The one you have seen have probably been this one: www.coolminiornot.com/223175?browseid=4099365It's Epic scale, and not 40k scale. Based on Hindenburg Zeppelin kit by Revell. There is another thread in forum about Zeppelins. There we concluded that if it should be anything like the real thing you have to make it yourself. This is the largest thing you can buy that I found: www.skytrex.com/291/red-eagle-zepplin/If the scale should fit with 40k I think it should be around 4 meters in length. Cheers.

40k is all out of scale though, there's no way in hell you're going to fit 6 ogryns in the back of a chimera, let alone tel me that a leman ress is only about 2 metres tall!!!

Lool great links Gerner. The red eagle zep is perfect just way too big and a bit pricy. I was kind of hoping for something more 40k scale at around 30 - 40 bucks...

I'm wonder if there was a High Lord Zeppelin, or possibly a Arch Magos Zeppelin, in the 40k universe. May explain the name a bit, as Zeppelin is a brand.
Sorry, it is just that airships are one of my favourite things. I wish that they still had passenger airships crossing the Atlantic. Maybe their time will come again, we shall see.
I think that an airship could make a good game board. I just don't see the scale working with anything short of a huge apocalypse unit that takes up half the board. Maybe something that could carry a tank or two could work.

My favourite of all the battlefields. I used to love the hover tank and giving walkers the old "pilum enema".
I know that the FW Badab War books have rules in for ship boarding actions. I really need to play a game with those.

Well yes, since the 40K universe is our universe. Otherwise you have to make up a General Lord Shrapnel, Petty Officer Gatling et cetera, et cetera. There are a lot of brand names that are originally the names of the inventors, Zeppelin just being one of them.

I knew Gatling but didn't know Shrapnel. Now to look him up.

A good boarding assault game would rock. Capture the bridge, etc... defenders must hold off 7 turns. Attackers get reserves, etc... man that would rock

Haha i think if i saw one of these on the battlefield i would raise an eyebrow or open my eyes in disbelief. I think it would totally fit with the guard but there's something funny about it. Guard are mostly WWI-WWII-esque anyway so i suppose it'd fit really well. Here's a question though: What's the armor value, stats, weaponry or even possibly troop capacity? Forge world should totally see this. Maybe then we could have some experimental rules worked out for it.
So if i found out a new way to wipe your ass then people would call it by my last name? Well as long as it doesn't involve 3 sea shells (name that reference and hopefully it's not too hard). I suppose i just insulted myself with the first statement. Meh who cares.

Thomas crapper didn't invent the flushing toilet but he did invent manhole covers....
Also, guardsmen zeppelins disgorging tanks, sentinels, troops and more troops en masse into an extremely bewildered and awestruck enemy stronghold would be EPIC.

If you make one with rules, one condition: You need Ride of The Valkyries to play as they moved.

The Soda bottle Zepplin would be good as a Commander's personal observation vehicle. You could play a scenario where it has been caught in front of the lines and is under assault.

3 sea shells is from demolition man. Awesome film, but I bet it's dated now, been awhile since I've seen it. Isn't Arnie supposed to be president of the us in that film?
That zeppelin mini looks awesome. I think for armour value two a few things need to be taken into account. First they is armour on the underneath, so I think they would be a low value protection from ground fire, maybe av12. Also if attacked by air craft then I think they should be no armour value, or a rediculously (spell) low one like av9.
Transport I think should be 40 guardsmen or storm troopers only. So no ogres etc. The only way to enter the battle field would be parashoot (spell), and that opens up another can for rules...

Why not say that the armour is provided by forcefield? AV9/12 doesn't seem viable for a battle unit.

Make it an armoured airship, like the fictitious Kirov class from Red Alert 2. AV14 all around and structure point galore.

I remember Kirov's made the second half of the campaign quite hard because I enjoyed spamming them more than sensible strategy.

Well I was thinking that the airship wild still be in the traditional way... A giant ballon supporting a structure underneath. From the epic mini it looks like it still is a balloon, but with armour plating below. I think a full armour airship would be just too heavy to fly, and would the imperial guard use force field technology just to protect guardsmen? I think the airship would be used in two roles. Fires a troop transporter to drop mass amounts quietly (i imagin an airship would be much quieter than another aircraft) of troops behind enemy lines. Or/and a weapons platform to rain down massed fire power from above while a ground assault takes place.
Red alert 2, now that's retro. I had a copy of that but my x42 speed cd-rom (epic in its time) burnt a hole in the disk!

You're right about the movie but arnold wasn't the president in that film or at least not to my knowledge. The guy that led those people tried unleashing that one guy on everybody though (was it dennis rodman?). Arnold made governor so that's something. He can't be president no matter how hard he tries unless the rules are changed. From what i remember you have to be born in the U.S. to become president of it. Not a big deal i suppose. You all have your respective countries you can wish to lead and something tells me the politics there probably isn't as strangle-to-death worthy. I was actually thinking of the kirovs too. Maybe it's just made out of lead or something weird or is just there for jokes. I don't think such a big vehicle would be a very wise transport option if it had a low armor value and it'd be very expensive to buy even if it did exist. I mean if you throw 40 guardsmen in there it's still quite a bit of guardsmen and if shot down all of those points just burn up with the blimp. This is probably more something the 40k would use during football games or similar. Considering this is a UK game you probably have rugby or whatever though. We do have blood bowl though.
