This space is reserved for tutorials I will complete in the near futureSnowFirst off, I need to say that if you are planning on making snow themed bases....do NOT buy GW Snow Flock. Why? Because it's a massive rip-off and it's just stupid. This tutorial will show you how to make much more realistic, and cheaper snow. 1) Buy some Rock Salt This particular box was £1.29 for 500g.........GW Snow is £5.10 for a minimum of 15g!!!!!! Rip-off!!! 2) Pour some into a bowl/mortar *Edit: Use a blender if you have one. It works so well! Just pour the Rock-salt in and blitx for a few seconds* 3) Get grinding! Now the grinding can take some time, but the effort will be worth it for sure. 4) Use a sieve to collect the smallest crushed crystals, this will be your snow. Place into a sealed container and you're done, nice fluffy snow! Now that was only a few grams, think of how much snow you can make with a full 500g carton.

Nice. Hard work clearly pays off.
For anyone who is too lazy for the above master class, and buys snow from gw, try this:
Mix snow flock, pva glue, and skull white pain in a small container until its like a porridge. Appy to area and allow to dry. Once dry, spread some pva glue on the same area, and apply more snow flock. This should give the impression of fresh snow laying compacted snow.

Actually I refined my method yesterday for the shelf.......use a blender!!! It's epic! And will do a whole 500g of salt crystals in 2 seconds.

Yes yes I know it sounded rude, I wasn't thinking straight when I typed it.......sodding cold. I shall indeed explain that Ashot I might add that to the Intermediate Tutorials and show how I do my actual bases.

I hope you dont mind me commenting this cosmic.
But another cheap and easy way to make snow for bases is with Pva+Sodium Bicarbonate.
Set aside some sodium Bicarbonate in a tub for dipping the bases into.
In another pot mix some sodium bicarbonate and pva until it reaches a thick paste type consistancy. Paint onto your base using a spatula or the likes. As soon as your happy with the coverage dip the base into the tub of sodium bicarbonate. This final dipping will help give the 'sparkle' of fresh snow if you want that effect.

I've done the Bicarb thing before, the only problem is that it yellows after a few years. Add a bit of white paint to the mix and that should stop it going yellow

Even with the paint it will yellow. It takes longer to happen (around 10 years), but it happens all the same. Cosmic, what glue are you using to secure the salt for the snow? My concern is that the salt would dissolve to some extent into the glue. Also, how is it for durability on the gaming table, or is this more suited to display pieces? Secret Weapons Miniatures makes a combination of crushed glass and wet effect kit for doing snow and the results I have seen with that are nothing short of incredible. Any opinion?

Just PVA glue, it works fine. Once it's secure it's just like sand, it doesn't move. You might get a few dusty pieces fall off but that'll stop eventually. Yeah I was going to use crushed glass, however it can be dangerous to use. This is a much safer and cheaper option for similar results.

Ah yes, I think I stridently warned you about not trying to make your own crushed glass, and suggested the salt route...

I've been meaning to, Lemon
Just really haven't had enough time. Once I've got Prillas commission done I will use the rest of them for more tutorials. Majordowners can be a tutorial for vehicle weathering, Teku's for chipping etc etc

Snow and iceI suggest you the creation of snow. Everybody knows what "superglue" is. Small tubes of glue, which quickly glues. It has one feature, if it is lowered into the water, it becomes white and "folds." This is good quality. 1) We need a box from the CD drive. Super glue. And any base. 2) We break the box into small pieces 3) With the help of super glue, we glue fragments on the base. You need a lot of glue. It is necessary to fill the base with glue. The most important!!! It is not necessary to wait until the glue dries!4) Then you need to put the base in any container and fill with water. The most common water 5) The glue will turn white, and then you can clean the water and get the base. Drying 6) This is how the base looks after drying. From the left, I used a transparent disc box, on the right I used a box of blue.
