To make up the points I am just going to get an absolutely stupid amount of Tanks.
I think I have a problem, I am beginning to come to terms with it but it's hard..................... I think i am a tread head!

LoL, I am proud to say that I am not a tread head, tanks are fine and dandy, but what do you do when thousands of guardsman run across the table, guns blazing and such, with crazed officers? You run!

No Commisar, you reach for the dice and utterly wipe 'em out with ordinance, hull and sponson mounted heavy bolters and tank shocking.
Thankyou TB, it's now I am coming to terms with it though. The first step to getting better is to admit you have a problem. It's time to ask yourselves people, are you a tread?!

No. You completely wipe them out with thousands of conscripts running in there with a really pissed off commissar brandishing a plasma pistola and a power sword! That is how you wipe them out.

Last night my battle bunker had an Apocolypse preview game. 12000 points 8x8 table and 12 very crazed hard core gamers. Words can not despribe how freaking awsome it was. Game took about 4 hours. The death kill was amazing. Though having 3 monoliths in formation deep strike was a little worring there for a bit but of course the forces of good (read the imperiam players) destroyed all 3 and almost the entire force of evil.
a few notes. Ork killa can groups are a huge and terrible force. Stay away far far away. Titans are cool but i'm not that impressed by them. Standerd leman russ formations are probally one of it not the best formation in the game. Necrons are probally the hardest force to play against. But telaporting necrons are super easy to kill with template weapons. We found it an amazing game. Mostly because it was a group of people that for the most part have played for years, know each other moderatly well and with only a couple of minor rules questions that were easly dealt with. And with no problems we were able to get right down to killing each other instead of looking up rules questions.

LoL, my GW has relocated into a bunker shop, so when they reopen soon there will be a massive apocalyptic game to celebrate. Gonna be cooler than socks on a monkey.

I am in roughly the same boat. There is only one shop in town that sells GW products and I just bought their last IG boxed set, and they are considering to stop selling GW products.

can you mix and match factions in one army? like take a baneblade and a falcon grav tank? I've heard that you can in the rumormill but I haven't heard anything about it. something along the lines of 'if you can justify it fluffwise then you can take it' or something. is this so?

The only restrcition in Apocalypse is that your force has to be at least 3k big. No AOCs, no troop restricitons (like 0-1 Unit of type X), no race restrictions Nothing. So you can even put a Baneblade in a Tyranid army...

Very true. Basicly if it is in your collection you can use it.
This developed into what we called "the little kiddie game" In 2 14 year olds had a game were 1 of them had nids, marines, eldar and a few necrons in his force. The other kid had something similar to that.
Remember that Apocolypse was made for people that have been playing for awhile, are experinaced with the rules, and are playing with a group of friends. It is not made for pick up games. There is something like 4 or 5 pages of stratagems that can be used. (think cities of death on crack) There is a reason why the apocolypse book is $75. (i'm canadian so its probally different were you live) It is a freaking huge book full of well everything you could ever want. There are rules of the imperator titan. I'm sure you remeber that one from epic. The monster that was a whole army on its own? you can bring that bad boy down........though it just hangs off table and shoots at stuff though. Yes all the big stuff is in there, but really based on what i've seen its nothing a few lascannons cant bring down. Well you might need more that a few for a titan with all its void shields. But really i'm not all that worried about the big stuff. Its the couple of nut cases in my gaming group that are painting up huge groups of regular guys. even with the big templates we were only killing about 15-20 orks or necrons per hit. Do you have any idea how many orks you can fit in 3000 points? /shudder More importanly do you have any idea how many guard you can fit in 3000 points? When you arent running anything big? Besides its not about how much stuff you are able to kill. Its all about the objectives.

Too many Guard especially if you use conscripts. But I think it's somewhere between 200-300 if you're fielding vehicles. and 300-400 pure infantry.

No race distinctions is just dumb, a bloody baneblade in a nid army? Come on, draw the line some where GW, you've made us so happy so far, why turn it into a mess that would compare to an 800 foot tall metal stalin running through america eating people and turding out bacon. Jeez...

apocolypse is for friendly games - I imagine the race mixing stuff is just there to allow for things like marines with IG under their control and some sisters on the side or something like that that previously has been unachievable. or like my buddy who has a marine legion, a whole mess of guard regiments and the tau all on one side - it's his fluff for this whole faction that makes up all his dudes.

Ah, well I can see how having IG allied with Marines would make sense, but its just gonna be retarded if there is like, a baneblade with nids... I really think they shoulda thought over that rule a little bitty... But nooo...now we're gonna have like...Guard and Necrons against like...carebears and marines. Its gonna be a mess...

well, it has the potential to be a total mess, but it's for friendly games and as such I'll enjoy playing against, for example, a friend of mine who has a whole rebel confederation in a sector of space that he created where there's a lost marine legion (overdone I know but hey, it works), tons of guard regiments, and allied tau forces that all work together.

Its fluffy for nids to have a few baneblades. Everyone forget genestealer hybrids? If i was a nid I would feel better advancing behind a huge tank. At least a tank would leak discusting body fluids on me like a bio titan.....or try to eat me when it ran out of humans.
