hi to everyone. so i thought i would do this thread as i could do with a bit of enthusiasm with painting these guys, as i have come to a painting block. my whole army is in need of a re paint. i have only currently completed one Manticore and half way through a vulture. so ill post pics every time i finish something. oh and yes the vehicles are staying the same colour, i know not true steel legion colours but i like the black,grey and brown look. ill start with a group pic if i can fit them on my small table.

quite right. someone told me, not quite sure who, but they said you can never have enough guard. could do with more manticores though.

I like the camo design on the tanks especially the super heavies but have you considered mixing up the direction of the camo effect per tank lol its realy weird looking at them all with the same diagnal camo lol fair play though for having that many painted tanks!

Awesome collection here chief, but I must say that if I was you I would go for a puritan Steel Legion Force with only official colour schemes and a good ole Commissar Yarrick on his Baneblade - Fortress of Arrogance as a centerpiece.
I used to have a huge Steel Legion force with the special edition , loading crouching Legionnaire but I sold it all to buy an xbox and have subsequently earnt the loathing of all my gamer buddies ever since....

all the tanks are going to be getting a makeover so ill do my best to disperse the pattern during the make over.i do much more gaming than i do painting, so quite a few of these need repairs from all of the lugging around that they go through too. out of all my forge word stuff, the avenger was the easiest. i know they should be the correct colour but im really not keen on the yellow within the camo, so going with the grey, black, brown.

Wow that's a lot of tanks! I think the scheme on the manticore looks fantastic.
I have a Steel Legion army and I agree with you that the GW sceme is not the best. I replaced the rotting flesh with graveyard earth and desert yellow.

thanks dazza, i had a peek at your blog, cool army man. i love the Armageddon pattern tanks. i like what you have done with the tech-priest's robes, mine is just grey, so doesn't really fit in colour wise. as you can tell i like my flyers too, how does the lightning perform in games, i chose the avenger as on paper it looked better. oh and im not even going into the marauder thing, im just jealous of that.

Thanks for your kind words Vinny. The lightning is not great game wise. It only has two hull points so it's quite fragile. The thunderbolt is a much better choice. The reason I had the lightning it because of the novel Helsreach. There is a squadron of lightnings in the novel that has the Black Templars symbol on them. I liked it so I painted it on mine! |

just quickly added the points up for the vehicles and flyers at base price it roughly 10500. but that's points cost from memory, could be slightly different if done accurately. to be honest, list building is quite easy when you have the models to choose from, i usually play games from 2000 to 6000 points, when i play 6000 is usually against 3 opponents i also get real nasty and put 6 sqds of deathwing in too.

hi been away from my ig for a bit, ive been painting some da marines in the hope that i can have a balanced army with the new codex thats coming, getting real excited, however it was the boring codex that made me start ig as i got so bored of fielding deathwing all the time. whats your wars of Armageddon game then?
yarrick is in there but he is badly painted so no close ups of him yet lol. i dont field him very often, i can get loads of goodies for his points lol.
