I stuck as of what to go with for my HQ, I think I may go with CCS but I want to know what you guys use, I don't want to go all out and spend a load of points.
My HQ will sit back with my troops as throw rounds from a distance.
If you could tell me what you use so I can get an ideas and options that I can work with.
Thanks
Major Downer

Well Major my good man, If you wat to sit back and throw Hurt at the enemy, I'd suggest a CCS as follows. CCS Commander wth Boltgun 2x Plasma guns Autocannon (Bare Minimum) And possibly even some regimetal Advisors Hope this helped buddy Dave

I generally have 2 Company Command Squads, each equipt with a lascannon to take advantage of that BS4 and mounted in a Chimera for additional survivability.

I also like 2 CCS, I use one to provide orders for my Heavy Squads and has a Regimental Banner to help catch men who have chosen to fall back, and the other is a more aggressive equipped with assault special weapons (4 x melta / grenade launcher normally).
I used to field Lascannon but have never hit anything ever in any game ever ever.
at all.
so I rarely use the heavy weapon slot on either unit, though the unit with the regimental banner might occassionally get one of the more 'varied target' weapons like missile launchers or autocannons and possibly a Master of Ordnance and / or Plasma guns since the unit tends to be more static.
Carapace never hurts when using plasma... but I'd buy another plasma gun before buying the armour.

Tread i think your and mine lascannon guys are from the same inept family. I've used them in 5 games, and in all those games I have yet to hit something...
My CCS is as follows: 4x plasma guns Carapace armor Chimera w/ ML and HB.
I like to keep things sweet and simple. This build wreaks havoc against MEQs

Took a Lascannon in my CCS last Game. Missed 5 Turns in a row, even with Bring it Down for 3 of them If I'm focusing my CCS on Support, I usually take a Standard and an Autocannon and leave the last dude as an ablative Wound. Advisors to suit the rest of the Army. For something more aggressive, a Plasma Spam CCS can be fun, tho mine's on the shelf for a while since they killed enough of themselves to force Morale Tests and Fall Back off the table two of the last three times I used them Giving the Officer a Power Fist and taking a couple of Bodyguards can give you a bit of a Counter-Assault Unit. Don't expect them to take on any real Assault Unit, but if they pitch in alongside a Blob, they can add some significant damage. Don't forget that the Regimental Standard adds one Wound to your Combat Res each turn.

Yes a Company Commander and his Veterans have a BS of 4. That's why many people give them full Melta or Plasma weapons.

So basicily you use your HQ as some sort of "power house", I like the idea of two HQ's but I'm one for more men.
Thanks for your personal take on HQ, It's helped me with a load of Ideas

if you really want to chuck things at them i suggest a CCS with a mortar ,master of ordance and camo cloaks. set them up hidden somewhere in cover, close to your gunline and watch the barrage come down on your enemy

CCS - x2 Snipers and a Auto-cannon squad, sitting at the back issuing orders to nearby troops
CCS - x3 Melta Gunners, x1 Flamer and a power weapon, jumping out of a Vendetta/Valkyrie
Thats my two preferred options the former is great hanging around a blob squad at the back of the field and the latter works well in armoured fist/airborne lists.

I have now, two CCS's. One is an company commander w/powersword full advisors, master of ordnance and company banner + medic.
The other is another Commander with a bolter, 4 snipers and a MoO w/cammo cloaks.
This two squads were sitting in the forests, giving orders to other squads and getting back in to the fight when somebody fired at them.
The MoO's made a mess of packed enemy infantry.
