Making My Own Manticores all GW Bits

I love to rain down big pie plates o' death on my opponents with a Manticore so wouldn't it be better with three.

Here is my first Manticore from the GW Manticore kit

I wanted the option to field more Manticores but I don't like to pay full GW price for new models so I came up with some Manticore stand ins using all GW bits. The bodies are Chimera sides and tracks with a Leman Russ hull (a Chimera hull would work but I had the LR hull laying around). The missiles are from two Valkyrie kits (anyone actually use them in a game on a Valk) and the missile racks are made up of sponsons from two Leman Russ kits. The standins are different from each other because the first one I built by gluing the sponsons side to side. This looked too high so the next one I glued them bottom to bottom.

They look rather nice sir, excellent job!

Once they're not glaringly white, some close ups wpuld be great. Right now I can't really picl out the details though.

Looking good, I would add some bed rolls or boxes to make the tank look a little more static for my tastes though, I love the idea of the Manticore being off miles away and parking up, awaiting a set of co-ordinates to make disappear, so a vehicle that looks like it's made to be parked up suits my image of the 'core better.

P.S. I plan on using Hellstrike missiles on actual Valks! but only on some. MMP certainly fit the role better.

Yeah if I go with a Valk, I use MMPs more often I just go with a Vendetta for the same number of points.

Sorry about the low quality photos, I'll work on getting these painted and see about a retake on the photo shoot.

3ff3ct, yeah the russ hull gives the whole model a beefier feel.
