A WIP platoon blob Commissar: Edit : This is my first official preview of my Stadarzki flesh tone : Chem's Toxic flesh, made with 90% ushabti bone, 5% averland sunset, 5% mournfang brown, and a small dab of black paint.

How disappointing - I got all excited thinking there was going to be some Eisenhorn conversions.
Oh well, at least the commissar looks good. I like that he is faithful enough to carry a tome into battle rather that the "pocket edition" the GW commissar has.

I thought Chemflesh was 90% Ushati, 5% mournfang, 5% black...
Guess mine got mixed up wrong. By the way, I've finished that one secret project except for maybe some shading since I've been having troub;e picking out a wash that ties it all together at the end, it keeps ending up too dark. Any suggestions?

I would prefer black trousers. Except for that, excellent. Simple, yet functional.

Any suggestions? I thought yours looked a little dark. Try adding yellow instead of black to the basecoat and then shading with brown ink. I would prefer black trousers. Except for that, excellent. Simple, yet functional. I wanted something to break up all the black. That's real nice, Plenty of character to him. Well done Chem Major Downer Thanks, Major. Wait till you see the infantry guys. How disappointing - I got all excited thinking there was going to be some Eisenhorn conversions. No Eisenhorn/ Inquisitors, but the infantry might look a bit different. Here is my first sniper for the Ymottian 4th. I took more pics of the commissar with ink washes and the book is painted yellow now, but my digital camera is being fussy/ refusing to upload them... EDIT* Bloody thing! I had to go and take more pics together.. Sniper and Commissar together.. More WIP infantry..

Thanks, guys! Now for something old and something new.. The basilisk is old. Remember the old Apoc deal - 3 bassies for £50..? Well that was the command tank until I tore the command aerial off the side. The hydra cost just as much for just one and took a lot of time to straighten the barrels and remove the mould release chemicals. Now it just needs to stop raining. I just need to GS one or two more bitz and I'll update you on my infantry so far.

Mmmmmm Hydra Gotta love that model Nice to see you took your time assembling it too. I've seen so many of them with droopy barrels Is the bassie to take advantage of the lovely new blast rules?

Thanks, 3ff3ct.
Partly. I needed artillery and I was going to buy 2 hydras and 2 griffons from FW but that was too expensive so I went 2 lemans, 1 bassie and 1 hydra instead. I'm having 2 defence lines with one quad gun and one icarus lascannon for double force org games, so that's 3 dedicated anti-air guns, rather than 4... Hopefully it'll be enough.
Damnit! One of the barrels still looks a bit droopy.

I LOVE THAT HEAVY FLAMER CONVERSION!!! ;D Your Hydra looks great, I didn't notice any barrel droop. There's a guy at my gaming club who ran a leafblower list and he didn't even bother to try straightening out the barrels of either of his Hydras, which are all horribly warped. Quite hideous to look at... Hmmm... Maybe I should continue painting my Hyrda next?

Thanks, Trooper. I took more pics of the heavy flamer after adding gs to the bit of the flamer just above the firing arm, to make it look less sentinel-like, but my stupid camera edits the pics and refused to upload the rest. Hmmm... Maybe I should continue painting my Hyrda next? Do it. I'm waiting for good weather to spray all this lot.

Yes Chem, please tell us how you got those colored people painted. I'm going to be fielding as colorful an army as possible and this would really help.
Thank you in advance.

It's quite easy really. For a really dark skin tone just use Scorched Brown (now called Rhinox Hide) straight out of the pot. Or just add a bit of water on some kind of palette if you don't want a blotchy finish. Wash with agrax earthshade/ devlan mud wash Highlight - mix 60% rhinox hide with 40% cadian flesh and just paint on the raised areas. And it was literally THAT easy..

I love the alpha legion guy in the mkVI armor, the smooth shoulder on one side is an excellent touch.
Those hairdos are amazing! As is the ABC robot, and the GG winners. I really like the one with thr chaos warrior helmet.

Well spotted, Ymmot. It was just a standard shoulder pad cut down carefully with clippers.
Actually I didn't have the right colour purple to make it a proper Alpha legionnaire pre-heresy but I believe there was a point in the aftermath of the Heresy when some Alphas had to escape through Ultramarine positions, so it's feasible that they could have repainted their armour.
The Space Wolves will become a reality eventually and I'm planning on about 40 grey hunters all with chaos warrior heads for that. Somehow the heads suit the army better, plus the models themselves were really quick to paint with a mere basecoat and drybrush. Then it was just all the details.

Firstly Photobucket's new beta refused to upload anything, so I switched back to old style mode and it worked. Secondly my digital camera was designed by the Borg. I'm serious. It refuses to load anything that looks even slightly similar to another picture. Example : I took individual pics of all the following wolves, but it only loaded one of them. I suspect I have to adapt... Evolve.. Just don't ask why I'm taking pictures of apples, oranges, goldfish or dead prawns next to my Space Wolves, because it will be to appease the spirit of the Borg camera.
