Afternoon all!
So, I'm thinking of further feeding my plasticrack addiction by starting up a Fantasy army. As I've obviously already got an Imperial Guard army, I don't really want to have the same feel in the fantasy army, that is to say I'm not really leaning towards the Empire or Bretonnia as I don't want to be the "good guys".
I'm leaning towards either Warriors of Chaos or Vampire Counts. However, I'm aiming for a certain theme in these armies and here's where I need some help. The themes I was thinking of (and this is just from browsing the models on the site) were somewhat similar, but I'm not sure how they'd fare in battle.
Either:
1) Khorne-themed Warriors of Chaos, with a focus on Chaos Warriors and Warhounds (and few, if any, marauders) with Knights for some additional hitting power.
2) Skeleton-centric Vampire counts, led by either a Wight King or a Necromancer with Black Knights and Grave Guard. (Ironically with few vampires. I'm also liking the look of Krell.)
Of these two, I'm leaning more towards the Skeletons than chaos.
What are the relative merits of either theme? Are they both completely useless? I'd like to hear your thoughts. I've got no experience with fantasy at all, so any advice would also be welcome.

i play VC, though i'm selling them off atm to get room for orks and dark eldar. VC is quite fun to play, your basic troops are the worse in the game, no shooting power other than the banshee; but your troops are fearless, cause fear, powerful magic and combat power through your hammer units. i suggest you read the 'red duke' for inspiration, i just read it and its awesome. as far as models wise, get lots of skeletons(80-100), zombies for magic raising(40 or so), wights(20-40) and black knights(10-20), then fill in other units as you go.

The Wights are the Grave Guard, yes? Also, what are you opinions on the non-vampire heroes? (In this case, the Wight King and the Necromancer)

wight king is a very good anti-hero hero, the enemy heroes of man-size will avoid it at all cost as the wight king can kill them instantly, necromancer are there to support and raise new or reinforce new mobs of the dead. you're better off having a vampire thrall if you have the pts as they can fight too. master necromancer are worth their value in bigger games.
