This is not for me, but for my friend. I decided to make this thread because I...well, I completely thrashed him and I want to help him improve.
Basically, what happened was that we played an annihilation game. The casualties by the end?
Me: 3 Veterans, Sentinel had its lascannon blown off.
Him: Full squad of Fire Warriors, full squad of kroot, 3 Crisis suits, 3 Stealth suits and the railgun on his hammerhead got destroyed.
We went 6 game turns before the game ended.
So, what tactics have you used to win the battle? He faces Guard (me), Space Marines, Chaos Space Marines, Eldar and Orks.

Fire Warriors in Devilfish have saved me more times than I can count. Devilfish are one of the hardest transports to break thanks to Disruption Pods, and are still rather mobile.
I tend to run three Hammerheads, two with railguns, one with Ion Cannon, but Broadsides are also a very solid choice for a Heavy Support slot.
I love my Kroot, I really do, but I find them to be very much hit or miss depending on the game. Running them as outflankers they tend to be a decent distraction for a turn, and if they make it into combat, they can do some damage with good rolls.
In the end though, with the current system, you really need to be underhanded and sneaky, as they'll fall apart to solid CC armies while also getting shot to pieces by decent gunline builds.
