Yes. If anyone else would like some ideas on how to mentally scar their friends/siblings/wives/husbands/workmates/strangers in the street, just ask.

One way of breaking in boots:
Get some good, thick woolen socks. Soak the boots in warm (not hot) water and put them on over the socks, let dry. Now the boots are somewhat shaped after your feet and they are much more comfortable to walk them in.
Some people suggest you walk them in while they are wet which is just a good way to get blisters and abrasions. Keep walking and keep polishing them. Good leather oils also helps softening the leather but you need to walk in them to get them comfortable.
Oh, and good socks is a must.

A bit of necromancy, agreed, but...
There's two ways to brake in a pair of boots.
1. Fill them with warm water, then stick your feet in them. If you can keep the feet with the boots in a bathtub for a couple of hours. Sleep with them if you can.
2. Get your wax/fat or whatever you call it in English (NOT shoepolish...). Massage it into the leather. Walk a long way, atleast Nijmegen once, the military track.
Keep in mind that you will always get blisters if you treat your boots badly... They need love, and lots of it.
As for the double sock-thingy.... Never liked it, and my last recruits that had thick socks in the summer-boots payed the price. If you're going to act in an arctic climate with skis, well then you might have double socks....
