OOC: Don't forget that a commissar (just like in WW2 soviet army) is a political officer and not (usually) a ranking officer. The orders Munk carried were from Falcon, he's not actually under either the Commissar's or the mercanaries chain of command. Additionally, the threat to kill Munk is crazy as commissars are generally only allowed to execute officer/soldiers who show cowardice in the field of battle. Munk was showing clear tactical knowledge and relaying the requests of the superior officer. Additionally, as every officer knows, you don't heck with the non-coms - officers direct the army, non-commissioned Officers (NCO's) run it. Otherwise you tend to find the reinforcements a little slow, the bunk ill made, and the food tasteless and boring - except for the saliva floating on the top.
Enough of the discussion, on with the story:
IC: Falcon looked up as the short, wiry fugre of Munk slipped into his command pavillion. Although the command pavillion had been constructed in haste, the mechanicus servitors were able to modify the pavillions pre fabricated construction within parameters. Munk saw that the Colonel preferred a more comfortable design. The large room was only interrupted by a smll sleeping area and what munk guested was the water closet. The room was divided in two by decor alone. One side was relatively austere, with a commanding wartable playing the centrepiece to the military grey walls. Only live data maps and pict screens broke the monotony of the prefab walling.
Munk recognised the adapted torso of a tacticus servitor jutting from the computator bank hugging the wall. The tacticus class were a recent advancement for the Adepts of Mars. It's eye sockets were attached by flexible segmented pipes into the console before it. In addition it's hand were disected and splayed. Allowing far greater reach and flexibility, it could process commands and update statistics at a frightening speed. Over the last century, tacticus type models had become integral to command and control for Guard forces.
"Bring up Segmentum Alpha Niner," ordered Falcon to the servitor as he waved Munk over. Falcon was leaning over the wartable, studying the detail of the statistics and deployment before him. Munk stepped up to the table and gave a tired salute.
"Enough of that Munk, I know you can raise your arm like the best of them." Hagard felt himself warmed by the Colonel familiarity and smiled in return. "Anyhow, relooking at these statistics, I think you saved our bacon today with your timely arrival." Falcon grimaced and Munk looked down at the diaorama played out before him.
Falcon pointed at the glowing holographic images, "As you can see, from our position on the ground thinks looked desparate, but not impossible. Drang's psychosis had knocked the stuffing out of the Tau and it felt like we were closing the net." he paused and reached for a decanter of amasec on the edge of the table. "Not the best I'm afraid, but the best I can do." he poured Munk a generous measure to match his own. "I understand your reticence to drink with an officer, but I feel you earnt it today."
Falcon turned back to the table as Munk took a steady sip from the tumbler. Falcon pointed at what Munk had guessed was Tau Hill. "As you can see, Drang killed the Tau commander and a large number of the auxilary and command structure. At this point things seemed good, I even remember commenting to the Commissar that Drang had won the battle for us." Falcon took another sip, Munk noticed the Colonel's hand was shaking, but only very slightly, and only perceptable to one train as Munk had been.
"However if we widen the view, you can see that the Piranha and forces deployed on Tau Hill were a subterfuge designed to draw out our strength. They hadn't expected the ferocity or the chaotic power of Drangs light show, it stunned them, but if we scroll out slightly." Falcon motioned the Servitor to widen the area viewed. Munk wondered for a second how the Servitor could possibly see the Colonel with no eyes, and wondered where exactly the Mechanicus' eyes were and what they were capable of seeing. Worth investigating, he thought.
"As you can see," Falcon continued. "The wider situation was far from desparate. It was hopeless. On the table defore them, Munk could see his own small column of light tanks pounding towards the Hill. The Imperial forces before and on the hill were stuggling with the Tau before them. Only now could Munk see the vast reserves of armour and troops the Tau held in reserve. he sipped his amasec contemplatively. The army shown outnumbered both the cadian and mercenary element and his own Kochi by at least three to one. He looked up at the Colonel, to see the same doubt and concern reflected in his superior's eyes. "So why didn't they attack? Why the rereat?" he asked.
Colonel Falcon smiled sheepishly and grasped the Sergeant's shoulder before replying. "Perhaps they were very surprised by Drang, but I know you don't buy that either. I think this Shas'O Commander was a decoy. I think our real enemy, a real stratagist is still out there. He's got the resources to throw at us, and he's testing our potential. He just sacrificed at least two companies, plus auxillaries and flyers to provoke a tiny army into close assault. He could have crushed us today with little or no losses and smeared your light infantry to the tundra 30 miles away." Falcon bang his hand on the table, pent up frustration showing clear. "But he didn't, and I have no idea why? What does this damn Tau want? Why's he playing with us?" Falcon fists were clenched.
Munk shook his head, he couldn't disagree with the Colonels logic. Thee was an answer out there, and they needed to find it. "Time to pool resources, I think sir. The mercenary should have recovered some by now, and I think some of his staff could help. Also the Commissar has perceptive insights into the Xenos mindset. I would suggest some intelligence gathering. With your permission I'll dispatch Grenadiers to pass on your request for their attendance." Falcon nodded.

Grenadier Jones marched through the camp. Asking discreetly at mottled tents and camp fires he was directed to the front. He liked the Cadians, they exemplified the best martial prowess of manking he admired. Plus it was nice to deal with a real military cultue where he wasn't mistaken for no glory boy. The Kochi Irregulars only gave they're best men the camoflage carapace armour. Utilising ground up crystals, the fame of Kochi VI and the reason for the Adeptus Mechanicus armoured "Citadel", it rendered the Armour as a shifting bulk, unedged and blurred. It gave his company the edge.
Speaking to a Cadian trooper with one eye bandaged heavily, but laying mines nonetheless. He was directed towards the Commissar. Jones approached him apprehensively, he hadn't witnessed the Commissar "little talk", but scuttlebutt and rumour ran swift in the ranks. He felt confused over the action. While his loyalty and fealty to the Emperor and his martial representative was faithful, he felt niggling doubts born up from his firsthand knowledge of Munk as a first class NCO, his leading staff sergeant and a well respected and admired man within the ranks of the Kochi. Jones knew that black mutterings were already circulating about the Commissar between the men around the campfire, and discussions on the picket line disparaging the aloofness of the commissariat.
Hence he was surprised to find the austere Commissar tending the wounds and talking quietly to a lowly trooper. The trooper looked dazed and worn down, but also something gleamed in the man's eyes as he received the attentions of the domineering Commissar.
He quietly watched the political officer squeeze the man shoulder as he climbed wearily from the trench and turned away to survey the defences. He vaguely heard the Commissar mutter something under his breath as he approached and went to clear his throat.
Before the notion had passed to his larynx the Commissar spoke. "Out with it man, your manners are suitable, but I have a notion the Colonel wants my attention, doesn't he?" Jones coughed in surprise, caught out by the Commissar precient interruption. Had the politico noticed him approaching before, for it felt like some kind of trick or magic. Training took over as Jone snapped off a parade ground salute.
"Sir, yes sir. Colonel Falcon requests your company at the war room sir." He dropped the salute, fixed to attention. "If you wish, I can direct you to the HQ, sir."

OOC: How weird. No not at all, he came outta my own head, I'd never played BF Bad Company before, but I just watched the "video" on youtube, very strange. The only Haggard character I could think of what a wrestling mayor who went to save his daughter with Brian and Cody of StreetFight or something , back in the 90's.
Ironically, he's got some similar traits to your BF man. He's more pirate/southern than that Haggard. He's older (50's) experienced and dangerous. He is short (5'8"), wiry and ugly. He has a nasty scar running up the side of his face (which is either grey or vermillion pink, depending on circumstances - great story behind that - keep RPing). Ash grey eyes and a worn rusty skin (which highlights his scars). He's a nasty piece of work, but very good at keeping his men alive and very good at "cheating" as he puts it. Then there's a WHOLE other side to Munk that we'll get into later... but I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise.

The door creaked.
A shaft of white-yellow light cut through the shadows, a lone, thin and pallid spear of illumination surrounded by a inky, malevolent darkness.
Grenadier Daveorn paused outside the door, swallowing hard against the slow, creeping anxiety that gnawed at the pit of his stomach. He gave the door another gentle push, leaping back as the hinges gave off another violent creak that set his heart pounding in his chest, a cold sweat slowly crystalising on his forehead in the icy air.
'Come on in' intoned a voice from the dugout room, the shock and fear slamming into Daveorn as fiercely and suddenly as any physical blow. Swallowing again, he stepped into the doorframe, and entered the dread portal.
'Come in, brave warrior' came the same monotone, a low, even sound tempered with a strange, mocking amusement. 'And do shut the door,' it added, causing Daveorn to leap up and slam the wooden door back in it's portal in a panicked rush.
'Hmmm...' came another voice, this one unmistakably female. 'Fresh meat' she said, her tone seductive but touched with the same strange mockery as the first group.
Daveron peered into the darkness, trying to put away all the horrible images flashing through his head as he squinted at the indistinct silhoette figures cut against the firelight. The room was extremely warm, even for such a cold night- the fire did not crackle and spark but roared with the barely audible sound of oxygen being sucked in from the room.
'I have messages from Colonel Falcon for Mister Drang. He summons him to a meeting immediately' said Daveron, standing rigidly in the centre of a semi-circle of shrouded chairs, their occupants wreathed in darkness.
'That's nice' said the first speaker, standing up to face the trooper. A tall man, he gave an impression of rigid, controlled power- heavy, broad shoulders topped by a round, close-cropped head. His eyes were a cool, icy blue, and falling off his shoulders was a trench coat, bearing the insignia of the Death Korps of Kreig. 'I'll be sure to give it to him' he said, his eyes boring into Daveron like the bit of a mining drill- hard, cold and implacable in their will.
'With respect' said Daveron, trying to choke back a nervous stutter as he struggled to meet the man's gaze 'my orders are to give these to Kamenev Drang. No one else was specificed.'
'Indeed' said the blonde giant, his tone still level but his eyes hardening into pale, blue diamonds.
'What is it?' came another voice from the back of the room.
Daveorn gasped. Leaning against the wall of the dugout was a figure whose nightmarish countenance he had witnessed not hours earlier- leaping across the battlefield on wings of night itself- a hellish, demented figure ripping through dozens of alien warriors like paper, a creature of terror and destruction rampaging across the battle leaving a trail of death, chaos and pain.
Kamenenv Drang.
'Drang!' barked the blonde giant. 'What the-'
-'Get back to your bed, you fool' came a fourth voice. It was a quiet, low whisper, soft and somehow terribly, heart-rendingly sad- as if a lifetime of hurt, injustice and pain were all compressed into the slight, wraithlike figure of the woman who stood against the firelight.
'Sir' began Daveorn, now visibly trembling with nervous fear. 'I have-'
'I heard you Guardsman' said Drang, his voice weak with fatigue. 'I will come with you-'
'You'll do no such thing' shouted the woman, rushing to stand before the pallid behemoth, eyes staring up at Drang's pale, sweating face. 'You played with the Warp Kam. You can't just get up the next day and pretend it's nothing!' she shreiked, voice rising to a crescendo as she harangued him. 'You're not immortal Kam. No matter how good it feels at the time, there's always a price for you to pay. For us to pay' she finished, her voice trailing off to an inaudible whisper.
'Emir' Drang said, grinning affectionately as he reached out to caress her cheek 'I d-'
'-Please don't' she gasped, recoiling from his touch like she had been burned. 'Please Kam.'
'Sorry Emir' he said, his features dissolving into wrought, fragmented expression of pain and fear. 'I'm-' He began, and suddenly doubled over in a violent fit of retching. Waves of pain swept through his body- his stomach contorting in agony as waves of dry, gasping pain stabbed into his gut like a poisoned blade. A dark, inky liquid spattered on the dry earth below him, staining the soil black where it landed.
Blood.
Daveorn leapt back like a man confronted by a venomous serpent, a misture of fear and revulsion clearly shown on his face. Slowly, Drang's coughing fit receded, and he looked up at the soldier, a mixture of contempt, pity and bitter humour evident in his eyes.
'Yes, Guardsman. This is the price of dealing with the warp. A price I had to pay today. And a price some of us must pay each day.' He added with a sidelong look at Emir. 'So keep your precious hate. Hold it close to your chest. Nurture it, warm it and feed it by your every act. Obey it perfectly, and it will reward you, and keep you from harm, as it does every true servant of the Emperor.' And with that, he threw his coat over his bare shoulders and swept past Daveorn.
Shock and terror met in Daveron's mind, fusing into a obsidian kaleidascope as his legs gave way beneath him, his limp body slumping against the wall as he shook in numb, uncomprehending fear. His fingers scabbled like those of a palisied cripple, spasming feebly at the bare earth as the mercenaries strode on past him.
Suddenly, the darkness receded, and away from his sat the woman Emir, her pale skin and sunken cheeks cast strangely against the harsh, white light of the outside lights.
'Don't be scared' she murmered, lifting to his feet. 'Kam always takes people like that the first time they meet. He's really not that bad' she said, smiling faintly.
'He's Daemonspawn' gasped Daveorn, mind still reeling from the sudden wave of mind-numbing terror. 'He's nothing but evil. You're all evil. All of you!'
'Oh, you silly child' said Emir. 'Can't you see that he's the only reason you live today! Can't you see that-'
'Stay away from me, witch!' screamed Daveorn, flailing to escape her grasp. He thrashed, and blanched as his open hand came across her face with a violent slap.
And the world exploded. Suddenly, all the air was driven from his lungs as he smashed into the hard earth of the trench floor. A boot slammed into his ribs, and he thrashed in silent agony as he felt his ribs shatter, a thousand tiny lances tearing into his flesh from the inside even as the world turned red as another blow smashed into his face, his nose shattering even as he was thrown back to the ground, screaming in terror and pain as the world turned to darkness..

Falcon glanced at his chronometer for the second time. "Wonder what keeping Drang?" he intoned to Munk, as they sat in the field chairs sipping amasec. "Not like him to be tardy."
Munk grunted, the exertions of the day, combined with the amasec, weren't helping his eyes work too well. "Probably still recovering from whatever Dark God's backside he kissed earlier. I hear the consequences are quite uncomfortable." the NCO sank the dregs of the sickly liquor and stood unsteadily. Time to find the caffeine dispenser, he though to himself.
Falcon watched Munk pour himself a black caffeine and swallow the scalding liquid in one long draft. It was good to have the old battleaxe back on side, he thought. It'd been too long since he'd had a man to discuss command with. He'd been so long at the top, so long lonely in command, that he hadn't realised how isolated he'd become. How alone he felt. An hour and a half sharing a bottle with Munk, and he felt like strapping on his bolter and getting back out there. He felt younger, perhaps because his old mentor was once more by his side.
Munk belched mightily, shaking Falcon from his reverie. He glanced over fondly to see the old wardog stoking that awful pipe of his, packing the rough tabac bown with his gnarled and scarred fingers.
"You know Falcon." Munk started. "You won't believe what that commissar of yours spouted at me." The Sergeant paused as his struck a short match and lit the stinking relic. Immediately, coiling black smoke plunged the short wiry figure into relief as he gestured to Falcon.
"That Commissar..." he started.
"Said some things in the heat of battle that are better of not repeated." Said a stern and sonorious voice. Munk jumped, spinning in surprise as Falcon slapped his knee and cackled at the Sergeant's discomfort.
"Twice in one day, Munk." Falcon gasped. "These boys really are priceless!" he tried to stand, but the weight of his own mirth and the cumulative amasec defeated him. He half stood, half crouched, laughing and coughing.
Munk eyed Commissar Antecipant shrewdly. He noted the young Jones holding the prefab door for the politico and the careful way in which the Grenadier double checked to ensure the closing door wouldn't catch the commissar's cloak. Already got his impressive hooks into that one, he thought to himself. Then the Commissar did something that Munk didn't anticipate.
He put out his hand. Munk stared at it for a moment in puzzlement. The politico's face was still a stern mask, but his hand was offered.
"As I said." Anticepant spoke quietly. "Some things which were better not said. And some people aught not to pretend their rank is Sergeant." Munk smiled his broken leer and grasped the commissar hand. It was large and strong, and he had to firmly resist it's biting clench.
"Yeah well," he replied. "On Kochi, we got no use for Officers. They just get in the way. So some idiot goes and make me Staff Sergeant, like I'm some stupid administrator." Munk barked a laugh and grinned at the taller man and went to release the others hand. He noticed that Anticepant let go slightly before him, was that good training or something else, he wondered.
By this point Falcon has gained his feet and access to another bottle of amasec. He pulled the cork with a resonent pop. As he poured three glasses, he spoke over his shoulder.
"Yes of course. Damn Kochi can't name rank for love not credits. Staff Sergeants just below Master Sergeant, but above Sergeant at Arms. That makes you a blasted Captain doesn't it, Munk?" He quickly waved down Munk's objections as he handed a half filled glass to the commissar.
"Yes, yes, I know. Doesn't work like that on Kochi does it, with all your Regulars and Irregulars eh? Sounds like my damn bowel movements!" Falcon burst into laughter at his own conceit as Munk grimaced and Antecipant smiled politely. Munk noticed the Commissar hadn't touched his drink.
Falcon has just started across to the battle table when with a great crash the prefab command center door was wrenched open. A bloodied figure in carapace armour stumbled into the room, his face and uncovered head a weal of bloodied gashes and swollen black and green bruising. He staggered two steps and crumpled onto the imported rugs adorning the room.
"Daveron?" Munk's moved like lightning. A loaded hellpistol in his free hand. His voice rasped menace. "Drang!" he snarled.
In the open doorway. Framed in the night, stood Kamenev Drang. Small swirls of steam wisped from the fur lapels of his overcoat. He filled the doorway. "Emperor's blood." muttered Falcon.
In a moment Munk had raise his hellpistol, pointing at the blackened figure. As his aim settled, a calm but firm hand pressed across his arm. Anticepant's voice was like an ocean of balm.
"Look Munk, he's injured!" the commissar spoke. As Munk hand loosened on his pistol, the great figure lurched into the room. Under the keen lights of the command centre, his condition was shown true. He was pale and sweating, while his knuckles were bloodied and torn. His hands hung from arms to weary to bear their own guilt. Drang was a man torn asunder, a soul ripped. A broken monster.
Munk's hand shifted on his grip. "But Daveron, what happened to him?" he stepped towards Drang, threatening. To his surprise Drang shifted uneasily in what appeared to be guilt.
"He brought it on himself!" said another voice. A melodic woman's voice, calm and serene. "He brought it with him, bringing naive judgement and insults to the home of those without the comfort of his ignorance." She strode into the room, her shapely body masked in an Ermine edged ankle length coat. Four men's eyes followed her sinuous movements across the room. "He brought it to me, and gave ... us no choice. I have healed him from mortal danger." She turned to Munk, looking calmly down into his ash eyes. "But I would choose your messangers more wisely in future, Kochi."
Munk spat in his glass, dumping it on the table. He holstered his pistol and lifted Daveron grumbling figure. On closer inspection the wounds were already healed, the blood superficial. The bruises were plain though. As he lifted the Grenadier, he found a blond giant in the uniform of a Death Korps of Krieg assisting him. They hefted Daveron up and walked him to the door, handing him to the sentries outside.
Munk turned back into the room. Drang had now collapsed into a field chair and was being attended to by the woman. His use of Daveron had been a calculated gamble, the confirmation of information certain individuals had given up to him during the worst of the pain. He grimaced, so his fears were confirmed. It was true. He looked over at Falcon, who was also examining the mercanaries contemplatively. Time to cover his tracks.
"Colonel Falcon, I want this noted." spoke Munk in his guttering calm growl. "This merc has crossed me the first and last time. No more. If he damages my men again, he'll face me. My choosing, martial code."
Falcon blanched, "But Munk, he's no officer." stepping up to Munk and placing a warm hand on his shoulder, he added in a clenched hiss, "don't be a fool. He's not even human."
Munk barked a laugh. "It is my right as my rank dictates. Under the terms specified, I call him to Imperalis Mortatum. My terms. Do I have your acknowledgement Colonel?" he glared at the Colonel.
"I guess I have no choice..." muttered Falcon. He stared at the set line of Munk's ravaged jawline, criss crossed with ancient scars. And set with determination. What had Munk done?

Drang leant back in the chair and grinned at the choleric little sergeant seated away from him, savouring his indignation and spite like the fine, rounded flavour of the amsac as he sifted it on his palatte, measuring the delectable, strong pungency of it's flavour coupled with the mild 'kick' as the fine, amber liquid slid down his throat.
'Do go ahead sergeant' he said, his smile twisting into a distorted leer as he eyed the pugnacious dwarf. 'It has been a long while since I ever met a man so willing to die for his principles. I wond-'
What Drang wondered was not clear, because a sudden fit of coughing racked through his body again, the violent, savage convulsions ripping through his chest and abdomen as his body tried to empty and already vacant stomach. With a silent, vehement curse, Drang choked and spat, a dark stain spattering against the floor even as he looked up again at his colleagues.
'What're we going to do Falcon?'

"Huh, oh yes well." Stumbled the Colonel. Falcon had been caught short, tonight was probably not the best night to be indulging in some post conflict reminicence. The previous mood was ruined by Munk boneheaded demands. He;d enjoyed so much having his old mentor back, he'd forgotten the frustrating way in which the old fool got in everyone's face. Knowing Munk as he did, there was no way the grizzled vet would back down from his challenge. So it was just a matter of time before he lost his mentor and old friend.
He looked over at Munk who had dropped into a field chair and was now festering sourly opposite Drang. The latter was barely holding himself together, and Falcon wondered what monster would pop out if he did truly spilt apart.
He took a hasty slug of amasec and motioned the others to the table. As they approached, the lights dimmed and a three dimentional hologram of their position was shown. Falcon explained his previous conversation to Drang, the mercenaries attendants and the Commissar.
"So as you can see, I'm of the opinion that we're dealing with a master strategist. This is no Mont'ka strategy of overwhelming force, we're dealing with targetted and strategic attacks designed to test our capabilities." He paused, and was met by firm nods and grim faces in the eery green glow of the hologram. "They are not just pushing us to see how to kill us, but to see what we will do, but to what end I cannot say." Falcon looked over at the Staff Sergeant, "Munk had some ideas, but he's keeping them close."
At this Munk previously unresponsive frame unfolded. He focused on the men and woman around the table with a shrewd squint before speaking.
"What I'm about to say is conjecture and guesswork and will probably amount to a hail of horsepiss. However, I think the Tau are testing our faith." He looked down as he said it.
A bark of harsh laughter erupted from the decadent Drang. "Faith? Our Faith? What orkbolsh is this? I have no faith and no promises and the Tau fight me? I think your mind is rusty old man if you think as such. Who's faith do they value so?"
Munk turned and stared at Commissar Anticepant.

OOC: I'll rephrase that, if you don't mind.
IC:
A burst of hard, cold laughter erupted from Drang, the raucous, violent sound deafening inthe close confines of the dugout even as the laughter turned to another violent, painful fit of coughing.
'Faith, my good man? We have no faith. The emperor, rest his soul, does not come to the rescue of men. He much prefers to limit himself to grace, and redemption, hope, and charity these days. Things you can't see.' He leaned back, much enjoying being the centre of attention despite himself. 'What you mean, Munk, is he tests our resolve. And I know of only one Tau so.... human that he would do this.'

Munk looked aslant at Drang, wondering at his intel, and it's potential accuracy.
"But hold that thought for now, I think you and I are aware of the eventual adversary. My concern is which of his lieutenants we face. A precipitious guess now could have us up to our eyes in quicksand." He nodded to the mercenary.
"Earlier I mentioned a wagered game. A game of Tau tipping." He motioned to the holographing map and it zoomed in on a certain area. "I have a platoon of Kochi Irregular Grenadiers positioned close to an ill defended woodland." He looked around at the group of men.
"I am under no illusions about the defence of this forest, I understand through surveilance that a Kroot Mercenary force has been inserted into the forest. This intrigues me. We don't know of Tau using Kroot Mercanaries before, usually they frown on the practice." He stopped and pointed at a semi submerged bunker buried in the side of an outcrop deep within the forest.
"I believe the answers to some of these questions can be found here. I also think that an important second lieutenant that's acting as liason to the Kroot is here." Munk nodded to Falcon for the Colonel to continue.
"Drang. I want you front and centre. Your experience in insurgency and your dubious colleagues..." Falcon looked to the Krieg Death Korp and the Psyker, standing behind the merc. "They give you the edge. I understand you have a Kroot on your staff. Use him or leave him home if this is too sensitive. Either way you're to spearhead Munk's Grenadiers into that bunker and capture this lieutenant and ideally the Kroot master shaper. We've had dealing with these Kroot mercs before and I think we can turn them!" He turned to the Commissar, "I need your particular skills out there tonight, Anticepant. The Kochi might not follow Drang on his own, so your there as acting commander, the paperworks cleared. Drang has point, but Anticepant overall command."
"And make sure my boys die of natural causes, Drang." Munk growled. "I'll hear if they don't!"
Anticepant smiled. "I'll watch over them Munk. I thought you wouldn't be coming."
"I bet you did," grimaced Munk. "But I got proper work to do, you boys have fun."
Munk slipped out of the command post.
OOC: I'm heading for a holiday in Denmark for 10 days so I'll be out of the loop. Thought I'd give you this operation to keep everyone busy until I'm back. I've got an awesome surprise for my return, so stay tuned. Additionally, you'll see the return of our dearly beloved Cadian. I'm sending him his first "bad-guy" spec now.
Good luck guys, play nice. I'll be keeping tabs and back in character start of July. Points will be awarded for interaction, playmanship, creativity and narrative. And what do points mean ... prizes! I'll bring you back some bacon.

OOC Update: Cadian's received the badguy spec and is raring to go, he's got the low down on the scenario and the NPC's. Have fun, I'm feeling a bit jealous oddly.

Falcon looked back fom where the ascerbic Sergeant had left the room.
"Yes sorry Anticepant, you'll have three full squads of grenadiers, hellguns and the like. Standard kochi armament is meltaguns and plasma." He turned to Drang. "You've got your own people Drang, pick your best ... you'll probably need them." He eyed Drang's debilitated condition, the drooping eyes and exhausted countenance.
"You are actually up to this, aren't you? Drang, after all I could call Munk back if you need more time... ?"

OOC: THat's it, I'm gone - carry it yourselves. Cadian knows the kroot disposition, RT knows his mercs and you've got your small elite force...
Have fun - looking forward to reading a cracking story on my return... goodnight and goodluck.

'I'll live' said Drang faintly with a wry smile, levering himself out of the chair with a barely auidible grunt of exertion. 'Diego, get on the horn to Ahmed and tell him to fuel up the Vampires. Kasson, I want you and the thirds to run a diversion on the frontline- punch through their frontlines and blow something up. No' he said, interrupting the blonde sergeant midway through his question ' I don't care what it is. Just make sure it burns nicely' he finished, his expression radiating malevolent glee as he turned to his lady. 'Emir-'
'No.'
'What?'
'NO!' She screamed, the sudden noise making the mercaneries jump. 'Your in no condition. You just allowed yourself to be possessed by a Greater Daemon! You should be asleep- By the Gods, but you should be dead!' She continued, her composure breaking as Drang swept in to hold her. 'And now you want to tear off again and fight and kill and I have to see every murder and the screaming and know that you can't stop and won't stop because you love the killing more than anything.....' she sobbed, trembling in his arms, as he held her tightly.
Drang caught Kasson's eye over her shoulder, and the rest of his retinue swept out, leaving the mercernary to comfort his lady....

Diego tapped his earpiece, watching the boss hold Emir, murmuring softly into her ears even as he was redirected through to Ahmed, the battalion quartermaster.
'Yeeees your greatness?' came a thick, ridiculous Tallarn accent.
Diego sighed. 'Cut it out Ahmed. I'm not in the mood for you're eyeball rubbish. Just fuel up four Vampires and bring them over here.'
'Okay' he heard Ahmed say, his accent barely recognisable as Diego listened to the sound of a blast door slamming open, Ahmed's yells and curses faintly audible down the communicator as he harangued the ground crews going about their work.
'I can give you two' he said, after the brief interlude 'but that devil von Luckner's already tied up six and seven toward the east, and the rest are in the middle of an overhaul.'
'Ahmed, this is not Tallarn, and we are not negotiating. They aren't your kite's, and the boss wants-'
'The boss is supposed to be sharp enough to know you can't take fifteen tonnes of bullion's worth of precision engineering and drop it in like a 'Russ!' He shouted, the hollow ringing of a fist being slammed against a table muted through the comm lines.
Diego cursed softly. Like all of them, Ahmed was edgy as a strung-out cultist with exhaustion, bad food and being out of the intelligence loop beyond what could be stolen, traded or overheard. Tiredness and the constant, grinding, energy draining tension had produced a almost universal rash of headaches, nausea and near- frenzied irritability amongst the highly trained specialists.
A maddening, blank silence followed. Diego sat, fidgetting with the holster of his hellpistol as he listened to the indistinct shufflings of paper, muted, tensly urgent conversations that sat painfully close to being understandable through the line.
Finally, the silence broke, a distinct, scraping screech echoing in Diego's ear as Ahmed dragged his chair across the bare rockcrete of the hanger floor. A tiny snap followed, followed by a sharp inhalation. A Dholl stick, thought Diego as he waited. Suddenly, the near-silence was broken by Ahmed's voice. He sounded thoroughly exhausted, as if he had just stood up from their conversation, neglected to sleep for a month and somehow yet picked the comm up not two agonising minutes later.
'I'll see what I can do for twelve and thirteen, but the rest are out for at least another month' he said, his voice flat and utterly drained of emotion. 'Tell the boss I'm sorry.'
'Okay' said Diego, equally fatigued and numb.
'And say hi to Emir for me.'
'Cool'.
Drang turned to face Diego, an expression of calm, self possessed expectation barely marred by a tiny, microsmic frown that betrayed the gnawing tension that sat in the pit of his stomach. They spoke for a moment, a moment's fear running through Diego as his friend's face twisted into a snarl of helpless, frustrated rage for a brief second, before the sense-deadening tiredness wiped it from his brow.
A few more quiet words, and they left the dugout. The mercanery, the sniper, and the lady.
