Lapdancing with an army case can be hazardous, unless you've had the proper training.

These are the standard infantry guardsmen in pyjamas and slippers. I've got a lot of painting to do. I'm thinking of repainting all the feathers purple instead of red.

Chemin and Cosmic...
I'd prefer to drop you and Chemin off at Brighton station as I'm a bit concerned about my early morning the next day. Don't know if this effects your train ticket plans...
My reasoning is that my work has a lot of people off ill at the moment and I might have to do the overnight shift from 10pm til 7am over saturday night. Hopefully I won't but it will make a big difference if I don't have to drive to Burgess Hill at the end of the day!
Sorry if that messes up any plans...

That's quite an unfortunate shift Tred, and I thought I had it bad with 11:30-00:00 on Sat ;P
Oh, I'll work out my Ork force now and PM you in a bit. 1,000 points right?

@ Tread - it's not a problem - in fact it's easier for me just to get a return from Clapham Junction to Brighton. It might even be faster that way and I can get to Clapham more easily than I could do for Victoria. Looking at a train timetable it might be less than an hour's journey. Will we see these Sunday? Yes, I've got a case with 2000 points exactly of them. Also because were only playing 1k games I've been playing around with my list and I'm dropping the CCS, the PBS and the Grenadier veterans, replacing them with another platoon of 35 and a mystery tank that I've never even used yet.

Same here, Tread. That's fine, if we can get dropped off at Brighton Station we can both get the train back.

Set up: I dumped a load of scenery on the table before everyone arrived to speed things up but we started off by rearranging things a bit, removing some things and adding some of the terrain that Cosmic and Tred had brought with them; some interestingly layered fortifications from Tred and some delicious sandbag walls from Cosmic. Once everyone was satisfied we rolled for mission and deployment which gave us: Hammer and Anvil, and The Scouring, so we had 6 random mysterious objectives on the map and fast attack units would be scoring even if they were vehicles (which raised the question of whether flyers would score, I think the decision was that hovering flyers could). (This is the table set up, right before we put the flyers on the side and started the game. Note: The ork quadgun bunker was non-functional) Tred and Cosmic Turn 1: Tred and Cosmic gained the first turn and at the last moment we remembered to roll for night fighting, which to the chagrin of Cosmic’s artillery began on the first turn. Tread boldly advanced his infantry and Cosmic used his chimera to light up my Demolisher so that his larger guns could take some pot shots at it. The Basilisk managed to drop a shell on both the Hellhound and Demolisher taking a hull point off of the later. Other casualties were light due to abundant terrain and the fact that most units were shrouded and only two guardsmen and a couple of penal troopers were killed. Chemin and empty Turn 1: Chemin edged his infantry forwards and I advanced my penal legion on the flank hoping to run them into some cover, however I rolled low and they became stranded, they also cut off the route for my Hellhound so it stayed hidden behind the ruins while Chemin’s punisher and my Demolisher advanced on either side of the penal troops. The exterminator also moved up on the other side of the ruins. The lingering effects of the night reduced our turn of shooting to about the same level of wimpyness as Cosmic and Treds and like them we only managed to down about four guardsmen. Tred and Cosmic Turn 2: Tred and Cosmic’s saw the arrival of both of their flyers, which zoomed down their right flank and helped them in a far more effective round of shooting, which saw the destruction of all three Leman russ on the other side. The colossus fired into the woods in the corner killing a large number of Chemin’s platoon and wiping out his Primaris psyker. The penal squad suffered casualties from both Tred’s infantry and the explosion of the Demolisher reducing them to a man, however he was steadfast in atoning for his crimes and did not run. Meanwhile Tred rained mortars down into my lascannon blob platoon klilling a whole bunch of them with the first volley he followed it up with a second wave of mortars that resulted in three hits, sniping out all the lascannons from the platoon and killing several more guard. At this point he rechecked the range and declared that the second mortar HWS’s had been a little out of range and so returned the lascannons and took a shot on some other infantry which scattered off. Chemin and empty Turn 2: Having seen what the Colossus had done to Chemin’s platoon in the woods, (which was sitting on one of our objectives) our main aim for this turn became to take out the dangerous artillery piece. The Colossus was sitting behind a Chimera so Chemin attempted to destroy that first so that my lascannons could get a clear shot. Sadly all of our anti-tank fire was ineffective and we weren't able to take a single hull point from either vehicle. The loss of our tanks and the focus of our infantry squads on the Chimera and Colossus meant that Tred and Cosmic to very few or possibly no loses. The Hellhound moved forwards into the smoking crater of the Demolisher and since from that range could only have flamed three of Tred’s infantry platoon it popped smoke. By this time all of the objectives had been turned over and the majority of points were on Cosmic and Tred’s side of the table. They had also scored first blood and slain one of our commanders which gave them a considerable lead. The pizza arrived at the end of Turn 2 and we all scuttled of to the kitchen to devour it where we spent some time talking about 40k related things. Looking at the time (and the tactical situation) when we returned I suggested that it would be pretty unlikely that Chemin and I could do very much from our position and that playing the next couple (of probably quite gruelling turns, for me anyway) would leave us without enough time to play the second game. After a little discussion we decided to call it a victory for Tred and Cosmic.

Someone doesn't like the look of that Vendetta. Or that Collossus.
Also my techpriest should be renamed Jonah after he single-handedly caused us to lose all our armour. The plan was for him to repair the hull point that Empty's russ had suffered in the night fighting phase. In our turn I sent him towards empty's Leman from his position behind the Punisher on the far left. Then in Tread & Cosmic's turn both the leman got destroyed and exploded. He just jinxed everything..
Normally I enjoy fighting to the bitter end but seeing as we conceded so quickly and without resorting to melta bombs VS vendettas, I'll just report in to the local penitentiary to endure a lifetime of servitude in the Penal Legions.

We had the luck on our side.. from the outset it was revealed that we had the higher value objectives.
After that the combination of indirect fire and flyers meant you were being shot by stuff you couldn't shoot.
We also had a lot more blast templates and were playing on a fairly small table packed with infantry.
Finally, We were far more fortunate with our to hit rolls than you or empty.
This combined to make things quite horrible for you.

I would have been cool playing it through to the end but since we would have missed out on the second game and you guys had almost certainly won it seemed like the better option. Too bad we didn't have time for both.
