Now, am I right in understanding the new Hellbrute is replacing the Chaos Dreadnought? It definitely seems like it, if so, I don't like it! Perhaps for some Chaos armies, but for the Original Chaos Legions during the Heresy they should definitely still just have Dreads.
Thoughts?

Hey Cosmic! I was just reading something about this yesterday. The Hellbrute is NOT supposed to be replacing the Chaos Dreadnought according to the couple rumor websites I was reading. It's apparently supposed to be considered more of a Chaos Champion. His weapon loadout was pretty similar to what a Terminator would have. I can't remember the exact loadout, but I do remember a P-fist being mentioned. I don't remember the name of the sites I was reading, but they were pretty sure about the Dreadnought still being an active character in the Chaos Army List. Hope this helps! Im pretty stoked about the new Chaos list to have Cultists and Renegades! Can't wait to see something more definitive.

It's just a re-naming, like how Thudd Guns used by Space Marines are now called Thunderfire Cannon.
Or perhaps a better comparison would be how GW likes to change the Names for functionally similar things when they show up in different Armies, like in the changeover from 2nd Ed to 3rd, when Eldar stopped using Lascannon and Plasmacannon like everyone else, and got Bright Lances and Starcannon instead. Same basic Role, same Models, different Name.
There's a bit in the leaked fluff about many Hellbrutes having less warped appearances, and still looking much like the Loyalist Dreadnaughts that they were originally. Old Dreadnought Models will still work just fine, and you can Convert Hellbrutes from Imperial Dreads if you don't want yours to look as warped.
