Small arms are what short people and children have.

Ok smart arses. Damaged should be shown from low caliber weapons like rifles or machine guns, where as the current damage show is from weapons like cannons etc.

Maybe some chipped paint but more than that? Naaah.

normal battle rifles no, anti-tank rifles can still do damage if you know how to use them.

Bolt rounds, essentially being small rocket grenades, may cause dents and dings on tank armor, gauss weapons would cause gouges, Tau weapons might actually cause some serious (if superficial) damage, tyranid and daemon weaponry would most likely cause acidic melting, and lasguns, autorifles, shotguns, and Ork sluggas probably would mess the pain a bit at most.
There, that's the small arms of every major 40k faction dealt with. Now stop arguing about silly things.

This gives me the idea of big claw marks on a tank which has faced some big scary nids

Some Nurgle Daemon weapons have cool effects on armour, I'd love to see a model of that.
I model most my rhinos with bullet holes in them, the way I see it, they're made of corrugated iron anyway so they're probably going to get a fair few bullet holes.

Just restrict the 'small arms' damage to the rear facing.

"These rough terrain modifications, they do naaathing!" They look really good. The second chimera has the top hatch upside down though. Another ebay-find?

It's not upside down, it's merely been blown sky high from the turret, flipped over in the air and landed back loosely on the top ;P
Great work, Tread.

Make that over 200 times from AT weapons. 'We counted 227 hits from anti-tank rifle rounds, 14 hits from 5.7 cm and 4.5 cm anti-tank guns, and 11 hits from 7.62 cm guns'. Blatant cheating. Reporting ze Germans to EA! Nice work on the wrecks. Not so much a fan of the upside down wrecks, but when your getting 2 for 1 it's better than nothing. Will you be basing them to look like they are in swamps or anything?

I won't base them yet.. though I have made scenery of a river system so they'll theme with that okay.
I'm also planning to do a 'dead infantry' series.. so may link with that.

MOOOOOAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They get better.. I learned as I progressed. The first three may have been seen before, the latter three I am actually quite proud of. All of them were awful ebay items. And.... Wrecked Chimera 4: and .... Wrecked Chimera 5: and..... Wrecked Chimera 6: note that there is detail within the holes now... thanks to some old clocks. Finding the old style chimera's took time but it was worth it to get the track wheel details. I have been wanting to do this to a tank since I first assembled the old school Leman Russ Demolisher kit back in 96!

They're very good Tread. I'm sure you wouldn't have done this to a new kit but when you find a bad model that's beyond turning into a good model ... terrain seems to be a valid route to take it. And to go the whole hog with bits of clock, nice.
Yes there appear are too many "High Velocity Armour Piercing" hits but it has to be like that if it's to be obvious at a glance what has happened to the thing. If there was just one HEAT round hit I'd forget it was terrain and probably try and play the thing.
And by current standards the holes are way too big. But real shaped charge hits are really tiny compared to what they do. Like 20-30mm from what I remember. To replicate that in 40K you'd need a pin hole. And even that would still be too big.
I do like the way the holes have been cut, they almost describe the enormity of the explosion that caused them. Very good. I look forward to seeing the hits after a lick of paint and the light show.
The commander. How he is still alive defeats me. But how he's still in the tank and not belting it down the road is an utter mystery !!! It's clear that he's crapping himself because he knows the Squadron Commissar is put him on a fizzer for what he's allowed to happen to the tank !!!
Like when you've just smashed your Mum's favourite vase and you try to fix it in a panic with gaffer tape before she gets home !!!
In my head he's shouting,
"Go get me some glue!!! ... Fill the big holes with some bits of tree !!! ... And chewing gum !!! ... Rub some mud over the join !!! ... The Commissar will never notice" !!!

For the tank commander, perhaps the tank crew that were left alive bailed out then after they were able to get control over whatever fire was going on in the tank got back in to see if the gun would still fire. Just like the Imperial Tanker's Uplifting Primer tells you you should.

My plan for the poor tank commander is to make him look like he is on fire, the tank will have smoke pouring from the holes and he will be on top screaming as he struggles to fee himself. I have a box of skeletons and zombies and am just waiting to gets some new catachans so I can make a few squads of equally doomed infantry to go with the tanks. No longer shall 40k be a game of polished heroes who vanish when they are killed - now there will be dismal battlefields filled with the screams of dying and wounded, the ruined bodies of men who are decaying and the grim sights of barricades featuring the corpses of the deceased. In death you still serve - as a sandbag! My 40k will describe future war as horrific, terrifying and barbaric - the foul xenos will detail their armour and vehicles with humans and advance over the bodies of the fallen. as for the orks.. I am to understand that they tend to recover from injuries very well and often get back up from what should be fatal wounds, this means there will be less greenskin bodies. less but not none! Also - the guard would tend to destroy the xenos with fire rather than allow the bodies to spread spores. also, my guard and marines have lost all of the key apoc games against the orks so the scenery will reflect this. (my marines, chimera and dreadnoughts are all battledamaged already). The LRBT tend to do well as do the flyers so these are unmarked. There is a large number of looted imperial vehicles in the Ork force now which also reflects the appalling losses sustained by the imperial side. and just because I like how this has come out so much, here it is again!:

Are there bits from clocks/ watches in the side armour there?
To represent the final dregs of the IG making a last stand when all their stuff has been smashed you could allow the final humans to go full on Gorkamorka and get themselves a looted Stompa, with a mad heretical enginseer at the wheel
