Ok so we all know that I love basing, and our favourite Guardsmen/Space Marines/Xenos need to stand on something.
Love them or hate them, bases are a necessity for modeller and gamer alike.
As many of you know, I've resorted to making my own scrapyard themed bases as the resin base producers of the world cant provide to my needs.
But what bases would you have if you could have anything?

I would have bases themed to a rubble strewn battlefield. I just love the look of debris, rocks, etc, on a miniature base. It seems to fit the 40k universe quite well, IMO.

Yeah, I agree. I think I'm going to have a go at snow and desert bases as I think these are quite often overlooked, unless you play tallarn or space wolves armies

I want to try and go about a rubble city snowscape. combining the three. I think it would fit my figures well.

I just need to try and figure out what a good "snow" material would be. I'm just not a fan of flock... it's too particle-y? Any suggestions, 3ff3ct?

Even better, I will show you Although you'll have to wait a little bit I am fairly patient as I do have to order my Krieg figs through FW ( I live in the US one month delivery minimum). Plus I have had very little time since saturday to dedicate time to my addiction. Can't wait to see your work as usual

I just had a really cool idea... Having a khorne berserker in a stalking pose on a snow base, and have a snow-looking substance on the armour and a bloody footprint if there is enough room.
That leads to the idea if a thousand son standing in a statuesque ( spelling?) pose with a heavy snow/desert bank around it's feet like it has been standing in the same pose for a long time, with really bright glowing eyes.

desert looks pretty good, although the lighting could be better, I think. The WIP snow bases seem to be turning out nicely. Keep us updated, would love to see some more

The bases I like most is city bases with some war damage and mountain bases. Would love to do some real nice mountains bases where the guards almost climb around.

City bases are a bit easy for me now, as most of my guard are on them I might try jungle bases next, although mountain bases sound interesting.... Do you mean having ledges etc to put the models on?

I find many city bases boring, both the best bases I have seen has also been city bases. When hiking in mountains most of the time it goes either up or down, sometimes you have to get down on all four and climb. Other times you need to hug a huge stone or cliff to get around some drop. One of the thing to remember is to ad small shrubbery and plenty of moss in the cracks. The air in most mountains is very humid. The best bases are really those who think out of the box (or base ). It wh40k there is no limit to your terrain. It could be a bluish desert, pink snow, there is no limit. Frozen desert could be cool too.

I love my sentinel bases, with them stepping over lava cracks and barbed wire. I have yet to paint them though. In fact, the bases are the reason the I always take my pair of sentinels in every game. I used some green stuff, bits of slate and some of the resin basing bits that GW sells in the box.
