So, I thought that instead of having a bunch of different threads with a few pictures here and there I've decided to start an actual army blog. Without further adue I give you the Krinov 5th, or at least what I've got so far. These is part of my newly painted desert squad. I still need to paint a few extra guardsmen and the AC gunner. The plan is to have at least one squad for each terrain (desert, woodland, urban and winter). I've mixed in a few odd minis as you can see and the plan is to do the same for every squad (Valhallans in my winter squad for example). Here they are posing next to a sentinel I bought all painted and ready. I tried to get the same sand colour on my guys as on the sentinel. A standard, woodland themed guardsman. This is how most of my guys will look: An AC team. The gunner has the legs of a firewarrior with the left hoof replaced with a spare Catachan boot and the right hidden in a tuft of grass. Sergeant Harper next to a Catachan who needs washing. You can see that Harper is actually slightly taller than your average guardsmen thanks to some plasticard under his boots and between torso and legs. A few guys from my trencher squad: Next up is finishing the desert squad and then maybe a few tanks and then the winter squad.

They look really good egon. Maybe slightly to dark after my opinion. I really dig the desert troops and that sentinel. Keep up the good work!

One handed grenade launcher= badass
I'm glad to see you went with no grey unit marking on the woodland ones.

Here's the desert squad in its almost wholly unbased glory. I wanted a bit of LRDP/SAS feel to it. Official gear mixed with "native" attire and non-regulation equipment. Next up is a sergeant from my Praetorians. I got a good deal on a bunch of them so I could probably do an entire company with just Praetorians but I prefer to use them as a sort of palace/temple guard. Since my fluff is that the world of Krinov house a very strong tech cult I've given them a red and black uniform. The sergeant with two of his buddies still waiting for washes. I can't decide on how to base these guys though. The obvious choice for Praetorians is usually some sort of desert or savannah but I already have that with my desert squad. I'm thinking of maybe just a coat of spacewolves grey on the base to represent the cool marble floor where they stand guard all day. What do you think?

More updates! First is the medic that will take care of my plasma CCS (when I eventually build one): Then we have part of my winter squad. First up are two guy well dressed for chilly weather and one guy who forgot his hat. Lurking to the left is my count-as Marbo. He's so sneaky that he even shows up blurry on camera! Then we have some more of the winter squad. I can decide on which camo theme to use. What do you guys think, left or right? When it gets cold fur and fire are two good things to have. The guy on the right has both: And leading this bunch of mismatched misfits is Sergeant Hugehat. I kept his original freakishly long right arm for sentimental reasons. And to make sure that no-one gets lost or runs in the wrong direction are my Steel Legion sergeant who sometimes doubles as an PCS leader and my Commissar, one of more than one: And sneaking around in the rear are Chosen men Hagman and Moore. Yes, I need to drill out the barrells.

I'm too lazy to drill out my barrels, I just paint them black. Good work, though!

Loving the Delaque ganger, think some more might find their way in to my army. They make good commissars. Sent you a PM about your doctor by the way

So, everyone else is doing in, so I'm also getting on the wagon. Getting some allies that is. I did play with the idea of reviving my orks as a fun ally for my Krinovians, if for no other reason it would be an excuse to buy a dakkajet, I decided to finally do my own marine chapter; the Sons of Ilmar. I'll probably play them as Space Wolves, since they seem to be the shizzle to ally with. Anyway, a friend of mine bought the new starter box and I got his autogun cultists and all his regular marines for cheap. He also sold me an old metal dreadnought and a rhino. Unfortunately he had played the dread as a riflemandread and he no longer had the weapons I wanted (Assault Cannon and DCCW) so I had to go through my bitbox (yay for being a former ork player!) to build some of my own. I think it turned out okay. Here's the result: Extra arour made from plasticard: Huge Crux to give it that Venerable look (if I ever need a Ven.Dread): Wolf pelt to make it more Space Wolves-y. Not sure if I should keep it: I'll probably also add so purity seals and smoke launchers. What do you guys think?

That thing looks incredible; good work on the plasticard. The tau burst cannon looks like an effective assault cannon replacement.
Personally I'd add a couple of those wolfy icons you get in the space wolf sets, to further wolfify. You have bare space on the plasticard, for example.

My first thought on the wolf pelt was see how it looks on one of the arms, like a decorative pauldron.
Armour plates are cool as hell btw.

I think the wolf pelt looks a bit wierd, have you thought about green stuffing one? You could always stick the head back on after. I also love the extra armout, and I think that some extra rivets would really set it off. Failing getting some wolfy icons on there, it'd be a great space to add some freehand

Thanks for the comments guys. The armour plates are dead easy, just plasticard in the right shape. I think the wolf pelt looks a bit wierd, have you thought about green stuffing one? You could always stick the head back on after. I also love the extra armout, and I think that some extra rivets would really set it off. Failing getting some wolfy icons on there, it'd be a great space to add some freehand The wolf pelt was just a trial to see if it would look good, it's just super-glued on. I can't do GS so if it turns out I don't like it I'll just remove it. I'll see what I can do about the extra armour. I'm thinking some kind of runes but I'm not sure. I will have time to paint it later this week.
