Thanks Guys ! vegna The Basing will not be a winterland. I like to place my models in a in-between phase between the massive thunderstorms of Krieg. Allowing the flood of water to run away fast through the volcanic ground and ditches. The dust and dirt does have the sulphur yellowish colour. The volcanic rocks are almost black. I´d found this picture and used it as my inspiration. the white stuff you see is an acrylic gel, Coarse Pumice Gel, I use often in my bases for the thicker sand patches. Like in this base for the commissar. thanks for watching guys.

PS. I like the whole horse idea, not in a gay kind of way but in a more sensual, seductive kind of way So, in a gay kind of way then? ;D Edit: On your bases, are those the kind of splints that are found in science class? They look so much better than coffee stirrers....

;D
about the wood it's not from coffee stirs, it's pieces of veneer 0.5-0.7 mm thick. perfect for this.

Hello, After 8 weeks of hard work, no free time, no hobby activities, I´ll pick up the paint job of my 231st At the moment I am working on a unit of 10 Grenadiers and a heavy weapon team with heavy flamer. inbetween or simultaniously wathever, I made the 1st rapier of a unit of 3. What I don´t like is the size of the Imperial Guard shoulder pad. I used a DKOK guy and used the arms of the Guard holding the Joystick and the handle of the targetting screen. and than to think that I already filed the shoulder pad smaller, but not enough. I must have somewere an DKOK arm with binoculairs that will go on the 2nd one and for the 3rd I am still thinking. (I perhaps will file down them further more.... ) (or just only use the IG hands on DKOK arms..... ) another thing is the use of the decal. (first time I used them). I am a little disapointed that the transparent surrounding is still visible after I applied it according to what you read on the internet. 1. applied gloss varnish 2. applied Micro Set from Microscale 3. applied Micro Sol from Microscale 4. give it a good time to dry 5. applied a layer of anti shine from army painter However, have a look at the last pic, which shows why I am a little irritated on this one. this is how it looks:

Question: which model(s) did you use for the Rapier crew? I noticed that Forge World does not provide infantry for the Rapier, despite it being both a Cadian and DKoK model.

Thank you Daniel, they are indeed great, there are 2 more coming up Posted by Jackal-0311 on Aug 17, 2012, 12:39am Those guys are sweeeeet. Thank you Jackal Posted by Welsh Paul on Yesterday at 11:03am Question: which model(s) did you use for the Rapier crew? I noticed that Forge World does not provide infantry for the Rapier, despite it being both a Cadian and DKoK model. Hi Paul, I use a spare DKOK infantry at ease guy with the arms of the IG which come with the kit. My next Rapier will be with the IG guy. He came with the Rapiers to Vrak as an Instructor. I did this after I noticed the IG guy provided by FW with the kit is wearing a gas mask, and therefore fits in the DKOK. I will post the pic tonight. I found an interesting way of saving some pennies this week - with some clever use of magnets and some spare Lascannons from a bits shop, you can easily swap between a Cyclops Demolition Vehicle (£10 from Forge World) and a Rapier (£25 from Forge World).

I am in some kind of a doubt. it is about the edges of the bases, I used Graveyard Earth for it, and I received a kind comment that, due to the brownish model scheme and the brownish base, the contrast could use some boost by making the edges of the bases in a real dark color. I tried it and must say I´m quite happy with it, what do you guys think ?

Personally i like the dark rimms alot more.
However if they were on a desert themed gameboard my feelings would be different.

I think the black is a little too dark. Maybe a very dark brown (what used to be Scorched Earth) would work better, simply as I feel there is no pure black on your models, and the earthy tone would compliment your paintjob.
It's obviously your call though, as they're your models!
I'd like to add that the rapiers look both amazing and terrifying at the same time. I would not want to be driving any armour anywhere near them!

Personally I would go with a brown/dark brown. The black I think is a bit to dark and stands out a lot.

Well, thank you all for your support, I tend to agree with the scorched brown.

I like black or very dark brown. The softer approach helps them blend in to a scene, but something with contrast makes a neater, more confident statement as a display model or a playing piece.
