Right. 9 press-ups, 12 girl press ups. Not brilliant, but at least we're back to the level I was at before.

Sounds like a great idea Rook. Everything looks good so far and I hope it works out for the long run. Not entirely sure what I can advise you with seeing as I'm a 20 year younger woman with an incredibly fast metabolism (can eat anything and stay in shape) and the ability to build musclemass very quickly (back when I started working out I tripled my biceps mass in a week) and keep it. Lucky me I guess. My current training scheme was cut short when I damaged my back (trapped nerve) and couldn't do much for a week, and stress with the new job has also made me a bit slack. Starting up again now though. Daily excercise is from 1830 til 1900 and includes in rapid succession: - 30 lifts with each arm, 10 lbs/5kg dumbells. - 30 sit ups. - 20 squats, gonna up that soon. - 20 push-ups (boxing style, but by the knees as I lack proper core strength to do "proper" ones yet) - 30 sit-ups. - 30 lifts with each arm, 10lbs/5kg dumbells. I can do more sit-ups, but strange as it sounds my leg and back muscles get a bit worn after 50 or so. The abs are fine, and rather impressive by now. My best technique for excercising is to do it daily. You don't need to feel like doing it, you need to get off your ass and just do it. And doing it regularily tends to reward itself, even if you have to build it up slowly (I started out using 1,5 kg dumbells and doing 10 sit-ups). Motivation is important as well, I have a strong one in that I have a strong image of myself as a physically capable, dependable woman. Also looking to get back into boxing again, and me and RT are going to start going to the gym together once or twice per week once he's back in the country.

Awesome Maka. The positive mental image has been the main thing keeping me driven as well. Well that and the scorpions.....just kidding.

RT, you need to do many more than 1 set to see any growth. Try doing incline, normal, and decline for as many reps as possible and do 3 sets each.

Casually doing chin-ups in my spare time at work, and my manager comes in and chops my shoulder.
It feels weird, and not in a nice way.
However, I have been doing an immense amount of Kinect sports for the Xbox 360. If you don't know what it is, it's a sensor that uses your movement to control the game.
20 minutes of shadow boxing. 20 minutes of running on the spot with intermittent jumping (hurdles and 100 metre sprints). 20 minutes of jumping and lunging (beach volleyball). More shadow boxing. A bit of bowling as cool down, followed by painting.
And I enjoyed every minute.

I would say it hurt if someone chopped my shoulder. Was it bare handed, or meat cleaver?

I'm guessing Walrus is a man-killer in sheep's clothing. When he said "it felt weird" I think he meant "it felt weird not breaking his neck and giggling with glee".

Bare handed... Think 'karate chop'.
Man killer in sheep's clothing?

Finally got around to trying the elevated pressups. Really worked the old arm muscles I'll say - could only do eight. Can anyone recommend me an exercise to work the 'pectorals?
- 24 crunches as well. Really good for working the old abs out. Not so good for core strength, I'd imagine, so I'll alternate sit ups with crunches between each day.

I really didn't want to train tonight but I did it anyways. And the whole time I imagined having sex with Suzi Quatro.
That friends, is inspiration.

I have to disagree, combining sit-ups and sex was just mutually distracting and a sure way to not get anything done!

Today, ten standard pressups, followed by thirty lighter ones. Anaerobic respiration has definitely occurred, considering it actually hurts to type this.
