Kasrkins and storm troopers, are they the same thing?
I know there are slight differences but effectively are they the same, just diff TT models.

I think when it comes to the table top you could use Kasrkin to either be veterans or storm troopers.

I'll just add that if you are using veterans with thee grenadier discipline then the Kasrkin models are ideal to set them apart from the flak armour guys.

I think when it comes to the table top you could use Kasrkin to either be veterans or storm troopers. I would say it depends on who you are playing against - some are more picky than others. The Kasrkin models do have hellguns instead of lasguns, and lore wise they aren't just veterans - but soldiers chosen in a young age to be trained for precision missions.

Kasrkin aren't storm trooper models either so your opponent could object to that as well. If you have a picky enough opponent then I guess you can't use them for anything but for most people as long as they can tell the difference between models it will be fine and using kasrkin for carapace veterans is likely to please them more than using normal infantry models that aren't distinguished from your platoon squads.

When they had differing Rules, Kasrkin were closer to Carapace Vets than to StormTroopers. Just as long as it's clear to your Opponent tho. Most people will be fine as long as you're consistent.

Creed is from Cadia, he's from the fluff their most famous character so I use Kasrkins to make up his command squad.

if you have him in the squad it makes it expensive, and a high target so i'd rather give them pace armour to and they look so much better for it than the plastics personally

I don't think anyone would really object, the equipment is exactly the same down to the hellgun. If anyone complains they are fools and you shouldn't play them. Plus, the "rules" for kasrkin grenadiers are gone so they have no home outside of the Stormtroopers in the codex.

i'm using 2 squads of Kasrkin, the 1st is a CCS, the officer has a powerfist and plasma pistol, 2 PG, 1 MG and veteran vox operator has hot-shot lasgun with the whole squad in carapace armour and the 2nd is a veteran squad, the SGT has a PS and hotshot laspistol, 1 HF, 1 PG, 1 MG, Vox, 6 hot-shot lasguns and the squad has taken the grenadiers doctrine. I used kasrkin because of the armour 4+ (with my rolls that should increase my chance by at least 20% and of survival on that objective by....well at least until the next squad shoots at them), I honestly found no other minis in the GW range that would represent those squads the way I wanted them on the table. as for the hot-shots (I actually bought a kasrkin squad and cut the hotshot guns away....it didn't work) it is a sign that they are veterans and get their choice of war gear (the points upgrade is in the points of the CCS and Grenadiers upgrade) my regular opponent agrees, I know its NOT OFFICIAL but it seems to work (he wins, I get slaughtered).....I know why I lose, not enough fuel for the fire, need more men in typical IG fashion.
And these men are not Kasrkin from Cadia, They are Veterans of the 1st cohort, 5th Andironian Volunteer Contingent. The Flame Guardians of Andiron. They may look like Kasrkin (apart from the distinct colour differences), the Cadians copied the armour of the Andironians. The subject is often a cause of tension between the highly trained, motivated and very martial men of both planets, the 2 elite formations often unable to operate in the same theatre of operations as High Command fears of real bloodshed amongst the 2 formations, and the loss of experienced fighting men that it would cause, would be immeasurable.
"don't let the truth get in the way of a good story". the 2 squads may not be legal, but a good background story always helps!
Keep it fun and fair I say
