I am a big Halo fan, I love all the games and the story lines. I even read the Halo books when I go away. I have all but one Halo xbox controller, The halo 3 xbox and the Halo Reach xbox. I am now saving up for this bad boy, when Halo 4 comes out on the 6th of November. Am I sad? Probably, But I really enjoy what Halo is at is what counts. Major Dpwner

Meh, I really didn't want another Halo game but seeing it in action I'll be buying. Not a console, just a standard copy of the game.....
That and AC3 are my only planned purchases this year. Screw the new Medal of Honor and CoD. I'm only buying CoD games from infinity ward anymore and EA has officially pissed me off.

Since I get games on quite the lag (Right now I'm finishing up Gladius and Metroid Prime 3), I can afford to see how it pans out The trailer I saw in Gamestop actually kinda reminded me of metroid prime almost...And that SpartanOPs (where your SPARTAN II goes on his/her own storyline...I think) kind of intrigues me. They made a new MoH? I thought CoD killed that off a long time ago...

EA tried to reboot it a year or two ago. Sort of succeeded. Besides being destroyed by critics and anybody who actually likes good gameplay the game sold truck loads because DICE helped on the multiplayer which was total and absolute crap (IMO). By the way this is coming from a kid who couldn't wait to get MoH Allied Assault on PC all those years ago and still considers it one of my absolute favorite games ever. Also a person that owns a ton of DICE games.
But since it sold enough copies they are making a sequel which looks to be BF3 but built for close quarters gunfighting.
In somewhat good news for gaming, Halo 4 is coming and looks pretty, Far Cry 3 looks good as well although has been getting thrashed by critics so who knows, AC3 looks awesome although familiar (whats new right?), and the best new IP for me is Watch Dogs and it will be a while until we can get our hands on that.
Also, Gladius is awesome!

I dunno, I kinda liked Noble Six. It was nice being the guy/girl who helped start the chain of events of the first game. Plus, if he/she canonically discovered all the datapads, or at least some of them...
*watches trailer*
Wait, why is the chief fighting Elites? I guess the alliance breaks down after 3, and it didn't manage to do as much damage to the covenant as I thought.
I got my hopes up when I first saw the infinity, thinking it was the Spirit of Fire.
Also when the thing attacked the Chief, and he raised his fists in sort of "come at me bro" moment. I was thinking "Oh my god, the Chief can fight without a gun now".
Nope XD

I really like the story line to Halo reach, the missions work well together and each character having there own speciality. The DMR sucks my left and the online game play/maps are so bad, they even took it of the MLG circuit, everyone lost interest.
Halo 4 has new guns, new raise to kill, new little upgrades and the Chief has a cool set of armour on him too. The MLG pro's think Halo 4 will bring back the fans so they can be back on the MLG stream again.
COD on the other hand hasn't changed anything... it needs to die now, along side MOH.
Being a formula 1 fan, I am so excited for the new F1 2012, havent seen a lot of game play but I could tell strait way they have done some improvements to the graphics and the way the car handles.

Ah. Well I never play multiplayer usually, so I guess that's why we remember it differently (it even took me a while to puzzle out what MLG stood for). It might also be why I'm more excited about SPARTANOps than anything.
I don't think there was anything quite like CoD's changing of protagonists in the early games, especially when you fought beside the last level's protagonist....It also popularized (not invented, that was some dinosaur game) the regenerating health deal if I'm not mistaken.
And hey, there's only so groundbreaking you can make each game, nowadays you're going to be hardpressed to not be able to trace the roots of something back to something else.

Wow, other people who played Gladius, I'm seriously the only person I know who's ever played it, much less owned it. That was an incredibly underrated game, it was probably one of the best strategy games ever.
And yeah Halo:Reach was pretty "meh". The DMR was a sad substitute for the burst rifle, and some of the game mechanics didnt make sense. Where was the dual-wielding? And if you read the books you knew what was gonna happen at the end. Noble team eats it and Reach gets glassed. The only thing I thought was cool about it was the armor changes and the assassinations. Halo 4 does look to be good though, if for no other reason than the storyline, especially with the "Forward Onto Dawn" tie in series.
Borderlands 2 anyone?

My opinion on Borderlands is badly polluted. I think it's a good game, but I can't stand playing it. I know why though.
I rented it a good 4 or 5 months after it came out, as there had been a few good games released around that time. I wanted to play it with friends but either they didn't want to make a new character or they wanted to powerlevel me. So I said ok to the powerleveling. Horrible. I literally just let them play for hours while I went and watched movies or something. And I didn't even level that quickly.
Well then you say why don't you play on your own? Because as a singleplayer game I found it to be terrible. Singleplayer loot hunting games bore me. But good news came when I went to a LAN party and some friends were willing to start fresh and I would play with them. I enjoyed it a lot then. Too bad that waS the last time we played.
TL;DR- I probably wont be buying Borderlands 2 for reasons.
ARMA 3? Hell Yes.

*Nitty point* Jun doesn't eat it. (Yet) I always figured the DMR was a tad better than the burst. It seemed to do the same damage, and you got more shots than the BR. Both had problems with ammo cap though, so when soloing firefight I pretty much had to camp the ammo box....
I actually didn't miss duel-wielding, mostly cause I've never kept either pistol or used covie weapons much.
My Gladius game is going slowly, mostly because it's getting rather repetitive right now. Although that's probably because I've basically been going Centurion pair backed by mediums and Eiji/Peltast, which lets me breeze through most matches.
I might actually pick up Borderlands GOTY edition. I have a thing for loot hunting (In gladius games, if there's chests, I ALWAYS go for them)

The BR bursts 3 rounds in halo 3 and it took 4 shots to the head to kill, where as the DMR is a single round and 5 shots to the head to kill, hence why you'll have less rounds on the BR.
The bloom system on the DMR was one of the biggest mistakes Bungie could have ever done, it was to unpredictable and you didn't know if you were actually hitting the other player untill you see there shields pop.
Armour lock...Really? there was no need for it to be in the game, sprint, jet packs and invis was enough.
Halo 4 still has little upgrades and some of the weapon spawns are in random places, so noobs can't camp the rockets any longer.

I was a semi pro in Halo 3 Major League Gaming and was lucky enough to face off against Ambush on Halo Reach MLG.
My team came fourth in the 2008 Franco, Belgium and Switzerland playoffs. I love Halo

I love Halo you just became one of hero's, if you wake up with a sore bum, you know I've been and gone haha Thats cool that you've given it ago because it is really hard to get up there with the big boys, so much competition. What do you prefer halo 3 BR or Reach DMR? Whats your favourite pro team and pro player? Major downer

@major Downer:
I always figured Armor Lock was for firefight anyhow. With the skull on that makes enemies throw more grenades, it became a godsend. Armor Lock + Shotgun was also pretty much the only way to take out a drop pod of Ultras if you didn't have a Fuel Rod gun on you at the time, as they'd close in on you way too fast. It's also pretty good against Hunters (Although I'd rather just use a spartan laser, or save the arty just for them) I just realized I lied about the pistol, I exclusively use Operator in Firefight, so I use the pistol a lot just cause I can actually hit things at range with it, and save the shotgun for the elites/brutes
Evade and Hologram are pretty handy too. Hologram is amazing in close quarters in matchmaking, as a lot of people are so jumpy that they will fall for it, and it's a good way to flush out somebody using invisibility. Evade is also neat, as you can use it to quickly close in on somebody and get right next to them, or dive out of the way of a grenade pile. Drop Shield is a nice way to heal the team in firefight once the medpacks are gone or if the team's stingy enough they refuse to use them for some reason.
It was kind of hilarious using Armor Lock in matchmaking. Every time I'd use it, people would either immediately throw grenades at me, or stand right behind me, and then complain how OP it was when that strategy didn't work. For people who don't know (just in case), armor lock's invincibility period outlasts the fuses on the grenades (but not if you wait before throwing them), and if somebody is standing behind you, you can just turn the camera around, and use melee to elbow them in the face for an insta-kill.

Sprint and Evade needed to be standard abilities, you're a freaking super soldier, why can't you run a bit or do a barrel roll once in a while (insert over used meme). Armor lock was a little out there though, worked ok in matchmaking but to many people used it got annoying, basically my only complaint against it so ignore that if you want.
I should clarify my stance on the DMR though. Halo needed a single shot rifle, I just don't think it was handled well. Replacing the BBR was kinda dumb, and starting most games with it in matchmaking wasn't my favorite feature. Too many "snipers" that would camp their base and pick people off.

Well the same key used for sprinting in CoD is used for crouching, and I'm sure a lot of people would be upset if they couldn't teabag as easily Really, I don't remember having other buttons ready to make sprint and evade standard. In canon, they probably aren't armor abilities at all, which explains why Noble team minus six seems to always have armor lock on them

I found that sniping got easier in Reach, Halo 3 had sniping down to the ground. Halo 4 has new guns which is always good but they are bring back the carbin, which is a single shot and very deadly in Halo 3 (for me any way) In halo 4 there is a new shot gun from the new raice and when you fire it the rounds bounce round corners... that could annoy the hell out of me but we shall see.
Controls wise, I use bumper jumper, it means I can turn and beat down people with out have to take my thumb off of the analog stick to press the default Beat (B).
My fav MLG team is Instinct
My fav pro has to be ROYBOX. well Roy and Lunchbox (the twins)

Cabines in reach... I love halo, im so good at it i didnt play for 11.5 months then the other day just won every game, was better at 2 and 3. And as for story my fav was ODST, it was well constructed and had Nathen Fillion

Post by Ponen19 on Jul 23, 2012 3:11:56 GMT -5
Yeah ODST had the best storyline. The stealth could have used a little work, but being a hard working spec ops soldier over a genetically altered super soldier was a good change of pace, and the music was much better to.
And like Adkenpachi said, it also had the best cast. Three of the ODST's were from "Firefly", that alone was a win.
