I just have a thing about playing with unpainted miniatures, most of them built, just missing a few key components and then I'll get them on my paint station and whipped out in a month or less. Figure if I'm going to go overseas, I might as well as show up to show off.

just like my resin battlewagon. I never knew such madness existed! Yeah; it's in one of the Apoc. books. They used to sell it with 'Ard case as a 'Skullhamma' fortress, or without (like mine) with an open topped chassis.

Yeah you could easily fit 20 boyz on that!

Post by emptyhat on Sept 27, 2011 16:06:18 GMT -5
If you can fit twenty on then it should probably have a capacity of fifty given how boyz like to hang of the side or pile on top of one another.

But given how boyz also like shooting the hangers on into tiny little bits, just to cure their boredom, maybe we'll leave it at 20, like all b/wagons... Unless there was a Kustom upgrade.. like 'Da Big Dubbull Dekka', which could allow you to upgrade a b/wagon into a .. bus wagon.
You'd have to have an Ork Tikket Inspektar too, just for the laughs..
Edit - the driver model is pretty cool, too.

Alright everyone, looks like I'll be coming this time. I'm going to be doing a TEMPEST demonstration insurgency game (probably need 2-3 tables and a fair whack of urban terrain). I will be GM as the cultists/mutants/unholy horde. Each individual player will command a small, platoon-sized formation (around 20-25 models) working towards a number of separate objectives. Most will be common objectives, but some players may have individual, secret or even conflicting objectives in the game! My opposition will consist primarily of irregulars, namely cultists and mutants. While poorly-armoured, they will know the terrain and are fanatically devoted to their Dark Gods. Do not discount the possibility of unknown or daemonic opposition. Your Forces: I'm sorry to say that I am going to be a little draconian when it comes to force composition, just to ensure simplicity and ease of play for the game. I'm sure I've missed something here, so if you want to discuss your force, feel free to bring it up when you PM me. Each player's force will consist of four 5 man fire teams and a leader, with his own retinue/fire team. That's between 20-25 men. These soldiers will all be "Guardsmen" quality. They will all be equipped with flak armour (5+) and lasguns. Each Fire Team may be equipped with one heavy weapon. One Fire Team may be designated as a specialist formation. This specialisation may be: - Carapace Armour - Camouflage. - Sniper Team (replace fireteam with 2-man Marksman sniper team) - Special Weapons team (may select either one emplaced weapon or an additional heavy weapon. - Marksman/Warrior Team. Your leader's quality is dependent on their role and background. Feel free to use any kind of character for the leader of your formation: Tech Priests, Rogue Traders, Inquisitors, Imperial officers, adventurous nobles, pirate kings. Now, if this seems restrictive, then do not despair. These rules apply strictly for pick-up-and-play formations, to give a fairly unified and simple force that is balanced against everyone else's. Those of you who wish to bring a more specialised, customised formation to the fray, first of all, you're awesome! Secondly, please contact me via PM so we can discuss how to customise your formation to your liking without making things unbalanced. Advanced (Custom) Rules: Force Composition:
You may trade one Fire Team for the Following: Marksman/Warrior Upgrade (all units) Carapace Armour (all units) Camo Gear (+1 to obscuring) (All units) 1 Combat Drugs upgrade (Not more than one!).
You may add another fireteam for: Downgrading to Light Armour; Downgrading to Levy Troop Quality.
These allow you to either specialise your troops into an elite formation, or else field a large, horde-like formation of militia.
Leader abilities will be assigned based on their role and their backgrounds. So will objectives. So if you want to field Rogue Trader Heinrich Xessus and his force of mercenary infantry, out to loot dangerous artefacts under the pretense of supporting the counterinsurgency effort, then make sure you contact me in advance, okay? Who's interested?

Well I certainly am. Given that most of my squads are just standard platoons, I'll just take all the guys with lasguns, including 4 autocannon teams in there for heavy fire.
Although I'll be looking forward to Apocalypse games, as well. If I get a 4th super heavy this Xmas, I'll name it the Vesuvius Hetlan. It will have the command tank ability allowing allied guard infantry within 24" to reroll morale, and is also part of an apoc baneblade formation. My colonel will be riding shotgun in there.

I see. Plasma guns, then. My hands are tied on this(well I have a couple of flamers and meltaguns too, but meh) .Even better.. Unless I roll 1s. Edit - the extreme range is very long. 2nd Edit - Instead of the 20 man fire team, can I use 4 Predators], aka Hunter Aliens with guns (by Copplestone castings, Future wars range)? 2 of them have xenos harpoon guns and the other 2 futuristic xenos energy weapons of some sort. We'd have to have special infiltrating rules, chameleon suit rules and rules for the explosion in case they die (but if they get killed by a battlecannon, or something they won't have time to set it), plus they would have to be either tough or multi-wound seeing as each one will be worth 5 normal troopers.

I demand that Emptyhat makes an objective marker that is a sacred cup! I want to have a massive apocalypse game where he is trying to capture it.

We must capture the cup!
Instead of 'stealers the 4 predators could guard the cup and just do nasty things to anyone near it.

@rt. Count me in for Tempest. I may use my Reenegades though, for chaos on chaos action.
Maybe I ought to repaint my baneblade...

Tempest sounds pretty cool, like a 40k/necromunda crossover. I'll definately get in on it, although I'll more than likely be fielding the simple suggested squads, or maybe one squad of shotty vets (if thats allowed? ) for up-close-and-personal ;D As for the bucketloads of urban terrain, Maelstrom have a great selection and I can always bring some too if needed.

I think I'd like to invest some time in Tempest too - sounds like a good excuse to use my Beastmen... if that's groovy with you RT?

What do you lot use to keep your armies safe when traveling? Looked at the travel army cases and not sure if it'd really work well for me, army figure case could easily keep my infantry but what abotu tanks and supper heavies? looks like i'd need 3 or 4 cases from the pics lol.

@chem: Sounds good. If you could mail, FB or PM me the rules for these guys then I'll try to figure out how to best fit them in. Might be a little awkward with their being Xenos, but I'm sure we can work something out. 3ff3ct: Shotgun Veterans are most definitely allowed! (So long as the shotguns look like shotguns...anything that saves me having to do mental double-takes and work out which fire team has what equipment, ha ha!) @gabe: Imperial Beastmen should be just great If you guys could PM me some simple-ish army lists when you have time, that'd be really appreciated. This is shaping up to be pretty awesome.

ok i wont be able to afford it look at this, My current armies kept on a shelf or a box/shelf in my wardrobe and was thinking 2 army figure cases and the heavy support bag...will cost £200 just for that! and that wouldnt even inclue my baneblade and storm lord I feel. Do think it would be a good idea if you have any other company minis to brign a few along even if they aren't part of the army, just so we can all have a look and see what we like. Just an idea.
