Airfix are going to release these models of vehicles used in Afghanistan by Brit Mil. They are 1:48 scale and I imagine they would work very well in 40K. Especially as the two tauros variants

Those are frigging awesome. They'll need new guns since 1/48 weapons are pretty puny by 40k standards, but it doesn't look like it would be to hard to mount some HBs or whatever instead of those .50 cals.

They'll also be releasing this set, also 1:48 scale. I remember cutting about Northern Ireland in those Snatch Wagons back in the late '80s/early '90s. Back then we thought they were the mutts-nutts !!! Not quite up to the job enough twenty years later I guess.

I reckon a weapon swap will be the easiest thing to do. The Jackal will be £16 and the coyote will be £19. I don't need any more stuff for my Elysians but I may have to get a Jackal to be Captain Gerek's ride

By the way, one of the guys who developed and applied the armour and other protection to the supacat to turn it into a Jackal is a mate. He plays Space marines and Necrons. Just thought I'd mention it.

I have found the Landrovers on Ebay for £15.75, but haven't come across the Jackal / Coyote yet.
Will 1:48 scale work in 40k?... personally I love Landy's and hope to get one for myself at some point, ideally an old military ambulance, or one of the aluminum mk1's which were designed to be air dropped.
I really like the idea of light vehicles in the Guard, I was hoping to find the DPV used by the SEALs but there doesn't appear to be a kit of that.
I also love the real Elysian Tauros.. just can't justify the cost of £32 / £36 plus postage very easily.
PS.. redcuffs.. thank you for posting this, very useful as you have saved me loads of time. Also very interesting to know Grimdark has an influence over military designers...

well i actually brought the wimik and snatch lr set last month to convert to be some sweet little recon vehicles... ive only finished the wimik lr (il put up pics sometime soon on my plog, which i badly need to update) and i just wanna say that im very impressed with the new airfix kits...
unlike revell, tamiya and italieri kits the airfix kits are not made of the standard brittle plastic we have been used to throughout the years.. its a very pliable plastic that i find , feels more like a resin and cuts and shapes very well... also the molds themselves are very detailed for a 1/48 sized kit... overall im very impressed with the airfix kits, even the boxes ooze quality.
as for the size... well i took an obvious gamble, but it paid off as the kit looks very well suited to the guardsmen i have put in it.... the only change i made structurally to the wimik is i buffed the axels out about 3 mm either side to increase the footprint of the model, without it, it looked a touch weedy .... but what i think ive done with it, i think you would be impressed.
i promise to post some pics for you tommorrow.

The Jackals are excellent for pathfinder units and recon ops. I just knew Ashot would be all over this. I think a nice little Heavy Bolter or Grenade Launcher mounted on it would be great. Obviously the autocannon would too but I think it's a bit big for these awesome apcs

all the heavy weapons were a bit big to be mounted on the wimik, so i opted for a guardman holding a missle launcher to be out the top hatch. just whipped up a few pics of it... bear in mind that this is still wip , its missing the missle launcher guy and the model needs final pigment weathering.

Those are awesome!
Great Paint jobs and really nicely done conversion / addition of guard packs and rolled kit etc.
Really like the spotlight effect!
Is the front armour plate a plasticard addition?
Great works.. well done
