so you open the wrapper on your new battleforce, you wallow in the smell of plasticrack and look lovingly at your new toys...
then it hits you, you've got to build all the buggers now...
how long does it take you to assemble a battleforce?
i ask this as my desk currently has 2 battleforces and an additional command squad on it to provide all the infantry for my 1500pt army and frankly its a lot of plastic to get snippy and sticky with!!!

hits you? i love making my models! I tend to stick on a dvd and sit down wit hym bitz box. I've got making new kits down so much now I already know what I need in a little plastic bag lol.
so if it was just a plain basic mass produced build? could be as quick as half an hour up to an hour.
With the conversions and personalisation, any where between an hour and 2 hours.
But then again I do tend to have enough stuff like heads, backpacks, weapons and other equipment ready to stick on so saves me time...

oh dont feel bad wasn't trying to make you feel inexperienced or anything. Just form e I enjoy the building the most so I look forwad to it and plus I kinda auto pilot through it these days, I know what I want to achieve and I do (if badly lol) it's clear from my models I spend more time thinking about it than I do making.

not all arms fit that well together, so u should try a couple of different ones perhaps if you are finding some dont work well together, there should be one that does . The flamer and and nade launcher arms specifically are a little different, so if you pick out the wrong one, it can be a real pain trying to make it work........... TBH, buidling takes me ages, put on a movie, or some tunes, or see if any buddies want to meet up for a modelling night, helps a bit. If you start converting.... well add to the time considerably, but well worth it. I've spent an hour customising some ones las pistols (to a sub machine gun version) loooks great, but tbh, if you want em done quicker, avoid too many conversion........ Maybe get a couple fo squads done straight out the box, and then start thinking conversions Good luck, and try to remember........ it's supposed to be fun

Actually matching up the arms helps them fit a lot better. I was putting a squad together yesterday and I matched the left and right arms according to the letters on the sprues, wheras before I had just cut everything off of the sprues and pulled what I wanted out of a giant pile.

for lasguns the matched letters make life easy its the special weapons trying to vary the poses slightly that took the time.
hvae done all the command i need all the special weapons i need and started on the heavy weaps, will do the lasmen tonight hopefully...
deffinitely not helped by the fact i'm off work with flu so have no energy either!!!

When the hobby feels like it's becoming a chore, stop. There's no point making yourself do something you're supposed to enjoy.

I disagree, sometimes a bits of a hobby can be like getting have over a big hill, or like exercise: After you do one bit that is a chore you might a fun bit ahead of you, or you might have something that was very much worth the effort you put into it.

Do you want a 'tabletop, itll do, dont pick up the models to look as they arent great' army or one that you can be proud of? Taking a bit of extra time to clean up models (mold lineesss!!!!!!) and put them together well makes a huge difference on the standard of the army. I say make a weeks worth of evenings out of it, swap bits here and there and enjoy the experience. Its not everyday you get to build your amy! Also, if you find infantry the 'boring bit' space the squads out with some fun objectives or armour, that way you won't loose the will to live

the problem i have is all the armour is built from years ago i just need some weapon swaps and it can be repainted...
i am doing the taking my time thing removing as many mould lines as i can etc...
although today even that isn't happening as the manflu has defeated me!!!

I take my time building, I usually go through a couple DVD's on a free day/evening ( depending on weather and if I have plans ) to clean everything and build poses. I'm in no rush and quite honestly I want to be proud of the Army I put on the table. I spent all this money on it, I should at least spend the time to make it look right.

I agree with 3ff3ct and Obscura : if you're going to do it, do it right.
Assemble a normal-sized tank, without cleaning mould lines = 30 minutes
Assemble a normal-sized tank, with cleaning mould lines = 1-3 hours
Now imagine how much clean-up there is on a plastic Baneblade.. Not that I'm complaining; the aspect of the hobby I love the most is whittling mould lines off, with a hobby knife. Also practise makes you dead handy with a surgical scalpel.

done the equivalent of 1 battleforce over 3 days of feeeling really ill but am happy with all the poses etc. the remainder of the stuff will be done after the stuff now assembled is painted...
i now have my base 1500pts all assembled accept for the vendetta which still hasn't been delivered. the remainder of the pile of plastic is all the infantry to take it to 2500pts if required.
