Right, I wasn't to write fluff for my guard so they have an identity, especially here on tge board So, my problem is the system my guard originate from is causing me some hassle as I want it to be fitting, and not sound over the top. So easy questions first. once planets are designated a forge world, or an agri world etc, is that all it does. So you cant habe a forge world that is self sustaining? Ie produces is own food. And does a forge world just construct single lines, or does it produce masses of different things? Ie Leman russ tanks, las rifles, etc etc etc Finally (for now), when a war is on going, is it often to just consume one planet, or is it usual for the full system to be engulfed in war? Many thanks!

I'm sure someone else will also say this but, it's your fluff it's up to you.
What I would do personally is have the whole system involved, have some planets as agri world and some forge worlds, that way they can provide for each other. This then gives the options of different guard and not just one type.

The main thing for believability is justifiability. Have a reason for why your planet is why it is.
If your planet is a pure forge world (keep in mind these are run by the Adeptus Mechanicus), briefly mention how they import food from off world, and most food consumed is simply nutrient paste, and often recycled from the dead (corpse starch), as the Mechanicus don't care about fine dining.
Hive worlds are also often industrial worlds, the difference being that they aren't run by the Mechanicus.
Both types of worlds often produce a variety of manufactured goods, and like life, separate factories assemble separate things. They aren't just one big factory, they're a large group of factories.
If you choose Agri world, then you should explain where they get manufactured goods from. Do they import from nearby industrial planets, or do they make all the tools they need by themselves (more common on primitive agri worlds)?
Finally, on planets, remember that planet classifications are not hard and fast rules. There is no law against being an Earth-like planet, where no one aspect is dominant. The Imperium literally does not care as long as the planet pays its tithes and worships the Emperor in an acceptable manner.
As for war, there is no constant true answer. Sometimes war will be confined to one planet, say, a localized uprising, and other times, war will consume an entire system (assuming that systems include more than one populated planet), say by Tyranid or Chaos invasion.

can be an enitre area that gets hit. some worlds get hit on their own Cadia due to their location. but others...well Necrons have been used as training every X years due to their re-emergence. so it is a wide range. What army do you currently collect? does help to get the basic details of what you want for us to advise
