sit ups for every length you run. Good technique I found was laying on your back, legs best at 90o, palm of your hands on your leg, the sit up till the bottom of your hand touches your knee. Then down. Keep the movement controlled and you will feel the benefit. The three step sit up is good once you have done that for a couple of weeks. Same principle as before, only one sit up is as follows. Lay on back, do half a sit up, then back down, do a full sit up, then go down half way, then back up, then down all the way, keeping control at all times. If you rush, or drop, then your doing it wrong!
The key to the above is not amount, but the way you do it. Anyone can do 30 press ups, but I bet my left knacker they wouldn't be able to do half that properly!
Disclaimer: I'm not held responsible for injures etc etc. this is what I used to do to keep toned. 45 moms to an hour three times a week should be enough.
I tried to avoid words like workout, cos nobody likes to work. And used words like benefit, instead of pain. ;-)

I managed a 1-rep 65kg preacher curl. Still haven't improved on the bench. Makarova advises that I use protein shakes. I am refusing to and sticking to my usual diet of meat, more meat, banana and lentils.

Protein shakes (or as my friends and I call them, brotein shakes) are overrated. I use them rarely, and not for muscle building purposes, but rather to help my muscles repair after a really good workout.
As scotti says, water is better for you.
Now, if you really want to help your workouts, inject red bull directly into your veins.

Come tomorrow, it'll have been almost a week since I've gone to the gym. I dedicate this workout to Rook.
I may have lost my best friend. But I may have also solved another problem with designing the minis.

No, while you're close, I've known Makarova longer. Not to diminish our friendship in any way, you're a massive influence on my life. Drang Miniatures wouldn't exist without you. Though I do miss you. In your honour: 3 reps, 75kg incline bench. Also starting on doing military presses.

If they ever get a one, we'll probably notice by your lack of positing. pos·it transitive verb \ˈpä-zət\ pos·it·ed \ˈpä-zə-təd, ˈpäz-təd\ pos·it·ing \ˈpä-zə-tiŋ, ˈpäz-tiŋ\ Definition of POSIT 1 : to dispose or set firmly : fix 2 : to assume or affirm the existence of : postulate 3 : to propose as an explanation : suggest Never friend. If they score it will be ME that will laud their long earned success. Of course, then I will just go after them with more hate and fury.
