Just wondering, does anyone use valks or vendettas as drop pods? Basically, deepstriking and unloading troops. Or does their scout move get them wherever they need to be without the risk or delay of deepstriking?

Most use I've seen of them is outflanking, coming in off an edge, and then dropping their cargo--I'd say I see this tactic about 95% of the time. I don't think I've seen anyone deep strike them...

Deep striking valks and dettas is not actually a valid tactic for anything. When you can scout then move to where you want to put your troops turn one, then fire guns of everything, it's just...
I was never the biggest fan of deep striking, and having tried it many ways with marines, I just can't stand by it when the option to outflank, or just start on the table is available instead.

It's such a big model, and there's just so much potential for bad stuff to happen if it scatters... I did have a friend make really effective use of a scout move once, but it was quite a gamble.

Scout, outflank then DS.. That is the order of which i find it most usefull.. Starting with the most reliable one = the winning one...

Well you could use it as a drop pod but IMO thats a very expensive pod that has a good chance of getting its wing stuck in the bakery shop and the fat baker gets chopped up.
Not a good idea and not advisable..
But if you've got the balls,
Go ahead and deep strike that Valkyrie!

The good thing I see of a Deep Striking Valk, is that no one would expect that from an IG Army, so if they reinforce their flanks they might let their rear more or less bare, so as a bet it could work with some luck.

Maybe. But not as well as a scout move.

If you are using the deep strike as a kinda suprise tactics.. Then i'd say that a outflank move on a regular sized table would be just as good and a hell of alot more reliable, even without the Astropath.. And in general we can't talk about luck as a tactic..

Yeah, outflanking would definately be better, I was just wondering if anyone had ever used deep strike.
