A little cheap. Makarova had them much more expensive @ 55/ 3, with extra bikers @15 points..
BUT they had higher WS and combat drugs, and yours are just normal guardsmen, so it could work. It will be easy enough to cost them higher @12 points each; I'll just remove a biker from each squad. Aside from that I like the idea of the attack bike and love the shotgun and carapace options, even though I'm not using them.
We need to playtest this at some point...

Talking about playtesting perhaps we could have an IGMB equivelant of Chapter Approved for the next meet up.

For us it should be 'regiment approved'.
Did anyone else notice : not a single SM army at the meet-up?

Ok, quick question. Do the Bikes still have the TL Lasgun? If so then adding a shotgun option is completely redundant due to Bikes giving relentless. The TL Las would trump a shotgun hands down. Otherwise what exactly is the unit compensation for? The lack luster las pistols for the whole squad basic weapons give it no range at all, they receive no advantage for assaulting due to restrictions on bikes needing one hand to drive no paired weapons, make Grenade Launchers available to 4 models for 5pts per model, instead of being a sidecar/gunner mounted. Range 18 should be a good feel on bikes. Marine scout bikes cost 20pts+10 with 3 avaliable and there Grenade launchers get a full 24 inches and rapid fire.
Also, the armor needs to change, instead of 3pts per to get Carapace make the base cost for them 15 and give them a 4+, as 3pts per model seems too much a throw back to older dexes and not very friendly flowing. Heck even Eldar Guardians on Jetbikes get a 3+ Armour and they cost 22pts.
Then I would also say forget about 5-10 per squad and call it a Full 10man requirement. Otherwise what are you getting? A few tough 4 Guardsmen? For 10 pts a model and 5+ armor, that cant take orders? Kind of a lack luster point sink otherwise.

Still it would be nice to differentiate between flak armoured guardsmen and carapace guard, so I'd like the upgrade options.
Not with T/L lasguns on the bike. No weapons on the bike and laspistol or shotgun options. Who cares if the range is lousy? You can turbo-boost a melta attack bike across the board and then hide it behind some terrain, then the next turn you can do serious damage to enemy armour. The squad cost isn't bad - the most costly pieces are the attack bikes.

But, in a list that has minimal Armor what use would it be? It should be able to stand on its own, without needing a specific and limited target as Enemy Armored Tanks, or Heavy Infantry, when you have to drop the troop number by 1 or 2 to do it. Also, why get rid of the TL Lasguns mounted on the bike? That included in the base cost of the bike makes it good, epically if they can't take orders such as FRF SRF. With that you would be able to ride up to a 5 man Marine squad, light them up and assault in. Otherwise, I fail to see this idea becoming more then a substitute for the 3rd Ed Stormtroopers 5Man 2 Melta Deep strike Suicide Team.

I think Trick was trying to get it away from a Guard version of the marine bikes. I can see where you're coming from, but I think they're meant to be harassment troops, targetting weakend squads, grenading light vehicles and getting away again.

Exactly as Shostak says. If you want to add t/l lasguns for +XX points on top of the shotties or laspistols, then be my guest. These are ideally supposed to be dirt bikes, though, not sm bikes. I'm only using the sm scout one because I didn't fancy modifying an ork bike, which may look more the part

I imagined the squad as a cheaper, more mobile veteran chimera squad. I didn't want them to be overpowered though, they are supposed to be handy but not awesome.

I thought the weapons were TL because they were mounted on the bike, not hand held. I think tl flamers would be a very nasty thing to throw at an enemy.

Here is a link to Makarova's Codex:Cherno, which has rules for small biker squadrons, who can have more special weapons. It's up to you and your opponent to decide which to use... commissar.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=print&thread=9901These bikers have a higher WS and combat drugs, if you read it carefully, so maybe you can replace the higher WS and combat drugs with the t/l lasguns mounted on the bike. That way you get super guard bikers, VS the 'lamer' version that we'll try out.

Seems fairly awesome to me. It's a mobile cross between a RR squad (more mobile, less assault hitting power) and a chimera veteran squad (less resilient).

Thanks RT, that was pretty much what I was going for.
