Has anyone used a lot of heavy weapon squads? I LOVE to have them with lascannons or autocannons, but I always seem to have poor deployment options with them. Anyone have any thought?

Hey Stovrose, HWT's are best deployed in hard cover (if you play defensivley) or in a Transport (Agressivley). I've never really fielded a lot of them unfortunatley.... But that may change. Like all guard, your HWT's are squishy, no doubt about it, and thus you want to try and keep them alive for as long as possible. Thus, the ideas above improve your chances of surviving a nasty hit. Best of luck, it just takes practise to learn how to best place what buddy Keep plodding on and win a great many battles! Good luck! Dave

Hvy Weapon Teams need to rank low on the target priority for your opponent in order to survive.
When they become the focus of your opponents attacks look at how much of his army is distracted firing at them, the autocannon squads are quite low cost yet can draw a lot of attention.. this can be well worth the points spent on them.
I have often placed certain Hvy Sqauds in the open and seen them survive battles, while in other lists they get taken out very early even though they are in cover.

i guess it depends on what type of tables you play, if you're playing on terrain rich tables on which fire lanes are hard to get then i can see why you're having a hard time. the main reason why my heavy weapon teams usually die is because my opponent can't afford to have 6 S7 shots coming his way from every unit each turnn and therefor focusses on them in the early stages of the game

I use them behind an Aegis defence line, if they get shot, I go to ground and order them to 'Get back in the fight!' on my turn. 2+ cover save is pretty nice.
