Be turned into an adult's-only section. Now, I am not suggesting we suddenly turn it into the screaming depths of 4Chan, but that we specifically use it so that members over the age of 18 can discuss potentially mature/NSFW topics (but no porn/warez/etc still) without causing offense to, well, the perennially easily-offended.
It would also make enforcing the cleanliness of the Underhive somewhat easier.

I abstain from this vote, but if we do it, wouldn't it make more sense to just post the password to the center on the public part of the forum? That way anyone can access it, but, as you say, it can shield the innocent's tender eyes from whatever we post. Sort of a "Don't like it? Don't go in there" policy.

I wasn't aware this was a vote. When you nominate something, people second it, disagree with it, or abstain. Reds

just a few quick things ...
how will you make sure its only accessable to over 18's... you can edit ones age in the profile toolbar at any time...
also for possible nsfw threads, they would still appear in the 'new topics' area so accidental veiwing could be possible as they dont tell you from that page what subsection the threads are contained within.
my idea is to create a new user group within the admin cp that allows verified members to acsess a hidden portion of the forum for the adult stuff.... good idea? tell me to stfu if im wrong...
im for it though either way.... support.

Age would probably be honor system. It would be more about letting the people who don't want to see those threads not see them on the main forum.
You can only see threads in the comm center if you're logged in to it. For me, at least, it doesn't auto-log me in there whenever I come to the IGMB, so you wouldn't be seeing it all the time.

That aint the point here

This may anger a few, but I've always considered the Comm Centre to be a place the 'Old Ones' of the forum can go to post things that are truly, truly meaningful. The Comm Centre password should be handed out only to those who have proven to not be douche bags. Members that are in good standing and such.

I have put things in the comm center I would not have posted in the underhive, I think it is an acceptable place for that sort of thing. As it is only people who are interested enough to ask somebody who knows it, or are smart enough to figure it out on their own are able to get in. Making them promise they're adults doesn't bother me I guess, especially if we're going to encourage adults to post adult themed topics in there.

The Comm Centre password should be handed out only to those who have proven to not be douche bags. Members that are in good standing and such. This is laughable:D "post things that are truly meaningfull" seriously..? This is a 40K forum, people come here for advice, to read and learn from other peoples experience.. Why shouldn't truly meaningfull posts be available to everybody..? It is surprisingly few of "the old ones" that actually help out in the army list section and with questions asked by new members as well as old ones.. We have just experienced a new edition, we should ALL be out there enjoying the game that this forum is based on!.. What I find is that "the old ones" are spending most of their time on "none 40K related" posts with a questionable amout of "meaningfullness".. Hell there is even some of them openly declaring that 40K is a bad game, which in it self is a joke.. And who's job would it be to decide who is too much of a douche to enter your little playground..? Members that are in good standing..? By whos standard..? Now ofcause I couldn't care less about this elitism, since I never really go out of the armylist / strategi / advice threads anyway.. But saying that a closed part of the forum will contain "things that are truly, truly meaningful" is just silly.. Now this post will most likely be edited by an admin on a internet powertrip.. So I'll just leave it as long as it is allowed to stay.. Until then i'll be helping out with the transition from 5th to 6th that alot of our communities players are facing.. Good gaming to you all... Kras..

1) He doesn't mean talking about more than 40k. This is a community, and we discuss a wide range of topics beyond basic table top gaming. You should spend more time in the Uhive. 2) The mods decide who gets in, basically. Reds

I suppose if the IGMB were a workshop instead of a lounge, it would make sense to wonder about the meaning of 'truly meaningful.'
Back to work! Figure out how to make a better list! Write more fluff!
The reason the 'old ones' aren't participating as much in the 'functional' areas of the site is that we've done all that, gotten tired of it, gotten tired of GW's horseballs, but still like each other enough to continue interacting with each other.

I can feel that I am stepping on some peoples social interactions.. I wouldn't want that to happen to me when I am out with my friends, so I will stop questioning the need for "Adult only" sections..
Just consider if this forum really needs a section that is more adult than the underhive..? Because some of the stuff in that sub forum really is quite adult already..
I'll keep doing what I do and keep answering all the PM's from members who wants help with their "basic table top gaming"..

I never said we needed it, nor that any of my toes were trod upon. We do also need people who take this more seriously than we do.
