Im trying to run one or two large infantry blobs with a tank line for 1500p, i just dont know if it should be conscripts or IS and how many men each. if it was two id have a commisar in one and my LC in the other, one would just have the LC.

Don't bother with Conscripts. The extra Point per Model gives you way more value with regular Infantry Squads.
I'm having a bit of trouble getting Assault Blobs to work in 6th, my Sergeants keep ending up either too close to the front and getting killed before they can strike, or too far to the back, and just sitting there.
For shooty blobs, tho, I find 3-4 Squads with Autocannon, Plasmaguns or Grenade Launchers, and a Commissar works pretty well.

Regular Guardsmen are your best best, conscripts just dont have the stats to be effective. If you are intent on conscripts though, Chenkov is a decent character to run since he allows you to restock a conscript squad.

Right, il probley run 3-4 regs, i only have one autocannon spare so il just stick with one for now (il put flamers on the other guys) and il stick my LC in the blob as well for LD 10 and stubborn/summery exacution.

If Chenkov gave them Send in the Next Wave for free, he might be worthwhile. But I'd rather spend the 75 Points per Squad+Chenkov's upgrade Cost on just putting more dudes on the table in the first place.
