Hi guys. Below is my Mordian Leman Russ. This is very much a work in progress eg. I haven't painted the tracks, a few bits need highlighting and touching up, the black eagle on the dozer blade will be painted white etc. What I am worried about is that it looks a little plain. Does it need more colour or other additions? I do like the idea of having a pristine looking Mordian tank and therefore I'm not going to put any battle damage or dirt on it. Sorry about the quality of the pics. They're dark and pic taking is not more forte.

What's that huge gatling gun on it? Oh. you mean THAT'S the Punisher variant? I thought all forge worlds has discontinued that line of production after the core data was found to be extremely inefficient at anything more complex than a tow?
Seriously though it looks good, as long as drab green is what you were going for (that sounds nasty but I don't mean it like that) it's a good colour paint and is applied well, with the white and black stripes being very clean and suitable for markings. If it's meant to be pristine there's not much to suggest because adding details such as oily areas etc. will only spoil your feel - and if I'm honest I think that's primarily why you might feel it's dull - because there's not supposed to be any of these little tanky details that most other paint jobs will include. Of course Mordians are described as being a little bit clean so there's not real harm either way. You've already said you want to touch up some highlights so it would be unfair of me to go into that.
Good job, really like it.

Cheers for your comments.
I am painting my Mordians purely for asthetic reasons, hence the punisher. (I think it suits the look of them and, to be honest, they will only see action in apocalypse games where I am happy to field the punisher.)
The main colour is actually adeptus battlegrey. It has been washed with nuln oil, had the adeptus battlegrey re-applied and highlighted with codex grey. The photos don't really show it well. I may try and get some new photos outside if I get any sunshine tomorrow.

You might try some darker contrast colors to give it a bit more life. Some thing close to the major color then something very different but all still dark. Some dark red or charcoal greys if the tank is black. Here is how my black valkyries look with red tails and a grey stripe. You could put a unit stripe or red sponsons etc IMGP3602 by Doug Crabb, on Flickr

I ran into the same problem as you did. Originally my tanks were all grey, and I struggled to do something that looked different or made them pop. Then I opted to paint black stripes on the tanks. But another thing, if your not looking to do something extreme, is to paint the front end of the sides a different color. Refer to Trooper1974's thread, he did it. commissar.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=picpost&action=display&thread=11508&page=3 (its near the earlier pages) But other than that, its a very solidly painted tank and looks very good.

Here is a pic of some of the infantry. They are painted the same as the tank commander. I have done the stripes on all of my Steel Legion tanks so I was looking at moving away from that idea. I was thinking of putting a single vertical black stripe where the white stripe is on the above picture and a black aquilla towards the rear of each side of the hull.

I can't see how you need any advice, seeing as how these tanks and Mordians look pretty awesome

Thanks guys. They are very kind words.
I was just a bit stuck when thinking whether my ideas would look good or not. I wanted to see what other people thought before plowing on through and ruining what I had already painted.
I have one platoon of Mordians. I've always liked the models so I decided to paint up a platoon as more of a painting exercise than using them in games. They have, however, turned into a vortex deathstrike apocalypse formation. The manticore kit and a fat, 3rd ed commissar with powerfist are in the post. I figure, who better than a platoon of Mordians to protect one of the Emperor's greatest weapons.

I think the tank looks great as is. However if you do want to add some color why not do a highlight of a lighter green just to add a brightness to it. Personally I think the tank looks great as is.

the grass should be cut....... LOL
No seriously, you are doing very well with this LR and the rest of the army. Any change for a army shot?.
As you already said the metal needs highlighting. a nice touch could be using graphite for this, from an old fashioned pencil, because with that you can get the new and fresh factory look you are seeking.
