Having a smurf player at work tell me about a proposed new codex called apocolypse with 3000pts armies in it. got me excited. has this subject already been discused? if so i apologise. if not think of the prospect of six foot long ranks of guards whole squads of armour. and a proper enviroment to use the guards super heavy's. i think this would be the best forum to show just the shear magnitude of a massed guards caperbility

You know....if we all had the means...i think 3000pts would be a piece of cake, everyone here loves the idea of legion upon legion of imperial guardsmen storming the lines... ;D as a secondary smurf player, i'de say that apocalypse sounds a little cheesy, to the fact that im a dark angels kinda guy

GW are always trying to make the game easier and faster to play it'd be nice if the brought out a codex for bigger games (It'll be good from GW's point of view because people will go out and by more figures to build bigger armies).
But can you imagine moving 3000pts of IG or even Nids', It'll be like the old 2nd ed days.

whats wrong with the old 2nd edition days?? with 200 models in a horde army being common place that and the games of 4+ thousand points per side were kinda common place just cause the games ran so quickly.. well they did for me anyways go go orks from the old days.. Cheers Gris

as long as they make it simple so it doesnt take months to play a match. it will be awsome. 500 models marching to the sound of my pipers into a horde of choas filth would make my day. it will be pure weight of IG fire power. well im off to play soldier for real hope to catch up on this discusion next weekend. and find out what you all think. personally it looks all good.

I love the larger armies. I play games all the time with my brother with my guard army ranging from 2500-3000 pts usually. It takes awhile but I find it to be alot more fun.

Me and 4 of my mates added to gether our armies to have a 7,000 point battle with 3 other guys. we spent over 6 days playing and taking 8 hour sleep + eat breaks and it was IG against Nids we won with 5345 vp points to 5134. I slept for an intire day after and my parents banned me from 40'000 for a week.

And how much coke and chips did you pop over those 6 days huh? Looks like you had enough chips to make a 7000pt army MADE outta chips!

wotcha i was thinking about the whole giant legions thing last week and have come to the conclusion that more is better. however how i would fit a massed conflict, in around work could produce drama's. and as long games tend to get attacked by cats, dogs and angry other halfs that want there kitchen table back it could produce a lot of single gamers. though sleep depravation does tend to make things go more death or glory. andd i should say moving that many guard will probably put my back out.

dont think the cheap baneblade going to happen as what do you give the other races to compare i just think it will be a sanctioned expansion of the current sytem just allowing for bigger units and more points

every time I hear 'codex: apocolypse' I hear 'plastic baneblade kit' so you never know. every source that I've found discussing the topic has remarked positively on the superheavy going to plastics. ofcourse it's a rumor but it sure would be sweet and I've heard no info to the contrary yet. honestly, I doubt I'd even get a baneblade since I'm so into infantry (though they struggle so hard to just keep up, poor guardsmen...).

I heard the Baneblade will be released in Plastic. I dont think it will be for the Apocolypse book. That Book will be more like 'Eye of Terror". Just a campaign book. 3000 point games are hard for some armies. Dark Eldar will need a second HQ Organization chart for that large of a game.
