I just got the new Ork plane and I'm thinking about what to do with it. Ideally I'd like a nicely customised piece that I can weapon swap between the variants. I've got to run at the moment but does anyone have anythoughts or general advice on this kit?

im planning on getting a few of these and making them less orky and use them as thunderbolt stand ins... i want them to look like a skyraider , or crusader (they are real life aircraft btw) ive checked the kits out in detail off the sprue and they really aint that orky... but thats just me...
if i used orks, i would make it a bit more scrappy like most ork stuff, it looks almost too well made for the ork race..

@ashot: I was thinking that too but having opened the box I'm reconsidering. I'd still like to "up Ork" mine but the kit is a lot better than I expected.
@tread:
Dooooooo it. Oh yeah I got the WD too if you wanted to flick through that at the same time.

i agree.... the kit is really really well made...
i think we are all within an hours drive of each other... we should all make ork jets and compare them over a beer.

That would be very very good... I went to the Brighton store today and had a look at a completed Ork flyer... they're smaller than they look n the WD which is cool.. It means I have the space for them on my shelves.. they will accompany my C-17 from Argos (by chad valley).. What I want to know is whether the guns that are built into the airflap (the ones with the ammo feed on the airbrake flap) can be repositioned - it looks like they have done this in the WD with the Blitzabommer but on the sprue this doesn't look possible.. I plan to put 4 big bomms on my blitza's and 4 supashoota's on my dakkajets.. and I'llpobably add the burna bommer wing extensions to all of the m cus it looks like your get left with a slot shape if you don'y.... and the skorcha rokkits will jut get re-allocated to other Orks (probably my Stompa with the Deff-Arsenal.. cus it's not got quite enough dakka on it yet). anyone written a list including one of these planes yet?... seems like they should either be attached to a Kult of Speed, or an airbase preparing to repel attackers. and while I'm here.. check this out for sheer awesome brilliance: nerdfighters.ning.com/group/gamesworkshopnerds/forum/topics/deff-skwadron-full-comicon a side note.. Ashot: you hade the Dali Lama in Aldershot yesterday!..

The edge of the wing slot is an 'outie' so I imagine that with a little care you can take it off, or maybe set it up so your bombs are removable.
If I'm reading your question about the airflap right then no I don't think you'd be able to move them without a some conversion work. The guns on the blitza bommer are attached using some different parts. I think you have enough parts to add both of these to your jet so I guess you could add more dakka to your dakka jet very easily and have it with three pairs of guns rather than two.
There are a lot of guns in this set. I'm counting ten: Two big shootas for the grot gunner (these are like the ones from the Battlewagon kit, I think), two supa-shooters that attach to the nose, two sets of two super shootas for the Dakkajet's wing flap gun, and two rather large supa shootas that attach to an extra wing component in the Blitza-bommer set up (this seems to be the part that gives your wing an angle).
If you want your guns in other places I think you'll have to convert the plane up a bit to house them but the guns themselves are quite simple so it should be doable.

Everytime I get close to saving the money up I have another mechanical dissaster or unforseen emregent financial suprise.. grrr... I shall get me a fighta bommer squadron!
I'm itching to build these models, I'm not sure now about the extra extra guns on the dakka jet, as I want a good distinction between the models.. I guess I'll have to wait until I have the bits in my hand and see what happens.
Time is so scarce now.. I reallly want to get the Vindicare painted before we next game, but even 1 figure in black is too much to find time for!.. bring on september!
