If I see the Churchill on sale at my local hobby shop I will definitely pick it up. It's a unique looking tank and would make for an interesting conversion, but I'm going to Malcador up this new Abrams M1A1 I just got. It looks like it's just about the right size, I just saw some one else do it too, which is where I got the idea. It looked great! and weird, which is a bonus! Did I mention I got it on sale? Let's see how I do at my first kit/conversion here, I could get used to buying tank models on sale for under $20 and converting them into $150+ forgeworld equivalents. To be honest I want all of these models for conversions. The Matilda, the Crocodil... as long as they are on sale. Because I'm feeling especially cheap at the moment & it might have to do with the fact that people are starting to judge me for how much money I spend on 40k & how large my army has finally become. Really, had my heart set on some sort of recovery tank so I could convert this old Leman's Russ into an Atlas recovery vehicle, or a chimera into a Trojan. C'et la vie none were on sale or even display. But there is hope! The hobby lobby usually has excellent clearance sales after the holidays! www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-US/Valdor-Tank-HunterTHAT, is what I would convert the Croc into if I ever picked one up.

You can turn anything into a “Forgeworld type looking thing”. This was my first kitbash from about nine years ago including parts of the Russ, Chimera, Baneblade and Basilisk. I play it as a Demolisher but with the hull and turret weapons in swapped places. I repainted it recently so it’s still a bit monotone.

Hm. Always been tempted by a 1:48 scale KV-2 as a Russ.

Anyone who has been a tier four tank running into a KV2 in World of Tanks knows it should represent a demolisher.

There was an old, old epic kit called the Leman Russ Ragnarok. It was basically a KV-2 with heavy stubber sponsons in little side turrets. Really cool piece of kit. Ragnarok?

A 1/35 Matilda MkIII would be 17,2 cm long, 7,2 cm wide and 7,1cm high. Thats 6,2 cm too long, 0,8 cm too thin, and 0,4 cm too low. Crew members would be a bit larger than GWs, but the don't have helmets atleast and are just showing the upper half of their bodies. Perhaps Forgeworlds cadian tank crew would due. Link to tamiyas model: www.tamiya.com/english/products/35300matilda/index.htmThe larger tank model will make a battle cannon look more natural, perhaps it will work on this turret. And there will be more details on the tank, which is nice of course. The KV-1 or 2 tanks look very "imperiumish", but sadly ain't my cup of tea. It may be heresy and I might get purged, but atleast other tanks are more aerodynamic and mobile than the Leman Russ. ^^ Edit: The Matilda will be about this size. I would be really interested in an attempt to hack the model down to size, this Matilda kit is just begging to be my next exterminator! Heart eyes! At it's current size, can any one help me compare this Matilda kit to a Malcador chassis?

Personally I like the Female MkI from WW1 as the Russ stand-in, but the matilda looks cool too... You are getting a smaller target and I'm not sure how basing would work since you're going to have to use the hull for determining whether there is a cover save or not. Try looking at 1:35 or 1:32 scale as this can give reasonable results. The matilda looks a lot like a chimera with more curves! I'm interested to see where you go with this. Now that I've noticed you've mentioned it... 5 years later after you've written it, the Female MK1 from WW1 DOES look pretty sweet for a Russ stand in.
