everything looks awesome, but I am really looking forward to that stormlord/shadowsword. The reactive armor is looking awesome.

@ Ivory... yeah im loving the hasslefree p90's at the moment... the only problem is they are nearly impossible to make fit into a troopers hand. realised i finished the repaint on my scratchbuilt manticore so i thought id put it up and show you all... if you dont know this or havent seen it before, well i made it ages ago and painted it up kinda sub-standard... and after someone on dakka commented on it saying it wasnt up to my normal standard, i chose to re-model it and re-paint it. basically, i added new side armour panels, panels on the launcher and rivetted the whole thing... after that my shelf fell on it and broke it a bit... thankfully its a solid lump of foamex so it didnt damage the overall structure... well after some minor repairs it got a suitable paintjob and camo netting. i still may work on this further, but for the time being, i think it fits in with my army a bit better.

I really liked the MLRS stand in. One of my favorite scratch built models you have made.

ok.. prepare to defecate ones britches.. or not.. anyway... got a prototype paint for one of the darksider troops.. the squad will be painted to look like US army rangers... heres my inspiration so... here he is... just one for now... just a prototype i knocked up last night as a paint guide... as you may have noticed... he dont look like the original darksider prototype i made 6 months ago... ive based this models paint on a semi- modern US army rangers unit... for clothing hes wearing the ACU patterned trousers, a pcu jacket without camoflage... olive green armour and pouches... tan helmet, brown gloves and tan boots.... most of the unit will be wearing this configuration of uniform, although some may be wearing different camo trousers and different coloured jackets... mix and match depending on thier personal styles... comments welcome... i imagine this will anger some people as there is alot of different colours going on and will definitly not look very guardsman

Alright mate this is it. I couldn't withhold any longer sooo here we goo : The Manticore is looking much better and I've noticed a slightly darker more grubby appearance to your lightsiders and tanks, the likes of which really makes a differance. Makes them look like the marines from Halo Reach rather than those from Halo 3 (Both are fantastic, just one variant is slightly more realistic looking than the other). Have you tried the Hasslefree SA80's ? They look fantastic. They really do. I've noticed a lack of stormtroopers and I was thinking the SA80s could make cool hellguns with a little touchup ? Your new colour scheme for the darksiders is excellent. The Grey and White DPM is unique to your force and I believe that without this, your force may lose the cohesion where as at least now we can clearly see that both light and dark siders are from the same regiment and operate in a similar fashion to let's say US Rangers (lightsiders) and Delta Force (darksiders) or perhaps from a fellow british perspective territorial army and SAS / Royal Commandos Do I talk too much ? I do this when I'm flirting ;-) (that wasn't gay, it's just juicy)

I definitely wouldn't say 'anger' by any means but the choice of green I don't understand; from a realistic or 40k perspective. Otherwise I think the model looks fantastic.

Overall looks really good. If I would nit-pick anything it would be that it looks like his gun is lacking a magazine (it doesn't really look like a shotgun), the silencer is just slightly crooked and the dots on his pants look a bit bright for a darksider uniform.
But as I said, that's just nit-picking, it's an awesome model and you probably can't even notice those things on the table.

Overall I think he looks pretty darn cool, but you have a grain of sand out of place on the base, Not to nit-pick or anything I always enjoying looking through what you have made, everything is unique but on a hole other level of unique. Look forward to see what you have next Major Downer

Very nice Ashot, really good model. However, I don't really like the different types of fatigues together or the 3 different armour colours. Why use green in the desert??? I much prefer the other darksider scheme. It does look good anyway though so feel free to disregard everything I said.
Sorry if I have been harsh but maybe you would like some critisism among all the praise you recieve??? ;D

I sincerely believe that ALL your models should be in the Lightsider colour scheme. I mean the darksiders look awesome n all but I used to have different divisions in my old IG force and the cohesion just kind of fell apart. It was like I was fielding six different regiments in one.
All 3 of your colour schemes ROCK. I just REALLY prefer the Lightsider one most. It's just pure epicness. Anyway, your models rock so does your style so Ima shut up lol

@ ivory yup, ive definitly chosen to make my stuff a bit more grubby and used... the russ is going to have additional weathering as is all my vehicles... not as much as some do, but just a bit... as for the hasslefree SA80's... not a fan at all.. i just dont like them much and im sure that bullpup weapons will be a female dog to model into the troops hands and hard to make look realistic... also i have ordered weapons from hasslefree and they are good to the 28mm scale, but not to 28mm 'heroic'... they just look small, thin and useless (insert p3nis joke here) .. i did however come across a company displaying their products at the war and peace show yesterday called 'acurate armour'... their stuff is all 1/35 scale and very well made.. sadly their prices are crazy expensive (£9.00 for 5 rifles) .. i did however get myself some l129a1's (dmr m16 used by the british army) for £9 as they look awesome with crane stocks and acog scopes.... really if i were to buy new rifles to model with, im inclined to use 1/35 scale ones as they just look beefier in the hands of the guardmen. the grey and white dpm is my representation of the usarmys ARPAT (ARmy PATtern) or acu (army combat uniform), which is a 3 colour digital pattern designed for a universal use for all enviroments... in real life this got slated hard but it is ok for desert and urban enviroments, and less for woodland.. back to 40k... anyway the EDF use it mainly because they want one universal uniform to cover all the different areas of eden... but the darksiders differ from the lightsiders infantry that they get to choose what they wear depending on the areas they will be sent too... this unit of darksiders will be a unit that specialises in urban combat.. they have acsess to protective kevlar jackets in varous styles and colours as well as a choice of camo print styles to wear. the darksiders are consdidered the premium fighting force of the EDF and get all the best equipment and they are not ruled by petty officers with a hard on for the dress code... these troops take what they want from the stores and nobody would stop them... to put this back into a real life exaple heres a few real life units and my edf counterparts. standard infantry - lightsider us 6th ranger battalion - darksiders us navy seals - darksider aqua div delta force - darksider black ops UKsf (british special forces) - darksiders in real life some units have long traditions behind them and strict dress code.. heres a good exaple royal marines wear standardised british camo with standard british gear.. like this.. they are not distuguisable from any other british soldier. UKSF wear whatever the hell they want, many dress as americans so that they can pass themselves off as one as much of their operations are deniable ops. like this.. no dress code, no identification, no set gear style... but leave the talk of the british army out... ive based my army apon american styles... i see a 40k themed moden british army as alot more grimey and imperialistic than the EDF... they would look alot more laid back compared to that style. optimat... i thought the same about green armour when i was doing us ranger themed airsoft, but it just works well in all enviroments... consider this... really it does not matter what colour uniform you wear as with a bit of rough and tumble, its gonna end up taking on the colours armound you .. mud, dust etc... but the green armour is just for this single unit of darksiders, as its what they prefer to use... the next unit will be vastly different as im going to base them on us navy seals. @ johnboy069 - then your dads a full on badass... you should be proud and look up to him. egon... hehe... i dont pretend to me a master at what i do... i knew that silencer was crooked.. as is proberbly all of them.. personally i blame forge world ... i cant give you a reason why but it seems as good as any excuse i could come up with... as for the magasine... hmm.. im not sure if i should... the rounds would load in the tube like normal pump action semi auto shotguns... the acu pattern in the dark is really good camo... just because they are nightfighting troops dont mean they should wear black... black is one of the worst colours to wear at night .. i know you didnt say black but i think that many of you perhaps thought that so that why i said that... @ paxole... i think ive already answered that above but i do like critism... if i didnt get some critism, they i wouldnt have any need writing back other than to say thanks and look out for the next update... i like to talk about what i do and how im doing the EDF... ive seen alot of plogs from other websites and i belive im the only one doing it like this... but i do get creative block sometimes and critism helps me explain how and why and perhaps even make me think of different ways to do it... im willing to acsept ideas to make things too (time willing) ... @ ivory again... im a fan of cohesion... there will be a full force of lightsiders that will all use the same uniformand stand together... but the SF troops want to stand out amongst the rank and file and they will look different... their vehicles will also look different too... thats the nature of a realistic army... to have full cohesion is unrealistic, and thats away from what im trying to do... wow... ive never wrote so much... hehe... il put some pics up this week...before my girlfrind gets here from germany... she wont let me touch the computer while shes in town... not that i want my hands anywhere else that on her...

Classic, I understand entirely.
As for the EDF I can't help but remain awed. I have to admit I prefer the esthetic appearance of the standard british gear. I just love the high collars and shades combo REAL BADASS style.
But now I definately can see where your coming from. I actually realised that, with a simple emblem your models would have more than enough cohesion since their taking on a more realistic 21st century style of dress.
As a Brit, could this new emblem be the good ole union jack ?

hehe.. i dont think the union jack would fit... im still to figure out a flag and logo etc for the EDF... im not a very patriotic man and i didnt want to do another representation of a british army, theres another guy called ash on other forums who has done british very well... i like modern US, and that has given me alot of room for customisation..

@ johnboy069 - then your dads a full on badass... you should be proud and look up to him. Yeah I miss him a bunch. He died of cancer a few years ago. I still remember "boot camp" with my cousins and brothers every summer until we were out of high school lol. It seemed like him and his brother would put us through hell at that age . It is hard to believe the camps stopped about 10 years ago.

egon... hehe... i dont pretend to me a master at what i do... i knew that silencer was crooked.. as is proberbly all of them.. personally i blame forge world ... i cant give you a reason why but it seems as good as any excuse i could come up with... as for the magasine... hmm.. im not sure if i should... the rounds would load in the tube like normal pump action semi auto shotguns... the acu pattern in the dark is really good camo... just because they are nightfighting troops dont mean they should wear black... black is one of the worst colours to wear at night .. i know you didnt say black but i think that many of you perhaps thought that so that why i said that... That's supposed to be a shotgun? Then the silencer will have to work overtime. ;D That said, on second glance, it does look okay as a shotgun, it was just the sights and the supressor throwing me off. How about some shells in a sidemount on the gun? And yeah, wholy black isn't good at night. I was just referring to the actual dots on the camo pattern though. The actual pattern looks fine but for night-time ops I was thinking something a bit more along the lines of the US Navy digital camo (the blue-ish one). Still digital dots, just generally darker ones. That said, if you want you could just say that the Dark side has a lot of small illuminescent pebbles that are scattered all over the desert and that is what the bright dots are supposed to mimic. Anyway, cool model, and that's the important thing.

got some more bits and peices to show you guys... been really busy painting recently... first up... the basilisk crew... been meaning to get these guys finished for a while now... they are the original metal basilisk crew but added helmets and interceptor vests to make them look more like lightsiders... next up... i wanted my orgrns to have thier own dedicated transport but i thought the standard chimera was a little too small to transport 6 orgrns in so i got myself an tamiya m113 (m901 hammerhead) kit to convert for thier personal transport... here they are disembarking... thats all for tonight... i will post up the ogryn transport wip as well as another finished chimera, demolisher and the heavy bolter drone operator...in the next few days... just finishing off the weathering on the tanks right now.
