Hey all, so I restarted painting after a few years (not that I painted lots during my first time) I've just finished my HQ Squad and I did my mortar teams as well. Granted, I didn't do all the details/shadow effects trim and all, mostly because I'm looking to play more than making art (at this time at least) so I wasn't applying myself that much, but i suppose it'll come naturally with painting more minis (and Emperor knows the IG got tons of those running about) dark-heresy.wikispaces.com/ArmyComments are welcomed as well.

I really like the reddish brown color and your painting looks really smooth and clean. Overall looks really nice without any shadowing/highlighting.

Very nice painting! Very clean. Makes me want to sit and paint the 100 guards ive got here! Still can't decide on a colour scheme though. Did you use any washes?

Killahtz-Yeah; my objective was actually to paint 'equal' and not have brush marks showing more than making a 'Eavy Metal piece.
Captain Cestus- No washes or ink, pure paint; The fatigues are a mix of my old colours pots, experimentation and SCIENCE. The fatigues' colour is a mix of Kammando Khaki, Blood Red and a hint of Chaos black (Gives a deep purple), the armour is a mix of Catachan Green and BOLTGUN METAL (the shiny reflextion of the armour can't really show with the digital camera/lightning) The metals bitz were done with a mix of BOLTGUN METAL and Catachan Green, then barely touched with boltgun metal, and the black is..well Chaos Black.
The colours were hard to pick; it's only after checking out my green shorts and purple t-shirt that I was hit by the inspiration train and decided on those colours for my army. for me, as long as people don't see the Cadian 8th when they look at my Army, I'm happy.
Thanks for the comments guys; 'least I know I'm painting in the right direction.
EDIT: Yeah it was Boltgun metal instead of Codex Grey...my mistake on that one.

I'm not a fan of GW's infantry models but these have such a nice colour scheme it's hard not to like them.

If I recall right...it's 60%- Kammando Khaki, 25/30% Blood Red and the rest chaos black in small drops to gauge the colour oh- and water as well to make it more liquid. even if I admit it was more of a trial and error mixing, the pencentages should be a good estimate.

It might just be my mad imagination but it looks a bit like the guys with the mortars are waving them around and making aeroplane noises. If that is the look you were going for then I request a juggling mortar dude

Hahahaha...nah, I was more aiming as the mortar teams preparing their shells to 'speed fire' shell after shell, but I admit it sure looks like they're bored and playing airplanes. Now I need to make a commissar to keep'em in check it seems.
but juggling mortar dude..good idea...better than my shrugging Guardsman idea I had.

A Commissar holding a pistol to the gunners head would be hilarious. Gunner: But sir, we'll reveal our position Commissar: Take the shot

They look good. I'm not a huge fan of purple uniforms, but you manage to pull it of. The red clashes a bit though, I would try a more muted colour. I as well support the juggling stove piper. Btw, one of the gunshield on a lascannons is the wrong way around.

This looks great to me. The colors are crisp.
When you do eventually get around to making works of art (because trust me, you will), I would advise making the contrast on the colors as little as possible. So, for example, don't use camo green on the armor. I think it would take away from the overall effect.
Just my two cents.

Btw, one of the gunshield on a lascannons is the wrong way around. Yeah, I noticed it after I glued it, let it dry while I ate, the glue was already strengthen when I realised it, mostly why I put a Sgt. head on the spotter, draws the attention away a bit, adding details (which sadly doesn't show up that well on the pictures, short of the teeth.) Yeah, I should start making the details on the armour soon enough; just need to find a good colour that matches catachan green+boltgun metal...perhaps the same with a little skull white? Thanks everyone for your C&C, more will come when they're done.

Hey everyone, me again! So the painting went a bit slow in the past week, I only made a PCC, and only primed and painted the officer, which in turn was my first metal mini,AND the first time I tried to did eyes and it didn't end up with blobs of paint smearing everything. I also did a little detail on the holster, turned out all right...I also tried putting Dark Flesh before painting on my Tarllarn flesh/dwarf flesh combo, it worked well, just in bad light, everyone tell me I got a Red Skull (more visible when he's still all primed up too) Here's the link; dark-heresy.wikispaces.com/armyThe last 2 bottom picture. C&C are always welcomed.

Added my first Platoon command Squad, and lowered the size of the pictures, so it's not horribly long to load. dark-heresy.wikispaces.com/armyC&C are welcomed

I like the 'corporals' in the command squad. Great idea.
Not a big fan of the red on the end of the lascannon but overall the guardsmen look great.

Hey me again, Christmas is done, life continues, and I've completed my second Platoon Command Squad, alongside guardsmen with eyes this time rather than a clever shadow trick. dark-heresy.wikispaces.com/armyHere is the link; the images area bit big, just wait for the loading. and of course, Comments are welcomed!
