What do people think? Would you like to see the Guard database run a world wide campaign?

World Wide Campaign? Sounds like an awesome idea, but please elaborate a little, good sir

I'm seeing what interest I get in the idea first, but I'm hoping it will bring the database to more people attention allowing me to expand and diversify. My thought is though, people who have a registered guard army submit their battle reports via the site which fuels the campaign. I may make it so they can only face a certain enemy. Run it for a month and create a narrative to go along with it. Like I said though I'll flesh the idea out a bit more when I know if it's going ahead.

As long as its people you trust ;-) There would be nothing stopping people from making up reports to seem cool or whatever.

I thought about that, I'm sure there's a way I could have them prove it. Maybe provide photo's etc.

I think you should walk before you can run. Try a IGMB campaign first. Work out solutions to any problems that might arise before trying to pull in more people.

The world wide campaign was more of an implication that it will be played all over the world not just for example, in my loft.

I think you should walk before you can run. Try a IGMB campaign first. Work out solutions to any problems that might arise before trying to pull in more people. We tried that. It worked the first time. The second time it fell apart, and I think someone wanted to revive it a third time but it never happened. Reds

This project has stalled a little at the moment. I am having some issues with the current web host and their limitations due to it being a free host.
What I would like to know is would the gaming community consider this a worth while investment? Do you want to see this project grow and evolve? I'm not asking for your money, although it would help, but I'm not about to put more of my time and money in to this if no one is using it.

While the above statement is still true I am going to embark on a IGMB if not global campaign. It will be 'The defense of Theza', I'm looking for someone to help write the fluff for it since I'm rubbish at writing.

Just seen this ... Been away for a year or so ... Just read the whole thread ...
FREKKIN BRILL MATE !!!
I'll be making my contributions as soon as I can.
An army builder would be a great asset too.

Well an army generator isn't absolutely necessary. Building a list on paper is the only simple arithmetic that I ever do to be honest. So the only occasion that I'm ever forced to practice maths.
I've just entered my mob into the IGDB.
This whole thing appeals to me for a number of reasons.
It is a product of someone's passion and zeal for a certain topic or thing. I like that. I really do. And it's "OUR" thing !!!
Further to that ...
Our armies (here in the 40K universe) are something we have all made off our own backs, from our own imagination and from our own practical modelling skill. Admit it or not we are all proud of our own IG armies/lists/models/collections/whatever ...
And you have produced a way of paying tribute to our creation. And a way of displaying it to the world. In all it's aspects be they:- Technical (Lists and tactics), Physical (Modelling), Fluff (the hardest thing to produce well).
I know I've stumbled across this quite late to offer real support but I really hope this project of yours (or is it ours) succeeds. (I detect a little doubt somewhere ...) I hope it succeeds not just because of the time and effort you and a few others have put into it, but because it's about us and our "thing".
I'm not worldly wise with the gaming world be it 40K, any GW stuff or any other game system but I don't know of anything like this database for any other faction or game.
I encourage every IG player to get involved.
BG Foster ... I salute you sir.
If any of this doesn't make sense ... it's because ... I've been drinking.

I don't know if you're still up but ... Something has gone wrong with the guard database !!! I'd just finished my fourth enty and when I pressed submit it went to this Hostinger add offering free hosting and "order now". When I close that down there's a big thing from 000webhost.com What are we going to do

I have been informed of this today. The host are not happy at the amount of data the sit uses and deemed that I was abusing their terms of service. I have asked for access to the backend database so that I can back it all up and move to another host, I'll be looking in to whether I can afford a paid for host.
