Anyone else read this? I picked it up last week, first 40k fiction book ive read. not bad overall, gave me a bit more insight into the relationship between yarrick and thracka. I got confused though and thought it was based after the third war of armageddon but it not lol

imo is not worth the price, 200 pgs only.. i read it and its okay, the author could have extend some of the scenes, i was expecting at least 600 pgs.
some good 40k novels involving the guards are the cain series, iron guard, 15 hrs, among others..

yeah i wasnt too off about price for £12. i mean we pay 20 - 30 for a codex lol I fancied reading the ultramarines novels that come in 2 books with 3 novels in each. also 200 pages was good for me i dont normally read anything unless its on a screen lol

If you're looking for good IG stuff definitely look into the one's macknight suggested. I also recommend the Guant's Ghosts series as it is fantastic

I love a lot of GW literature. Anything by A-D-B, the word bearer trilogy, gaunts guys and the aforementioned IG novels amongst others, but warning lights went off when I saw that one.
Even my commitment has its price limits. 200 pages for twelve quid? Dark Creed is 80 pages longer for half the price.

well i think this book is like buying a finecast miniture, GW think because it is about yarrick and Thraka it is automatically worth more in the interest of balance lol

What's a thraka? Isn't Yarrick a chocolate bar from the 70's?

well its based on golgatha a planet yarrick tracks thraka to between, the 2nd and 3rd armageddon war, this when yarrick is captured and escapes from thrakas imprisonment. at the start of the book there is a large battle scenario which also has a map on the inside front cover so a themed battle could be formed from this. Although to be truly acurate you may need some titan legions

The cool thing is that in another guard novel(not sure which one, probably one of Cain's novels), the imperium liberated the destroyed baneblade of Yarrick's. They restore the baneblade to its former glory and send it back to Armageddon to inspire the defending troops there awaiting the assult of Thraka.

yes his baneblade the fortress of arrogance is wrecked by a stompa it decides to joust with on golgotha lol Yarrick is then held captive for months even years before escaping Thrakas space hulk planetoid so i guess its after he returns they recover the fortress of arrogance as something happens/is said at the end of the book which i will not spoil that leads yarrick to believe he may need it

The guard novel that describe the retrive and restoration of the 'fortress of arrogance' might be 'the 13th legion' or 'annilation squad', I just cannot pin point it as I have over 40 novels in my ebook collection, where mostly are guard related.
