Thanks 3ff3ct! I plan on giving it a whirl in a few days. My spring break starts tomorrow and after that I have nothing to do for a week, so I plan to work on my guard a lot.

So I woke up the other morning, I woke up and decided to change the color of my army. That being said, both the infantry and armor. This is what I came up with. First up, the Infantry. I added a wash of babab black on the grey fatigues, and (obviously) changed the armor from orange to black. Comparison to the old scheme. Next is my tanks. I've only completed the turret so far. Since I've never done highlighting on 2 schemed tanks before, should I highlight codex grey over black, and when the scheme goes back to grey, do the 50:50 grey/white scheme? Any advise or opinions would be really helpful. C&C is always welcome.

I like it, both the tank and the guardsman. Nothing wrong with the orange armour though. It looks cool in an urban enviroment
What are those black and white lines on the tank, though? Looks a bit weird.

What are those black and white lines on the tank, though? Looks a bit weird. I think they are supposed to be battle damage, which I think looks pretty damn cool. Great looking force you got going on there.

egon- look at Cosmic's Bombard I like the new scheme! Orange just seems a bit... "HEY, I'm over here!" to me. The tank looks great too really sets it off from the solid grey.

I like the addition of the stripes on the Leman Russ, however I think I prefer the original body armor scheme on your troopers. The new scheme looks nice and all, but the orange really makes them pop and gives your army a unique look...

Thanks for the input guys? What should I do about highlighting on the black parts on the tank? Or should I do nothing at all?
@trooper, I liked the orange scheme, but when it came right down to it I just thought the black looked better. As the repainting goes on, each squad I have is getting customized in some sort of manner. Pictures will come when I finish with them

To highlight the black on the tank, I'd suggest lightly dry brushing the edges of where the black has been applied with Codex Grey. I'm sad to see the orange armor going...

So, I managed to do some work on some of my Guard. Heres what I managed to get done (which was a miracle, considering I got Mass Effect 3 :/) And while rummaging through my bitz box, I stumbled upon his worthless figure Well I found it, figured I needed a Master of the Fleet/Ordnance, and made this wonder with a little bit of love. Thats it for now. Let me know what y'all think. C&C welcome as always.

Hmmm I too preferred the Orange, it really made your Guard different. However, that is a good conversion I've always wanted one of those pilots.

Thanks guys. AshotNINJA - The figure's name is Lt. Varras. And petercooman is right, its from the Battle for Maccrage. I do have an extra one laying around that I can give you, but it's probably going to be expensive shipping from the States to the UK. PM me if you are interested. @cosmic- I did like the orange armor and I'm going to miss it, but I just felt like they stuck out TOO much, at least for guard.

I gave Varras a peaked cap and a vox and used him as my old master vox operator, got another one with a head swap and a heavy flamer. I think he is a pretty handy figure to have. (That's him behind the Commissar.) Using him as an advisor is probably the best use for him nowadays, well done Zeke.

Thanks Ymmot. And your right, the only place he really fits in is with my command squad as an advisor.

That's a nice conversion of the Lt. Varras mini! The only thing I'd say to critique it is that MoO/Fleet Officers can't have bolt pistols, IIRC, but it looks pretty bombass awesome. I wonder if I still have mine kicking around in a box somewhere? I had started painting it, but then went "meh" and stopped. IIRC I was going to call mine Lt. Poindexter...

@trooper- Thanks. It was really a spur of the moment thing. I originally planned on using him as an objective, but then decided t take a saw to him and make him the MotF/MoO. And if your right about the bolt pistols, then I'm up creek without a paddle :/ upguardsandatem- Thanks a lot! I'm still working on them, and hopefully I can get them all updating them. I still have about 15 guardsmen to paint, and then 4 Russes and a Chimera.

Swapping the bolt pistol for a las pistol should be a relatively quick fix--make sure to check the codex though to make sure I'm not remembering things incorrectly though!

So I finally found my camera, and decided since it was such a nice day outside, I was going to shoot some pictures of what I've been working on these past couple of weeks. First, I updated my Leman Russ by adding black stripes, and adding ogryn flesh around any metal part, giving it a rusty look. Next, is Veteran Squad 1. They are completed, but I'm still working on their Chimera. I wanted each one of my veteran squads to have a different look to each, so the first squad I added gasmasks and put on some sort of backpacks or kits, as seen below. My second Vet squad I focused on giving the guardsmen a ccw of some sort, taken mostly from the Space Wolves in the form of combat knives. Only got 6 of 10 done so far And lastly is the first member of my infantry platoon. Since I've never used platoons before, are there some things that work and others that don't? Any tactical advise would be greatly appreciated. Any C&C is welcome as always

A grenade launcher and Autocannon combination is always dependable, for the ability to threaten both infantry and transports.
Stunning looking army sir; a force to be proud of!
