Well I ordered my first load of Vallejo paints on Friday, and they arrived Saturday!
So tonight I've been testing them out and thought I'd share my thoughts. I ordered the Game Colour paints....
As well as the Model Air set which I will review seperately at a later date.
The Game Colour starter set that I chose contains 8 basic colour paints, 2 paintbrushes, a palette and a single miniature. I bought this from Creative Models for around £18.99 and it's a very good set!
I decided to test the whole set so here's some photos...
I undercoated the mini with the Black paint. It coats very well, somewhere between Citadel Foundation paints and the standard Citadel paints, and spreads nice and evenly....
The 2 brushes you get are very nice too, a small drybrush and just your basic small brush. I then very slightly watered down the Blue paint and applied 2 coats. I then made a wash using the black and applied it to the creases. The paint works well as a wash, however, you're still best off using Citadel washes. After the wash had dried, I started reapplying the basecoat and started shading....
A bit of NMM on the groin plate trim and this is where we are at the moment...
Even though I have only done the left leg so far, I really like these paints and really recommend them for a few reason....
1) They're cheaper than Citadel at £1.90 a bottle
2) They're in handy dropper bottles so you don't waste paint, and you don't have to get angry at a lid that doesn't stay open!
3) They're better than Citadel paints! They have much better flow characteristics, they're all a perfect consistency and they're just overall much better!
The review will continue tomorrow hopefully.
