Well, i already have a good 2000ish points of IG and was planning on starting to collect an eldar army, and for this particualr army i've wanted to go for heavy, heavy firepower army, and i was planning on taking all rangers for my troops, now of course i would have other things to help this balance out and work properly, but i wanted to get some peoples opinions on using purley rangers as troops, and just scrapping all dire avengers/guardians.

All sniper army is not possible im affraid. I use 10 pathfinders (uppgraded rangers) and though they scare the crap out of any opponent they cost 240pts, 180pts withouth the Pathfinder uppgrade that 2+ to cover save and AP1 shots on 5+ to hit among other things. If you want firepower the Dire Avengers are there for you to rip the enemy apart with up to 6 squads and they only cost 120pts for 10 dire avengers (without exarch)! With their S5 Ap5 18" Assault 2 shuriken catapults and the Eldar ability to fleet of foot they are very dangerous, if you throw in an avatar in the middle of that formation you have up to 60 fearless soldiers! Also if you want massed firepower get 3 war walkers with scatter lasers (24 S6 shots and use guide and doom to max out the effect) , 1 fire prism and a full squad of dire avengers (and ofcourse a Wraitlord so you can vary your heavy choices to fit the role facing different enemies) Of what I've heard a lot of people deploy Eldar armies with a lot of starcannons, (the eldar version of plasmacannons), but remember that allthough they are S6 AP2 90% of the units able to field that pricey weapon have BS3 (guardians, vypers, falcon) so its better to pick a MUCH cheaper option of scatter laser 36" S6 AP6 Heavy 4, or Shuriken cannon 24" S6 AP5 Assault 3. The more hits and wounds the more saves and even space marine squads can't withstand massed S6 firepower (very good versus Deathguard aswell).
