If he scatters, he must land at the closest non-impassable terrain... Not quite. They would just reduce the scatter until they are safe, so they can only land somewhere between the start and end points.

i found that playing a Defence line with quad gun, is really helpful when dealing wit drop pods. i normal turtle my tanks with troops behind defence line. but i have found that shooting the quad gun at the troops help. let them place the troops first and hope the SW are near the front (the quad Gun).
one game is played the SM play placed a flamer close to the lines so he could get a clear shoot, but i killed him with the quad gun before he got to shoot, then made the troops got to ground behind the line to get that sweet 2+ save from the bolters. its not the best plan, but it worked twice, but you will take loses,
it has worked well so far, but its a tactic: Going to ground and then Get back into the fight.

Has there been a clarification or an FAQ regarding using the Interceptor rule to shoot at a transport arriving from reserves? I understood that you could only shoot at the vehicle and not the troops, since the shot takes place at the beginning of the Movement phase when the transport enters play, whereas the troops disembark in the middle of the phase. Can anyone point to any rulings on this?

Im not sure, i have played a couple of games and i would say that shooting down a drop pod on its way down would make sense, but that mean's that the troops wouldn't get out.
i was told the shooting takes place at the end of the movement phase, so you can shoot at the troops, but in another game i got to shoot at the drop pod before the troops got out.
but shooting at the drop pod is easy but its not easy to kill since its 5's to glance,

The Interceptor rules;
"At the end of the enemy Movement phase, a weapon with the Interceptor special rule can be fired at any one unit that has arrived from reserve within its range and line of sight. If this rule is used, the weapon cannot be fired in the next turn, but the firing model can shoot a different weapon if it has one."
So, at the End of the enemies movement phase you can fire at troops that have come in from reserve and disembarked from the drop dop

what points level is this at? cuz the above plans would work if you can afford to lose a chunk of the force. if you think he's gonna just try to swat your force then I'd put bare minimum on the board and keep the rest off in transports if possible. would like to see his drop pods take down a valkyie swarm! CUE THE MUSIC! They don't. Ever. "Okay, I'm deploying none of my force. Drop pod assault." "Excellent. Neither am I."

if you have bare minimum ithen just capture the objective/get them in cover etc and he has to assault them at least with one pod.

Has anyone got any illustrations? ;D
If you do this strategy does it limit what you can do in further turns?
